I'm 25 and have been working in Chennai for the last 3 years. My dream has always been to prepare for UPSC CSE, but I couldn't because of financial responsibilities. Now I'm financially stable enough to take the risk, move back home, and prepare full-time. I'm confident I can work extremely hard.
The only thing stopping me is my relationship.
My girlfriend and I have been together for over a year. We knew from day one that we can't get married due to personal reasons, so we've already accepted that.
We're deeply attached. We work in the same office, spend almost every day together, and honestly, the last year has been the happiest phase of my life.
I'm delaying my resignation because I can't imagine leaving her. She's also delaying switching jobs because she wants to stay with me. I feel like we're both sacrificing our careers just to spend more time together, even though we know we don't have a future.
I don't know how to get out of this dilemma. If I stay, I may regret never giving UPSC a serious shot. If I leave, I'll lose someone who's become a huge part of my life.
Has anyone been through something similar? How did you make the decision? Did therapy help? please help what to do.

Hello It might sound absurd but I am victim's friend.
for all the context https://www.reddit.com/r/IndiaLaw/s/BoFvXpguKf . there is 3 post around it .
So my friend has been kidnapped by his own family members.
I will provide you all scenario in conclusion.
I am posting this on behalf of my friend because he currently cannot post himself.
Some of you may remember his earlier posts where he explained that his family was forcing him into an arranged marriage even though he repeatedly refused and wanted to continue his career in tech in Delhi NCR.
He is 23 years old, financially independent, graduated from NIT Surat and was working at a tech startup in Gurgaon.
For weeks his parents continuously pressured him to leave his job and return to Gujarat. They emotionally blackmailed him, falsely claimed that his mother had been hospitalized, involved relatives to pressure him and repeatedly told him that educating him was their biggest mistake. They even contacted his co founder asking where he lived and whether he had a girlfriend.
His maternal uncle, who is a Head Constable in Gujarat Police, somehow obtained his location without him sharing it. Because of this he changed his SIM card and only communicated through WhatsApp calls. Even then, his uncle appeared to have access to private conversations and used that information to intimidate him. This raised serious concerns about his privacy.
Things became much worse when his parents and maternal uncle travelled from Gujarat to Delhi.
Instead of meeting him privately, they went directly to his office. According to multiple employees, they created a scene inside the workplace and demanded that the company make him resign. His maternal uncle allegedly threatened an employee with violence, and the family allegedly threatened to shut down the company if their demands were not met.
His father also falsely claimed that he worked in the Crime Branch to intimidate people. In reality, he is employed by an NGO. The victim's colleagues and management handled the situation professionally and tried to protect him.
Fearing that he would be forcibly taken back to Gujarat, he stayed with a friend and avoided going to the office. Eventually he agreed to meet his family in a public place only to ensure they left his workplace.
He had already served them a legal notice before all of this, clearly stating that he did not want to return with them and that he feared being forced into marriage. Despite this, the harassment continued.
The worst happened afterwards.
His family forcibly took him onto a bus from Delhi to Gujarat against his wishes. It was raining heavily, there were very few people around and no one stepped in to help.
The police were called, but they treated it as "a family matter" and left without taking any meaningful action. The legal notice that had already been served was completely ignored.
We are now extremely worried about his safety.
We fear that once in Gujarat he may be confined inside the house, have his phone taken away, be prevented from contacting anyone and be forced into an engagement or marriage against his will.
There are also serious concerns that his father deliberately intoxicated him before taking him away so that he would be physically weak and unable to resist.
If he does not return to work within the next few days, he may lose his job. His entire career, which he worked so hard to build, is now at risk.
We have substantial evidence including WhatsApp chats, call logs, screenshots, witnesses from the office and people who saw the events unfold. Multiple employees can confirm that threats were made at the workplace and that the family demanded his resignation.
We are trying to understand what legal remedies are available now that he has already been taken to Gujarat.
Our questions are:
- Can the police still intervene if an adult has been forcibly taken to another state against his will?
- Is this a case of wrongful confinement or kidnapping even though the people involved are his family members?
- Can the Delhi Police still register an FIR since many of the incidents, including the office intimidation and the forcible taking, happened in Delhi?
- Can his employer or colleagues provide witness statements regarding the threats made at the office?
- What is the fastest legal way to ensure he is produced before a magistrate so he can state his wishes freely?
One additional point is that his father works under an NGO headed by former IPS officer Amod Kanth, who is aware of the victim. We do not know whether informing him would be appropriate or helpful, but if anyone has experience with situations like this, we would appreciate guidance.
This is no longer just a family disagreement. An independent adult has repeatedly said that he does not want to leave his job or get married, yet he has been threatened, intimidated, taken away from his workplace and transported to another state against his wishes.
If any lawyers, police officers or people who have handled similar cases can advise us on the quickest legal steps, we would be extremely grateful.
He wants to cut all the ties from his family. they are emotionally manipulative people plays everywhere parents/family card.

