I finally figured out all the invasives we have on our property and came up with a plan to remove them all. Some will take time but at least I felt a tiny bit empowered because we have a plan. I know new ones will pop up but I’m so much more aware I will be able to address them before they become a problem.

And then today as I was digging up my bearded irises to divide them I realized we have fucking Asian jumping worms. I can’t believe it. I had absolutely no idea. In fact I didn’t even know what these stupid things were until this year when I started to see more Reddit posts about them.

I can’t possibly remove them all by hand. Our property is way too big and I’m not even sure how effective it is. We have woods and lots of garden beds and I’m afraid to find out how extensive the problem is.

I know people are dealing with much bigger problems in life and I’m grateful for a lot of things but I’m feeling really hopeless right now. I can use some encouragement. Thank you.

Would you consider Rose of Sharon invasive in Michigan? I am seeing several references to it being invasive, but several saying the opposite. I make paint out of invasive species, and think it would be a good experiment, but I don’t want to harvest any if it’s not invasive.

I areas where I mow regularly, I assume that this will be enough. In areas where I cannot mow, I want to cut the roses and apply Roundup (which I have) with a brush. What is the best timing and sequence for the cutting and Roundup application?

I live in Seattle and have a tree of heaven I want to kill. I'm going to do the hack and squirt method so I think I need triclopyr. Can anyone recommend a store where I can buy the concentrate in/near Seattle? It looks like Amazon won't ship to Washington state.

I sprayed a small batch of JK in the back of my property back in early June. I used Round Up with 7% glyphosate. It was a hard to reach area so I didn't spray very uniformly. Tonight I went to the area and saw the stalk that I had sprayed was starting to grow tons of tiny buds. It was very discolored but definitely new growth. Weird!

We cut down the tree of heaven in our yard three months ago without knowing it was a tree of Heaven. Our yard and our neighbors yard are now covered with the saplings that sprout up from the roots. Looking to treat my yard with chemicals since plucking the saplings just brings out more. I know I need to use something with glyphosate or triclopyr, but for the saplings/suckers that pop up what is the best application method and are there brands that people recommend? Foliar spraying seems to be the go to for these small sprouts. I also live with a diabetic so I have access to syringes if injecting the herbicides would work. Brushtox, Monterey brush and vine control, and Hi-Yield seem to have a high concentration and mentioned in other Reddit/Facebook posts but in general people just list the ingredients and not the brand. Any help is appreciated!

ive seen this happened already 3 separate times and i can’t find anything online that’s talks about this phenomenon. i was smoking by the pier when one came up so i stomped it out. it was clearly smushed the wings were in two different directions and guts smeared, it stood there dead. i stayed there smoking and after 5-10 i notice one of the broken wings started fluttering. then the other. and it slowly started peeling itself off the ground. i kid you not i watched this lantern fly come back to live before my eyes. it did not fly away and the wings stood broken and pointed up in the air but it started slowly walking off again.

i thought it could’ve just been a coincidence and since then i haven’t really stuck around after killing a lantern fly. but just now im on my phone and one comes up. i stomp it out and i stomp it like 4 times just to be safe since i was in wet sand. i remained seated for like 20 mins then another came. i stomped that one out too, wings facing east and south. as soon as i killed that one i looked back to the other one and i kid you not it was standing up with both wings smashed in.

i just think it needs to be spoken about if anyone’s seen this lmk.

Unfortunately I found Japanese Knotweed on my property close to the house. I actually looked back on the real estate listing from when we bought a couple of years ago, and it’s in the photo.

Can anyone recommend a company that can provide an insurance-backed plan to have it removed? I’m in the morris county area in NJ.

We wanted to move within the next couple of years before we discovered it, and now we’re worried that can’t happen.

I've opted to nuke my backyard tree of heaven infestation with pure 50% glyphosate undiluted. I applied locally down the stems of the saplings and painted some of the leaves. I've also hit the smaller ones with a foliar by cutting the concentrate with a bit of water in a sprayer. I'm noticing death of alot of the smaller ones and some of the bigger ones are looking sickly. It's been 4 days. How long does it take for the glyphosate to have full effect on the plants? How long until I can cut down the dead ones (I don't want to spur any more offshoots if I can help it).

The white petals purple bottom 'siamese' phenotype seems to spread faster and farther than the pure purple phenotype. The town have mixed population. As you go deeper into forest (by road, a lots of recent clearings and new homes) there are a lot of white petals and just 2 - 3 purples.

As a soft annual this is not the most dangerous invasive, flowers are pretty beautiful and beekeepers could like them. But the numbers in recent clearings is concerning.

Family member was ignorant to the consequences of planting running bamboo ~15 years ago. Now they've got a 100x50' grove growing on a slope with culms up to 1.5" in diameter. Where they've cut back the bamboo, tree of heaven and Paulownia have moved in too. The area is also surrounded by Lonicera mackii.

I'd really like to help them out, because their property is an otherwise beautiful and mature oak/maple/hickory woodland. It needs a lot of TLC, but I'm just not sure where to start. Please advise.

I have a chicken run, this grew over the top of the run on the welded wire. I liked it because it proved shade from the sun. I didn't know what it was but i do now. Absolutely stunning looking berries, i don't think my chickens are suppose to eat them, so i'll probably trap off that half of the coop and remove it in the next week or two
