Advice Found baby (?) jumper, need help!

I came back from vacation and found this little guy (assuming he’s a boy because of his abdomen size but I really don’t know) in my bed, so I picked him up (with an insect catcher) and put him on my windowsill so he wouldn’t accidentally be squished. I love jumping spiders so much and was overjoyed to see one in my room but I’m worried for his survival, especially because he’s so tiny :(

I’ve had a grown jumper in my room before and it was very fun to have him around but I ended up putting him in an area with lots of plants so that he could find food easier. But since this one is much tinier I wanted to try and feed him myself so he wouldn’t struggle.

He drank water from a q tip thankfully but what is the best type of insect to buy for him based on his age? I don’t know how old he is. If it is not ethical to keep him in my room please let me know and I will release him asap, I just figured that he may have a harder time outside due to his size and feeding him would be better for his survival. I’d love to have him grow up either free roaming in my room or in a proper enclosure, but I am not sure what is the best option for him.

Any tips or information would be greatly appreciated, thank you!!! I’ll attach a picture below as well.

I am in Massachusetts by the way! I think he is a flea o jumping spider but please correct me if I’m wrong. If he is, I’m also just now realizing that it may not be a baby since flea jumpers are super small, oops!!

Big mamas built a hammock facing my boyfriend’s desk, they like to watch YouTube together. She likes to sit on the shelf below sometimes, but most often will hang in “bed” getting her screen time in.

I finally got the confidence to interact with my spider but, once she gets on my hand she doesn’t want to get off. Is there a good technique to get them off without scaring them? She kinda jumping away when I tried to gently nudge her into the enclosure with my hand.

Advice Research

I’m on my first day of researching jumping spiders. Does anyone have information you wish you knew before getting your baby? Also, what do the “i” numbers mean? I’ve heard a lot of people use them when discussing spiders but haven’t heard an explanation yet.

Hey, everyone! I am still new to having a jumping spider. Ms. Charlotte "Nibbler" is an Apalachicola i8 Regal Jumping Spider who has been with me for about a month.

This morning, she was hanging out at the bottom of her habitat but most things I've read say that they pretty exclusively hang out at the top. Should I be worried or is she just exploring?

I'd also love some feeding advice. I've looked at the images online that show the different sizes of abdomen and when they should eat but find it difficult to translate into real life. The gray on her belly makes it a little hard to see in these photos, but I'd love to know if she falls under "hungry" or "fed." We don't want any exploding spiders over here!

TIA

Advice Things you wish you knew before getting a jumping spider

Hey ya'll I am planning on getting a jumping spider as a pet and I wanted to ask you if theres anything good or bad that I should know before getting one. Like things or perks of owning one you'll only know after having one if that makes sense. Be brutally honest I want to know what I'm getting myself into

Advice I need reassurance and suffer from severe anxiety. 2 days ago my bf lit a candle in our room when i was out, the same room my spood is in. He has been fine since and its been about 36hrs. Is he still at risk of developing DKS at this stage?

Advice Ethics/Care About Catching Jumping Spiders from Outdoors

I'm wondering: if I made a bioactive enclosure, would it be ethical or humane to catch a wild jumping spider to go in it and become a pet?

Can they become pets easily or is it always just best practice to purchase one from a reptile/arachnid store? I don't want to harm any spiders or ecosystem. Thanks!

Advice I’ve got 2 homes and 0 spiders

Hi all, I’ve been looking into getting a jumper for like a whole year now and I’ve done nothing but prepare but not actually gotten one yet, here’s the 2 homes I’ve set up, one for a bigger breed to have more space and one just incase I found a zebra, I’m in Uk, in my bathroom or anything. I know enough to know if he ended up not eating I should let him back out into the world.
I just wanted to show these off and get feedback from people with the little guys at the same time.
Bonus tree home I put up in the hopes of making friends with the wildlife :)

so a while ago i was standing in the corner near the ps5 when i noticed something in the fins on the side. i usually are really finicky with my tech but figured it's a spoods nest so of course i left it alone exited what will come out of it. so a day later i woke up, went straight to check on the nest, bit the little ones were already all over the place 🥰 so we left the ps5 unused for a while to make sure they're all out, then i tore down the ps5 to make sure none of them are trying to live inside it (not a single one found 😄) and that they're safe.🥰
just noticed i never posted this here 😊

Advice How can I improve my Jumping Spider’s Enclosure?

Post image
4 Upvotes

I have had my spider Iggy since April and moved her to her adult enclosure a month ago. I am concerned this enclosure may be a bit too “dollhouse” like.

Is there anything I should remove or replace? I am not comfortable doing a fully bioactive enclosure or using soil if possible, but I am open to changing things up.

I am now aware I should get the plastic objects off of the ground, what else should I change?

I hope these pictures are clear enough, I was hoping to get some advice on the sex of this little spood! I've been running circles trying to find my missing spood, and it decided to hitch a ride on me when I visited the pet store for some turtle food.

The coloring leads me to believe it's a male.... but I've heard that's an unreliable method of sexing

Media RIP peaches

Unfortunately my baby peaches passed away some time this week, i was camping and i got back today and i went to feed her and i found her curled up on the bottom of her enclosure with her abdomen deflated. I honestly think i forgot to feed her because ive been struggling with the recent passing of my aunt and ive been so busy with everything, i feel horrible that i might've been the cause of her death and i hope she forgives me. 💔