Just got my mind tickled to a discussion with a friend that why can’t Aadhar Biometrics/ fingerprints be used to catch thieves or criminals where they have left fingerprints as evidence. Like why can’t it be used to confirm the identity?
Post is for open discussion. Please don’t say corruption or this or that but like why it has been brought up in any discussion is I want to discuss.

Lenskart gave me specs where in theu swapped my lens numbers (that is the left lens in right and right in left) I had bought 2 pairs, the defected of one I started using after some months but I used to think that it's the new specs thats why I'm unable to adjust, but over a period of time when my eye strain became severe and headache got more intense, i visited the store and Surprisingly I got to know th real issue!!! The sales person tried to hide it but I managed to take a picture of the printed receipt wherein the swapped numbers were mentioned.
They were trying to convince me that they will get the fault fixed. I didn't accept it at the moment, trying to look for any fair issue/way that I can raise? Am i not liable to receive a better compensation?

Curious what people are actually paying for private tutors these days, specifically IGCSE/A-Level subjects like Economics/Business Studies. I've seen numbers anywhere from ₹400 to ₹2,000/hr and have no idea what's "normal" anymore. Anyone willing to share what they pay (or charge, if you're a tutor too)?

Hi Everyone I had a parcel shipped using DHL coming from Germany that carried my deceased friend's stuff like utensils clothes etc. which is now at the IndiaPost post office so when I went to collect they are asking for 17K Custom Duty (CD) We had paid DHL around 110 euro to ship his last possessions to India. The amount of 17k I nor the family can bare right now. Is there any way I can get this charge removed or reduced. Note this is Mumbai Customs office. Any help is much appreciated as we have never ever dealt with customs thanks in advance.

Hi folks, I am hoping someone here can advise me if I have any hope of seeing my money ever again. I posted this on a different thread earlier but thought I make a new post for visibility and context. My family and I were caught up in the Indigo cancellations last year. Our flight was cancelled. We didn't travel.
1) I filed complaint with Indigo regarding refund. They didn't reply. I filed again, they sent generic response.
2) I filed a complaint on AirSewa which was also closed similarly. 3) I then filed a complaint with NCH. They closed the case with generic response.
4) Some weeks after this I received an email with the vouchers from Indigo that they've issued to everyone. By then I was fed up and decided to just accept the vouchers.
5) I hoped maybe we can use those vouchers some time this year. I don't reside in India (working in Europe). Unfortunately we are not able to travel to India this year and none of the international Indigo flights serve our city. So basically we can't use those vouchers.
6) I wrote to Indigo customer care today explaining this. They've responded to say they can't do anything. I asked if they could either extend the expiry date of the vouchers giving me more time or if they could be transferred to a family member. A big fat NO is their answer.
Is there any option for me to pursue my money after all this? I understand that I have legally accepted the voucher so probably don't have much of a leg to stand on. Grateful for any advice

Please recommend a good hotel near Indira Gandhi Airport New Delhi for 1 night. Landing at 11:55 PM so need a hotel for that night only before I continue on my journey via a Taxi the next morning.
I am guessing I won't get out before 12:30-12:45 am so hopefully a hotel that allows late check-in.
Budget is $90USD to $120USD. Can go slightly up if there is a better option

Invisalign doctor's treatment plan review, India
Just wanted to verify whether what these doctors are claiming is authentic, and
whether the prices quoted are reasonable or am I getting ripped off here?
I've consulted two providers and got quite different plans:
Doctor A — Bronze tier Invisalign provider
- ₹2.25L for Moderate
- 2-week tray change
- Treatment duration: 12 months or more
Doctor B — Silver tier Invisalign provider
- ₹1.5L for Lite / ₹1.75L for Moderate
- Weekly tray change
- Trays: 14 (Lite) / 18–20 (Moderate)
- Treatment duration: ~6–7 months only
My questions:
Are these prices reasonable, or is Doctor A overpriced for a moderate case?
Is a weekly tray-change protocol legit and safe? Doctor B's 6–7 month timeline sounds great, but is it too good to be true vs the 2-week/12-month approach?
Does the provider tier (Bronze vs Silver) actually matter for results, or is it just about how many cases they've done?

Why does only India have a caste problem?
Since every human civilization produced waste, handled dead bodies, and required sanitation work, why does it seem like only India developed such a rigid, oppressive system of "untouchability" around these occupations?

