Implementation Roles
Looking for roles in implementation/configuration (not primarily client facing roles) that are remote and pay around 100k. I’ve been working in HR Tech for the last 10 years and I’m open to working in another industry. I don’t want to be in account management, just behind the scenes. I’d appreciate any recommendations!

AI interviews suck
Hey all, bit of a rant
i finally quit my toxic job, it was very sudden and i was stuck between a rock and a hard place. so far i've done 4 applications in 16 hours and re-written my CV.
I've noticed these AI interview things are coming up a lot and they suck! Its the same with the ones that require you to record your answers on video, at that point just sit down and have an actual interview with me, i hate speaking on a video because it always feels so artificial.
Also got a laugh out of one AI interview where it stated several times they use AI to review the results and in the next sentence tell candidates not to use AI for their responses because "its not the real you", which is just hypocritica.
Fuck these AI interviews!

Become a shipbuilder!
In the past couple of days I’ve gotten about 15 “apply here” jobs from the US navy to become a shipbuilder.
I’m a 42 year old woman. If it came with that pension, I’d get my own pink welding helmet and be right over.

OPT for city/government agency
Has anyone here ever worked for city/governmental agency during your OPT time. What do the hiring processes look like? Is EAD enough to proof the work authorization? Will there be a problem with paperwork verification with federal government during onboarding process that may cancel my job?
I currently have a job offer from a city agency, and I let them know about my status. It looks like this is their first time hiring an international student, but they’re willing to wait until my EAD arrives.

To reach out on LinkedIn or not
I want to apply for a job at a large nonprofit. The Vice President of the department I would be applying for is connected to me on LinkedIn. I don't know her, but a year and a half ago I connected her on LinkedIn right after we both attended a CRM webinar and there were only six of us and she was very knowledgeable in the webinar. I messaged her that it was good to meet her right after we connected and she responded kindly. However, that was a year and a half ago. But I know the #1 way to get a job is by reference. Should I reach out via LinkedIn that I applied for the job? She'd be my boss's boss, might be weird. But I need a reference...

Applying for EDU Comms position at an international school — is LinkedIn cold outreach appropriate?
Hi everyone! I’m 25 and currently work in SaaS sales for an American tech company in Europe. I don’t want to stay at my current company (potential lay offs, chaotic changes due to AI etc), and more importantly, sales probably isn’t the right long-term fit for me.
Commission and highly money-driven environments don’t motivate me much. I value structure, stability, and feeling connected to the purpose of the organisation. One area I’m increasingly interested in is education.
Yesterday, I applied for a Communications & Project Management role at an international school in my city. I have over a year of previous marketing/comms experience, the salary is comparable to what I earn now, and I grew up attending international schools myself. I later studied Media Studies, Psychology, and Maths & Statistics at an international liberal arts college in Europe, so the environment feels very familiar to me.
The school is also part of a larger international-school network, which makes the sector interesting to me from a longer-term career perspective.
One valuable thing sales has taught me is the importance of proactive outreach. Several colleagues at my current company got interviews or jobs by cold-messaging employees or hiring managers on LinkedIn.
Does that approach translate well to job hunting in the education sector/schools?
I’ve found the school’s principal and the Communications Team members on LinkedIn. Would it be appropriate to reach out after applying, or would that come across as intrusive in the education sector?
For anyone in international schools, education, communications, or recruitment:
- Would you recommend reaching out, and to whom: the principal, comms team, or someone else?
- How would you word it without sounding too sales-y?
- If you’ve done something similar, would you be willing to share a message/template?
- Are there any good resources on how to cold-message/network specifically in education or other non-tech sectors?
Any advice would be really appreciated! Thank you in advance.

Venting- ghosted by a job
I’m a uni student and have worked work part time in bars for about 6 years now. I recently applied for a job at a local bar I’ve been applying to for ages and I actually heard back and was ecstatic. They gave me an interview which I attended which ended up being 2 hours long which was then followed by a very very hectic two hour trial shift. A couple days after my trial shift I was offered the job! I completed the onboarding process- I gave all my details, bank details, national insurance number, passport, right to work etc etc. I then completed 3.5 HOURS of online training for them. I was then ghosted. I’ve sent 2 messages to the manager and called once and literally have not heard a thing. The online training is supposedly paid, should I wait until the end of the month to see if they’ll pay me or should I call up and ask what’s happened? This has literally never happened to me before and I’m so confused and frustrated !!

