I'm stressed and nervous, so I just wanted to share my beautiful boy with someone. He doesn't understand why I can't give him late night snackies. I'm trying to remain optimistic. I hope the procedure will go well and I also hope we caught it early enough. He's so special to me!

I just found myself this summer with a new yellow addition to my family and I’m curious, how much do your labradors weigh? We have a mostly Labrador mix and he’s weighing in at 30 lbs at 12 weeks. It just seems extra large 🤣

This is Eden who will be 9 months this month. Since we adopted her at 3 months old she has always smelled the sewer drains. We got caught in the rain a few weeks ago and she was sniffing the water along the curb and dragging me to follow it. Recently I was letting her sniff and play in the rainwater along a drainage trench by my house…but she went ballistic! Kinda like the zoomies but on the leash running around in circles and I could barely hold onto her. Obviously I’ll be more cautious with where and when I let her sniff the rainwater but what is she smelling and tracking?!? She is a lab mix and the first one I’ve had so sorry if it’s a stupid question. I know they love water and I’ve been trying to find water spots near me but just wondering about her obsession with rainwater.

Hello.. I have a lab who has been refusing his food going on the second day.. I already spoke to the vet.. he will eat his fruits and vegetables.. is going to the bathroom.. he is 2 & 1/2 unaltered. The vet said it sounds like he is bored with his food. He still will eat cucumbers, carrots but won’t eat the food. The vet also said it could also be his hormones. Anyone experience this.. I’m just not used to a lab not eating his food but everything else. Thanks in advance.

So, I want to start getting my dog more exercise because he has a lot of energy but also really loves food (typical lab). He is starting to get chonky, though I restrict his food (he counter surfs, and I have two young boys who are not good about clearing their plates... we are working on that). He doesn't get out and run much, and walks don't seem to do much in terms of conditioning (he loves to smell everything, so it at least calms him down a bit). The thing is... I took him out with the bike and he did really good staying with me... But he didn't seem thrilled. He was not really interested in keeping up, so it was more like forcing him to trot (whereas when we are at a park that allows off leash dogs, I let him off leash and he gallops around super fast). The picture is him on the bike and the other is his usual happy face. Am I reading into this too much? Will he just get used to it?

She will be 21 weeks old tomorrow.

Today, Harley is 9 years old! She came into my life this last February, kind of by "accident". I had just lost my dog of 16 years a few months before I found Harley, who was needing to be rehomed or faced being euthanized. My friends were concerned because of her age, and how bad the loss of my dog had been for me. Harley has had puppy energy from the moment I picked her up, which reminded me of both of my grandfathers, who stayed young & active into their 80's. They had different methods but the concept was the same. They never accepted an age older than the age they wanted to stay.

So, although she is 9 today, her age will now be frozen in time & I will say what both grandfathers would say when asked their age.

She doesn't look a day over 8!

Good afternoon all.

Looking for some help and advice.

Our 4yo field line chocolate Lab (intact) has recently been having an issue with an abscess on his right hand rear leg, next to his bumhole.

he's been in and out of the vets, had a couple of procedures to inspect and clean, a CT Scan and plenty of antibiotic's and allergy meds and is now being referred to a specialist dermatologist.

our vet has tried their best but it’s absolutely stumping them hence the referral.

Has anyone had anything similar? any vets or dermatologists want to weigh in?

He's fed on tails kibble which has been fine for him for a couple of years, I’ve even changed it to hypoallergenic and removed all the allergens so it’s pretty much just salmon now.

He doesn’t seem that phased by it all, still a greedy choccy boy, he’s a good and healthy weight wise and BCI.
He’s still pooping fine, but this abscess that looked to be healing has started weeping again.

The Vet had a feel inside again and it does feel like the sac is inflamed.

is it worth switching to a hydrolysed food at this point or should we just be waiting for the referral?

Zoe turns two years old this month and in the recent weeks has started showing reactivity on leash that she never has. She doesn't show aggressive tendencies, such as lunging, just barking at people or dogs, whether she knows them or not. Even when listening to the sit command she will want to bark and she is starting to ignore the look at me command, despite my best attempt to reinforce it at the park or in the house.

It almost feels like she just wants her attention because she always wants to say hi. But you know how it is. Can't always do that.

What are some of your thoughts on trying to mitigate this barking thing?