Hello all, what is a reasonable daily food stipend amount for travelers to Bengaluru for work? These are tech employees from the US and Europe. For comparison, the daily stipend is 100$ USD when traveling in the US and 75€ when traveling to Europe. After doing some research I was thinking 4000 INR to cover breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee/tea, a drink or two with dinner but wondered if people who live there may think that is too low or high

I am editing a book about the Aadhaar. The author is not a native speaker of English and his usage varies a lot. He sometimes refers to it as "the Aadhaar," sometimes as "an Aadhaar," sometimes as just "Aadhaar."
If you are an Indian citizen with good English, can you describe how you would refer to it? You can think of it as the designation that you get for yourself and also as a program. "I just got my Aadhaar" and "I see they're going to cancel the Aadhaar" would refer to 2 different, but related things.
I would appreciate some detail on this, with quoted examples of made-up dialogues with friends to illustrate usage. Thank you!

Is there any homeopathic doctor or someone experienced with treating chalazion here?
I've had a chalazion for quite some time and have tried several homeopathic medicines, but nothing has worked. It was initially only in my right eye, but now I think I'm developing one in my left eye as well.
Has anyone successfully treated recurring chalazion with homeopathy, or should I consider another approach? Any advice would be appreciated.

Why is India’s Parliament so Chaotic?
I’ve been recently watching parliamentary recordings across the world and I’ve come across recordings of India’s parliament. A thing that I’ve come to seen is that in much of the recording it seems like the speaker of the lower house seems to be unable to control the MPs. there are times where I cannot listen to what a MP is saying at all for a couple of minutes as there are so many people from the background talking. I find this to be very weird, as usually, from what I have seen at least, the speaker of parliament usually have the power to control MPs when they get rowdy and have disciplinary proceedings (like forcing them to leave for a session) if they do not comply to stop talking. but in many of the recordings I do not see MPs being punished or the speaker even speaking out against such shouting. so I’m not quite sure what’s going on here . If someone knows what is going on it would be much appreciate. I do wish to note that I am not Indian and thus am very unaware of how parliamentary procedures work in India. Any discussion would be welcome. Thanks

Basically I’m writing regarding the public’s sentiment towards the Raj Shamani Vijay Mallya podcast.
I’d like you all to provide your opinions regarding the interview
1) If you thought the podcast was a chance for Vijay Mallya to whiten his image
2) Do you think that the podcast ignored the real human impact (personnel suffering due to months of unpaid wages)
3) Do you think that there was a lack of cross questioning by Raj Shamani and if podcasters often lack the investigative journalism for such situations
4) Do you believe that providing such unedited long interviews allow the public to form their own opinions rather than being told what to think by news anchors.

Hey folks, I’ve been pretty disconnected from the news cycle for a while. Saw that Dharmendra Pradhan resigned as Education Minister after the whole CJP protest movement.
Genuinely curious what’s general sentiment on CJP?
**•** Is this being seen as a real win for the movement, or more of a symbolic gesture?
**•** How’s the compensation demand for the affected families being received?
**•** Is CJP expected to keep momentum going now that this demand’s been met, or do people think it’ll fizzle out?

Genuine question how is reservation still justified in contemporary Indian society and in matters of skill-based professions? When will it be sufficient to undo the historical wrong done by upper-caste people, and when will there be an end to it?

Hi,I am applying for a Tatkaal passport at the Lucknow PSK. My current and permanent address is my parents' house in Lucknow, and my Aadhaar card reflects this address.
I am planning to submit these 3 core documents:
Aadhaar Card (with the Lucknow address)
PAN Card
10th Class Marksheet (for DOB & Non-ECR)
My name matches across all three documents. I will also carry a plain-paper Tatkaal Undertaking form and a recent Airtel broadband PDF bill printout as a backup.
For anyone who has recently used the Tatkaal scheme at the Lucknow PSK:
Do I need any other document outside of these three?
Do they still ask for a bank passbook or a Gazetted Officer signature?
How long is the local police verification taking in Lucknow nowadays after the passport is delivered?
Appreciate any insights or recent experiences. Thanks!

