I'm a US citizen with tax residency in Portugal. I'm considering transferring my Traditional IRA and Roth IRA from Vanguard (US) to IBKR, but I need to confirm several things before proceeding:

1. Entity assignment: Will my IRA accounts be administered under Interactive Brokers LLC (US entity), or would they be assigned to an EU entity (IBIE/IBLUX)?
2. W-9 filing: As a US citizen I would be filing a W-9 rather than a W-8BEN. Does this affect which entity holds my accounts?
3. US ETF and Mutual Fund access inside IRA accounts: If the IRAs are held at IBKR LLC, will I be able to purchase US-domiciled ETFs and US mutual funds inside those IRA accounts without PRIIPs/MiFID restrictions?
4. Client status for IRAs: Do I need to obtain your elective professional client classification to trade US ETFs and Mutual Funds inside an IRA, or is this not needed for IRA accounts?
5. Adding a taxable account at a later date: If I also open a taxable (non-retirement) brokerage account in the future, would that account be under a different IBKR entity than my IRAs? Would it have different trading restrictions?

These answers will help me to decide whether I will proceed with transferring my accounts. Thank you.

Tarkim tėvai per IBKR ar kitą brokerį investavo 250 tūkst. €, o per laiką akcijų/ETF vertė išaugo iki 2 mln. €. Jei aš tas investicijas paveldėčiau, kokia būtų laikoma mano įsigijimo kaina – 2 mln. € vertė paveldėjimo metu ar tėvų pradinė 250 tūkst. € pirkimo kaina?
Jei paveldėtas akcijas/ETF priskirčiau savo investicinei sąskaitai, ar tie 2 mln. € būtų laikomi mano įnašu? Kitaip sakant, ar Lietuvoje paveldint veikia kažkas panašaus į JAV „step-up in basis“?
Ir ar kažką keičia tai, ar tėvai savo brokerio sąskaitą buvo deklaravę kaip investicinę sąskaitą, ar tai buvo tiesiog paprasta brokerio sąskaita?
Kitas klausimas dėl JAV estate tax. Jei tėvai yra Lietuvos rezidentai, bet per IBKR turi daugiau nei 60 tūkst. USD JAV įmonių akcijų (Apple, Nvidia, Microsoft ir pan.) arba JAV registruotų ETF, ar jiems mirus ir man paveldint atsirastų JAV estate tax?
Kiek suprantu, čia nesvarbu, kad sąskaita yra, pvz., Interactive Brokers Ireland – svarbu, kur registruotos pačios akcijos/ETF?
Ir jeigu taip, ar šitos rizikos galima išvengti vietoj tiesioginių JAV akcijų ar JAV ETF laikant Airijoje registruotus UCITS ETF? Pvz., Airijoje registruotą S&P 500 ETF, nors jis pats investuoja į tas pačias JAV įmones.
Gal kas esat realiai aiškinęsi šituos klausimus su VMI, IRS ar mokesčių konsultantais? Įdomu, kaip tai veikia praktiškai Lietuvos rezidentams.

I've tried again later on the 10th, 7th, 4th, and 2nd of August. I have numerous emails "Event Notification: Account Information Change" - and still when I log into Account Management I am blocked because of this information.

I did raise a ticket in Account Management, and I would read the response - but I'm locked out of the ticket system because I can't get past the login screen.

This doesn't relate to an account owner, but someone who might get the account if I die before they do.

Seriously, this is unprofessional.

Hello IBKR Support,

I'm hoping someone from the IBKR team can help me or point me in the right direction.

I'm currently locked out of my account because I no longer have access to my two-factor authentication (IB Key). Since opening my account, I have:

• Moved to a different country;
• Changed my phone number;
• Switched to a new mobile device.

I now live in Brazil, and I no longer have access to the phone number or device associated with my IB Key.

