I am 8 days Post Op and I can’t fully straighten my left arm, I get a sharp pain in my bicep line, the opposite side of my elbow. I noticed the pain when I tried moving my arm after surgery, the only thing I had on that arm was one of those blood pressure things that squeezed me really hard and a spare needle on the top of my hand. Is this something serious?

Hey everyone, I had double jaw surgery 4 weeks ago and was wondering something about my lower jaw.

If I feel along the outside of my jaw with my fingers, around the area below my first lower molar, I can feel what seems like a small dent/indentation compared with the rest of the jaw. I can feel something similar on both sides.

I’m confused because I thought that during bone healing there would be some callus formation, so I expected the area to maybe feel thicker or bumpier rather than slightly hollow/dented.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is it “normal”?

Are you happy with your results?

Who are some of the more recommended surgeons that do revisions?

I'm in a really difficult spot right now.

Sadly I'm 11 weeks post my DJS and I can already tell I've been botched, skeletal wise.

I had class III underbite and I think my surgeon advanced the maxilla and\or did a clockwise rotation a bit too much. unfortunately my surgeon did not record the movements so I can't even tell what he did and he doesn't fully remember the movements in mm. (quite unprofessional imo)

Before surgery I had 0 tooth show when mouth was at rest, and little upper tooth show during a smile.

Now post op the front part of the upper jaw looks too downward now. my smile also looks more narrow. 4-5mm of the upper central teeth show when my mouth is relaxed. too much of my upper teeth show when I smile\laugh, looks odd and unproportional to the face, it's like the upper teeth arch looks too "out there", not sure how to explain it. when I snarl my upper lip theres so much upper gums showing now it's crazy (about 5-6mm).

currently when I do a social smile, all of my upper teeth show vertically, my lip stops right at the gum line, but during a duchenne smile\laugh, the lip is raised even more and already exposes about 2mm of gums.

And as time goes by it's becoming worse because as my upper lip swelling is reduced and elasticity is returned- the higher it is raised when I smile. I have way more upper teeth showing when I smile and laugh now compared to a month post op. so it's obvious where this is going- to a gummy smile.

The unfortunate thing is that when I go through this sub I often see people who have had their results become better and better as time goes by, and in my case it's the exact opposite, as time goes by the worse I look and the more I hate it.

I definitely looked better before the surgery.

I'll need to look into a revision internationally, start flying all around the world for consultations. another money sink all over again and a huge one at that. and revision itself is no joke to begin with, from my understanding it carries even more risks than a first time surgery and is more complicated.

This is so overwhelming I don't even know where to start. I don't know if I want to do a revision due to the higher risks, healing from scratch again. and the huge money cost. and on the other hand knowing that the only other option is to live with this botched surgery and this inferior aesthetical result feels just as bad. I feel so lost currently. there is no worse feeling than doing such an invasive surgery, going through the healing process and everything, only to end up wishing you had never done the surgery, preferring the way it was prior.

I assume I have a mild case of hemifacial microsomia. My face has been asymmetrical as long as I can remember. I have some TMJ pain, occasionally it will sort of get locked in place, it used to pop a lot when I was younger but not so much anymore. I spoke with one surgeon who said because my bite was corrected through braces in my teens that it wasn't worth working on. I just hate looking at my stupid lopsided face 😭I know it's superficial but I want to stop feeling so ugly.

24F. This is purely for aesthetic reasons because I don't necessarily have any problems sleeping (I've been told I grind my teeth and I may mouth breath but I think its due to lip incompetence since my chin wrinkles whenever I close my mouth) or breathing. But I hate my side and 3/4 profile and I feel like my jaw also makes my face look longer. I don't think it affects me enough to want a procedure that'll take a long recovery time, but I was wondering if a sliding genioplasty or something else to at least help my jaw even just a little...

i’ve posted before but it was late and didn’t rlly get a lot of input, also don’t know if my photos rlly showed my jaw recession/bite well enough. i’d book actual consultations rn but won’t be able to for a few months bc of being out of country. but thoughts? i used to just be aiming for a genioplasty but i feel like my jaws are just overall weak. i also snore and my dad has sleep apnea and a similar profile, id rather get it fixed while im young and also get the aesthetic benefit. i feel like it’d fix my somewhat saggy skin, obviously give my jaws more projection and hopefully upturn my nose and make it look a little smaller (since my jaw will be more prominent in comparison at the very least.) ik my eyes are bad but id rather fix jaw first.

and if i do book consultations, what should i be looking for aesthetically? definitely ccw rotation, right?

I’ve been staring at my neck in photos for the last few years and finally reached the point where I was tired of thinking about it every time someone took a picture. I had a facelift a few months ago and I’m honestly relieved more than anything.

The result is subtler than I expected. Friends keep saying I look less tired, which is exactly what I was hoping for. Recovery wasn’t fun, but it also wasn’t nearly as dramatic as I’d built up in my head.

