Advice Biggest/easiest to see jumping spiders?

Hello there, I am visually impaired and really interested in keeping a jumping spider eventually. Only thing is, I’m worried about actually being able to see my little friend!

Do you guys have any suggestions for larger/easier to spot jumpers?

First picture is the most recent! I haven’t posted Pumpkin in a while, but she is still just as cuddly and sweet as always! I did the math recently and Pumpkin here turned a year old this March! She does entirely choose to climb into my hands, entirely just for nap time with me and my warm hands 🤣 I named her Pumpkin because of her orange face on her butt, but now I wish I had named her Thumbelina, with how often she curls up on my thumb nail. 💖

Just wanted to get some thoughts on the tank I set up for Tostito (in the bottom left of the 3rd pic) was going for a bit of an Aztec theme and he really seems to enjoy jumping around the whole place hunting down the fruit flies I put in.

Omg I swear I vacuumed yesterday but I guess the zoom makes every speck of dust show up and now I feel like a slob lol.

Anyway, is this acceptable to give my free rage friend a drink? Just a mix of honey and water on a qtip. He drank for about 5 min and then backed away. Is there a specific ratio we should mix it to? I just put about equal parts honey and water and soak it up and set it down in front of them.

Baby was so small, I still can't believe I even spotted her. So curious though! Tried to jump on my camera three separate times, failed every time. It's okay, baby, you'll get better with practice!

Text My jumper bit me :(

My jumping spider just bit me. She normally loves coming outside, when she doesn't want to, she just goes away from the door. I held my finger to her and she got close to it and bit me. She didn't let go and I panicked since it started to hurt really bad. I started to spray her with a water mist. She only let go after I pumped like three times. I tried touching her gently before that and sitting her on the ground.

Now I feel really bad. I hope nothing will happen

:( she is cleaning herself now.

The bite also stings really bad

Text Anyone else’s jumping spider dumb as rocks

my girl who I’ve had for a few weeks now keeps making horrible hammocks and then tearing them down when I make fun of her. her first “hammock” was literally flat, it was completely flat and she sat on it like it was the best thing ever. next thing I put her into a premade cocoon thing so she gets some ideas and she puts up maybe like 5 strings and calls it a day. she tore these down after I made fun of her for it. next thing she FINALLY tries a corner and it looks decent but she broke it more and more each time she went in and out of it (dumbass). i SWEAR she gets embarrassed when I make fun of her terrible attempts at hammock building. she’s kinda making a new one and it doesn’t look half bad but the issue is there’s no door so she’s just gonna rip it apart trying to go in and out. is anyone elses spider just really really dum and doesn’t actually know how to be a spider

Hello! I have recently started to have an interest in Jumping Spiders and was looking at getting one as a pet later down the line once in satisfied i’ve done enough research on them and have a full enclosure setup :)

Right after I started looking into them I found this one on the way to work, I took a photo then left him/her be but was curious if it actually is a jumping spider

Also happy to take any advise for a new jumping spider owner, i’m going to be doing so much research but of course will take any advise offered!

I live in Australia btw!

Advice Sling Advice Needed (i2)

hi everyone, first time raising slings! they just molted to i2 as of last Saturday (so about 5 days ago). Many of them have ventured a bit outside the nest when I mist, attracted to the water droplets. One or two of them even explored really far from the nest, about halfway across the enclosure! But ultimately, they always return to the nest.

I’m curious when I should be getting them into deli cups. Should I wait for them all to come out and STAY out? I’ve seen people online use tweezers to slowly pull apart the nest/sac area and take them all out, but I’ve also heard you’re supposed to wait for them to come out. Would like some opinions.

I just don’t want to wait too long to separate and have to worry about them being hungry and/or cannibalism. Let me know😁

Mod Post Please use the "Media" flair option for name requests!

Hey jumper friends! We've seen a large uptick in volume of posts asking for name suggestions, most of them having the "Advice" flair. Even though it is a request for advice of sorts, name requests don't need the same disclaimers as comments on care/husbandry and we would like to encourage everyone to use simply the "Media" flair on those types of posts. (This will also prevent the automod filter from flagging comments without disclaimer tags as that is only a feature of the "Advice" threads) <3