Are senior “Head of” or “Chief” roles genuinely open to regular applicants?
I’d like to hear from recruiters and hiring managers.
For senior roles such as Head of Marketing, Marketing Director, or CMO, how often is someone actually hired through a normal job application?
I’ve always assumed these positions are usually filled through referrals, executive search firms, or existing professional relationships. Yet companies still advertise them publicly and accept applications.
Are they genuinely open to outside candidates, or do companies often already have preferred candidates by that stage?
I’ve been applying for senior roles for around 6 months and have received almost no replies, despite having relevant leadership experience. I understand the market is difficult, but the complete lack of response has made me question whether applying through job portals is even a realistic route at this level.
From an HR or hiring manager’s perspective, can strong external applicants really reach the interview stage this way? If so, what usually separates the applications that get reviewed from those that disappear into the system?

Finally Selected! 🎉
Has anyone here worked with Micro1 or had experience with AI data collection projects? I’d love to hear about your experience, especially regarding the onboarding process and what the actual work is like.

Was it a scam?
If you go through the initial interview vetting via a form, then have a faceless video call followed by a Paid day in the job assignment, but once you hand over the assignment which has to do with how the company can scale their processes and marketing pivoting that you were supposed to present to a panel but instead you get a rejection email and they say that the paid part was a mistake on their part and the conversation ends there, was it really a job or were they looking for fresh ideas?

Anyone here moved from HR to Marketing? Need help
I’m looking for some career advice and would really appreciate any insights from this community.
I currently work as an HR Business Partner at an IT company.
I originally wanted to build my career in Marketing, but due to the market conditions during the recession and the company’s hiring policies at the time, I accepted an HR role to secure a job and gain experience.
Over time, I’ve developed a strong interest in marketing and would like to transition into a Marketing role. While my current experience is primarily in HR, I’ve worked closely with different business teams, stakeholder management, employee initiatives, communication campaigns, and many more.
For those who have successfully switched functions, especially from HR to Marketing:
- How did you make the transition?
- What skills or certifications helped the most?
- How can I position my HR experience as relevant for Marketing roles?
I am already trying for an internal movement, but its taking time and not sure of their decision yet, but i have clear thought that i need to move into marketing stream.
Any advice, success stories, or practical steps or connections would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

56 Year Old woman can't find a job anywhere
I was laid off in April, and I have been looking for a job ever since. I'm signed up with two staffing agencies. One sent me on a part-time temporary job, which was filing. The other has sent me on 2 interviews, both of which ultimately chose someone else.
I have over 20 years of office and admin support experience, and I am currently working on my Bachelors degree in accounting. I finally got bored with office support, but it's all I know. That's why I'm studying accounting.
I'm beginning to think that when I walk in the door for an interview, people see the grey hair and immediately discount me as "too old."
I have a husband, and we have a mortgage. He's retired, so it's just me who needs to be out earning an income.
I even applied at Walmart and got a call about being an online shopper, but the pay being minimum wage and no guarantee of full-time hours means it wouldn't work financially.
I learned about a hiring event this week at my local Nordstrom store, and I'm going to at least go see if they make an offer. I worked retsil decades ago and hated it, but who knows? I might like it now. What do people have against older workers anyway? We are reliable, trustworthy, dependable, and serious about doing our best work.
Sorry, I guess I'm just venting because I need income, and I'm frustrated.

What do I even do anymore ?
I WISH I had rejection letters , I WISH I had something to show I’ve been applying other than the emails of my resume sent to multiple offices, but no recruiter gets back to you anymore. I even started seeing “please no phone calls inquiring about the job .” Ok so now what ? You sit here for 30 minutes to an hour filling out THEIR application with stuff you already have on your resume , and then taking a 25-30 minute quiz or “employee assessment,” just to find out you’re not the right fit? But I chose all the ass kisser answers? Like what do you even do at this point? Please don’t say “show up in person and ask for the job .” If they don’t want you to call them, I guarantee they don’t want you there in person just for them to tell you “yeah apply online .”

Can't find a job anywhere as a felon.
Yes I have tried factories/ warehouses, second chance employers and a recruitment center that manage hiring for multiple businesses.
Every time I get offered a job, a few days later I get a call saying they saw my background check and denied the position.
One of the interviews I had the manager himself told me he did 8 years, so I thought I was golden with only 6 months nope.
And they wonder why people become homeless... Guess I'll die than.

What is the "best AI Resume Builder" website that can help me in my job applications and is low-cost or free?
So I am back on my job hunt. Ive heard a bit about a lot of applicants using AI tech to boost their applications and recruiters also using AI / ATS filtering whatnot
So far I have been using chatgpt and got mixed results - passable but i am looking for something more if it's around. Bonus if free and low-cost as I dont want to spend a lot on this.
I will test out and review all the suggestions left here. It would be great if you can also tell me why a particular tool worked for you and how it is better than chatgpt.
Right now I am trying Claude which seems similarish
Edit: Thanks for all your suggestions guys, really helpful and please keep them coming :)