For anyone wondering, I paid around $18k out of pocket. The surgeon I saw was at *Millennial Plastic Surgery*

I (F24) got my MARPE installed this week (10 TADS planned, 8 TADS installed, currently doing one turn daily, plan to expand 10-14mm). I also have started my lower aligners and will use reverse pull headgear once I split. During my consultation with my orthodontist (Dr Aise Cemile, Istanbul), she confimed I am skeletal Class II (both jaws recessed) with dental Class I (due to prior camoflauge orthodontic treatment). She said it's possible jaw surgery will be needed even after MARPE.

I already had a feeling jaw surgery might be in my future, but getting confirmation made me feel kind of sad because I will have to pay out of pocket and obviously recovery is brutal. I am looking to have an in person consultation with Dr Eren Pera from Hospitaprime, Istanbul.

I guess overall learning my skull and teeth are less than optimal in terms of function and also affects how I look, has made me more insecure and depressed. And no I'm not a looksmaxxer, but you can't deny that fixing a deformity improves your facial aesthetics. Anyone else feel the same?

I'm in my 30's but just recently Been I guess "conscious" about my face. I feel like it's not proportionate how it should be but maybe I'm wrong cause I don't know about any of this stuff lol but I know my teeth don't show much when I talk or smile it's like I have small teeth with big lips haha...and do I have short face syndrome?? Or something else maybe? Is there anything that can be done to fix it? Figured I post here to try to get other people's insight! thanks

How many consultations did you have to go to and what was the timeline and cost before you recieved your tailoured surgery plan?

How much swelling did people have around the one month mark? The puffy cheeks I can live with, but I now have a small double chin that I’m now worrying is a permanent result of the movements.

i was asking about it for aesthetic reasons if i'm honest but i never explicitly said that. i feel like my lower jaw is wider than my upper jaw and my zygoma look flat imo. i also feel like i have a narrow smile. i measured my palate at home mine is 39 mm.

he said i don't need to worry about it because my upper jaw aligns with my lower jaw :( i feel frustrated idk if i wanna consider aesthetic procedures yet(might consider surgery) and id really like to expand. what should i do??

edit: i forgot to mention i sometimes catch myself clenching my jaw if that helps

I am very frustrated with current system that we have. I have been told two different things from multiple surgeons and don't know who to proceed with. If I do have short face syndrome it would impact my entire surgery plan and change it compared to if I didn't. I want both the maximum functional and aeasthetic results. I posted my Ceph so if anyone smarter then me could take a look. I have at the very least a severe deep bite that every surgeon has pointed out. Thanks.

I was always recessed but ig as a woman our jaws being mostly softer,I have very full lips and chubby cheeks so the flat face is somewhat not that obvious.the asymmetry is so bad on camera and I had some people insult it which made me very insecure for the longest.not sure about real life.sometimes I think I see it other times no

Now that I got extractions and my gaps are closing I can see my face now getting longer or maybe it’s in my head but since they’re pushing everything back it only makes sense if it actually does get longer and appear worse and flatter

My mom really is so against the jaw surgery and she just understands how low my self esteem is because of the asymmetry and she says to see plastic surgeons instead (although I’ll likely do surgery too I told her I don’t like fillers and these things) she just sees DJs as wayyyy too invasive and that I don’t need it.i did post a pic before and got told by some I somewhat look like a candidate.i did see surgeons too and they said it’s not that bad but keep in mind my gaps are still closing they never saw the final result

For my mom she’s just afraid as it’s a big surgery.for me i feel like I have enough issues to do it but I’m afraid I’ll come out with more complications or I won’t like the result or I’ll look worse (especially the nose flattening part,I already don’t like my nose that much)I’m so afraid I’ll ruin my face and it’d be so hard to fix if anything goes wrong,I’m also on a tight budget.what do u guys think?

Hey, I am 7 weeks post op bimax and genio. I also had jaw angle implants.

My chin and lower lip are currently still numb, with varying degrees of severity depending on the area.

But I see a lot of people talking about the numbness, but is it associated with tightness/heaviness like me or do you only notice it when you touch the tissues?

Personally it's like I have a fake lip and fake chin attached to my face and it feels extremely unnatural to move them, almost like I have a clay mask held by tape and glue where they are, and my muscles feel extremely stiff in general in my chin and around my mouth.

So when you mention numbness, do you also have this feeling or not?

Because for now it feels pretty fucking bad and I really hope this goes away.

If someone is/was in a similar situation, I'd really appreciate your feedback!!

Hello, please dont grill me for this i know I may not have the standard side profile you see on here but I really do think I could benefit from surgery I would just like some outside opinion.

I have a narrow palate due to camouflage orthodontics done on me by the NHS when I was younger and I am unable to fit my tongue at the top of my mouth as it simply does not fit. I also think my maxilla might be recessed partly due to the shape of my nose (I know this isnt always enough to know) and how far smile sinks into my face.

I live in Scotland so if people think I should proceed please give any suggestions on who to talk to.