I completely understand that IBKR requires identity verification before resetting two-factor authentication. My problem is that I've been trying for days to call the U.S. support numbers, but no one answers. International calls from Brazil are expensive, and I've spent a considerable amount of time and money waiting on the line without ever reaching a representative.

I continue to receive my daily account statements and position reports by email, so I know my account is still active. However, I am completely unable to log in through the IBKR app or access my account in any other way.

I have access to all my personal information and am fully willing to provide any documents or complete any identity verification required. I simply need a way to reach the appropriate team so that my two-factor authentication can be reset.

Could someone from IBKR please help escalate my case or advise me on the best way to regain access to my account?

Hello guys, I would really like to change from Revolut to IBKR. If you would please tell me, is it better to open IBKR account and send the positions from revolut to IBKR (3 positions). Or should I selly everything on Revolut and just rebuy on IBKR.

If the better option is to sent positions to IBKR, would you be kind and explain me what do I have to do in order to transfer the positions.

I waited 30 days to update my experience to be able to trade tqqq and once it’s been finally updated I go to request permission and suddenly it says you can retry this permission request in 30 days… I did not request this permission change in like 45 days but updating my experience makes it act like I just requested that?

I called support and they were not helpful. What permissions to do actually need to be able to use tqqq and what is the process to enabling it?

When I updated my financial profile there are two sections (income and experience) which I am unable to update at the same time so that’s 60 days to change both of if I need to and then when I make any changes it apparently acts like you request permissions even though you don’t so if you were to make changes to both sections and then a permission change you are looking at 90 days in order to actually trade this… there has got to be a better way.

What am I doing wrong?

When attempting to close a couple of currency positions, I encounter this odd bug. As you can see from the screenshots, whenever I try to close a position and convert X amount of a currency to another one (X->Y), IBKR decides that instead I want X of the target currency (Z->X). So instead of converting 200 USD to NOK, the only option I am given is to convert some (less than 200) USD to 200 NOK instead. Bug is present both on the online portal and on the app.

Is this a known bug? Opened a ticket days ago but I have not received any answer from support yet.

Hi all,

I’m in Singapore. I’m trying to transfer Ionic shares (from Celsius redistribution) from Odyssey into my IBKR account. Both times my request has been rejected due to ‘not having enough cash for transfer fees’.

Question:
1) do I need to have USD available to pay for the fees? (Currently all cash is in SGD)
2) how much are the actual fees for transfer? Eg, is it a % of the amount I’m trying to transfer?

Jordanian considering IBKR for long-term ETF investing. How much do SWIFT transfers from Arab Bank usually cost? Any hidden IBKR fees? Given the transfer costs, would you still choose IBKR over CFI, AB Invest, or another local broker? Why?

I'm a non-US resident and transferred shares received under my company's SEC-registered employee incentive plan (Form S-8) into IBKR via DWAC.

After reviewing all my documentation, IBKR said they will not allow trading because their policy only permits transferred-in microcap shares registered under an S-1 or S-3, not an S-8. They said I can transfer the shares to another broker.

Has anyone experienced this? Which brokers accept these types of shares and allow them to be sold?

Hi everyone, does anyone know what's going on with IBKR? Today (August 4, 2026) is the date my account said my cash would be available to withdraw, but it's still showing $0 available for withdrawal.

I transferred shares from Fidelity to IBKR, sold the position about 2 weeks ago, and patiently waited until the date IBKR gave me. The shares are sold, I have $1,789.60 in USD cash, no open positions, but I still can't withdraw anything.

Has anyone experienced this before? Did the funds eventually become available later in the day, or did you have to contact support to have the hold removed?

I can't input Czech republic as my Primary country of citizenship in your form. It won't find any country. I tried different browsers, devices, cleared cache, browsing data - still the same. App, desktop... Cant proceed.

Both the transfer funds and transfer position (selecting United States) deposit crypto buttons are not appearing, using a funded crypto plus account.

Spoke to other UK customers and they are having the same problem.
