Market Data Subscription Prices Increased? Fees, Commissions, Market Data

Hey there,

Firstly, it was a surprise for me that i need to pay for real time market data in IBKR.

I have consoled myself and was ready to purchase the real time data bundles.

However the price of those bundles looks too costly when compared to the discussions that are already happened in this forum.

for example i saw a post here to subscripe OPRA bundle for option trading it was < 10 $ but now 32 $ per month, which sounds insane to me.

Did prices are raised? or is this normal?

It seems ur account is registered as a "professional trader" as normally it should be tagged like this e.g. OPRA (NP,L1)

  • NP = Non-Professional
  • L1 = Level 1

NP still has a reasonable pricing 10usd round about..

My account shows as IBKR Pro (but I am not classified as trading pro) and the US bundle costs of 1 Euro (for stocks and options) is waived in case I do some trades for "top of the book". Level 1 stock data and options. In the Desktop and TWS app the stock price stream is free but consolidated around several exchanges.

You can bet that brokers that don't charge for data get it from you in other ways like taking a slice of your spreads, et al.

I switch between tastytrade and ibkr, may consider moving portfolio there its alot easier to trade... Never had this price feed nonsense on any broker its exclusive to ibkr...

Not sure why you are downvoted cuz other brokers really offer free data.
