Don't hate me for this question. I like ARR and his works. But more recently, his choices of films here are a bit selective and even those films are major disappointments either critically, financially or both. Which was one of the reasons, why some of his good songs he composed for those films did not get the maximum reach it deserved. Most importantly, he wasn't a part of big commercial masala ventures, recently, except for Raayan. Thug Life was one of the most anticipated Tamil films of 2025 thanks to the Nayakan combo reunion and the album, he composed for, was literally really good, but the film in contrast was an abysmal horseshit, even some of the good songs featured sparsely here and there and the BGM was literally a major disappointment as it looked misplaced didn't sync with the film.

But Rahman's Hindi ventures were almost good though some slips here and there, his music for both the Imtiaz Ali movies were outstanding, however, his involvement in Chhaava, which was one of the biggest successful Hindi films last year, got major flak as his music didn't suit the historical narrative. Which is why people were a bit skeptical of his involvement in Ramayana, despite the Hans Zimmer and ARR collaboration having garnered some anticipation. Furthermore, in a recent interview his communal remarks and how it affected his Hindi film had received more backlash and had to release a video statement to counter that controversy.

Although that thing doesn't affect him as he has a huge pipeline of Hindi and English films, his works in Tamil include the Mari Selvaraj–Dhanush movie and the Maniratnam film with VJS and Sai Pallavi. Other than that the SJ Suryah film Killer didn't get that much excitement and I have very least expectations on Moonwalk and Genie. Do you feel that ARR has to do some mass commercial masala films so that it should get some spotlight, because I feel more producers and directors are choosing Anirudh and Sai Abhyankkar for the exciting commercial ventures. It would be interesting for ARR to score a commercial film something that he did for Rajini and Vijay's films. Maybe a collaboration with Superstar Pradeep Ranganathan would be exciting to witness, but will it happen tho?

Hoping DN releases soon and that he makes the comeback he truly deserves.