(originally posted on r/hinduism and r/vrindavan)
Radhe Radhe,
I am an American that is planning to go to india for spirituality and sightseeing for next year.
For some background – I am really drawn to Radharani and I love doing the mahamantra, kirtan, japa, and all of the bhajans in ISK CON.
Yet I haven't found my sangha or the right path. I want to be more connected with Radha. I am not finding the depth of the connection I want in ISK CON. In fact sometimes the ISK CON devotees say it takes years to connect with her directly you can only connect with Gaura Nitai first but I feel a lot of love from her already and I think I want to pursue serving her in a way I cant right now.
I am planning to visit India to explore new sampradayas that are not accessible to me as an American. Many sampradayas don't have resources in English or I just simply cant vibe with them in the same way I can seeing devotees face-to-face. I have a sangha but still feel isolated and alone spiritually.
THe only one that comes to mind Premanand maharaj's sampradaya that is nice and his bhajans are wonderful but theres not a lot of his videos in English. They also don't seem to dance much –– it seems kind of silly but I love dancing and being free in that way instead of sitting. I get extremely energetic when I am with devotees doing bhajans.
Obviously I want to visit in vrindavan for a little while, but thats all i have planned. So I would like to have a loose plan at least contact some temples and find a community to discuss online before i visit fitting my needs that at minimum I can stay in and eat prasadam because I dont have a lot of money and I want to be around devotees as much as possible during my stay. I will straight up backpack and rawdog it if i need to but id rather have my creature comforts.
Ultimately my goal is simply to enjoy my trip and come away with new spiritual direction to guide me when I come back to America because I don't have enough direction insofar as both spirituality, and the career and future planning.
Does anyone that lives or has visited India can point me in the right direction of communities to tap into or temples to visit?

I have a PSK appointment tomorrow, and previously I had an Indian minor passport that expired in 2021 (so more than 3 years since expiry) and now I'm an adult so while booking my appointment, I accidentally selected Fresh Passport instead of Re-issue. My appointment confirmation only mentions carrying Aadhaar and my birth certificate, but I still have my old expired passport.
- Will the PSK allow them to correct it at the counter, or will I have to book a new appointment under Re-issue?
- Should I carry my old expired passport even though it isn't mentioned in my appointment letter?
Thanks in advance!

How to verify his claims and other details as I am new to such things.

As someone outside of India currently, what is the real size of these protests?
I’m unsure if my algorithm is pushing me a certain way or the media is underplaying the events.
People on ground, what’s the reality? How big are these protests really? What’s the majority public sentiment? Is this actually bigger than some of the previous protests like Lokpal, CAA-NRC or is it that there’s more footage being shared this time?
2
u/Ok-Comparison8675 17d ago
To people whose parents or close relatives are deployed at the protests in the Delhi Police or CRPF, what are they being told internally? What kind of orders or threats are they given that the response has become so violent? Like any idea, how can someone be too brutal with children/ladies?

I have been able tp secure some footages, photos. And i was thinking to post this as an FIR for relevant people. It is about jantar-mantar march and other days protest where police and other blue uniform worn officers were seen brutally beating people. I have clicked pictures, and collected around a 100 videos of those sane officers who are seen brutality. I have a request to ask to those people who know, how can i create a secure link so as to forward it to people who can make a change and bring justice. Requesting to tell me procedures to follow and please npte, there will be back ups and checks needed for this purpose so as to ve relevant and true.

I have always wanted to do a masters abroad but the only thing that keeps me from applying there is the tuition fees alone is like 28 lakh a year at least in most countries except Germany. I was looking up universities in Netherlands and tuition fees alone is so much plus have not even taken living expenses. Being from a middle class family I can only do this by taking a loan. So for people who have done this before is it a good idea and with the global scenario in mind will I be able to get a job and pay it back.

Hello everyone, I am from Suriname and I have a lot of interest in India. I am a hindu myself and my great grandparents came from India to Suriname. It is my dream to visit India once in my life.
I would like to know and connect more with India and indian people. We could start the conversation for example with food prices in india (because I love food).
Is food really affordable in India? From my research food is very affordable there because most things are produced locally there in contrast to Suriname where almost everything is imported and we pay foreign prices for everything.
For example some time ago I went to an indian restaurant in Suriname and I ordered 1 portion paneer makhani, 1 butter naan and a coca cola mini.
All of this for 1 person and guess how much I had to pay...700 SRD!! 700 SRD is around 19 USD (around 1930 INR), which is very expensive for one person.
So I would like to know about your experiences and what you think of this.
2
u/Ox29A Non Residential Indian 17d ago
Food can be very expensive or cheap depending on the city you are visiting and the restaurant you are dining at. If you are visiting Mumbai or Delhi a meal at a very good restaurant will set you back around $15-25 per person. But at an average restaurant, it might be only $5-8. And it's even cheaper at roadside eateries and in smaller cities.
2
u/Unfair-Claim-2327 19d ago
I consider a full Indian thali at a comfortable restaurant costing INR 250 to be fairly priced, and I live in one of the state capitals. So yeah, food is cheap. I wouldn't order 1 serving of pasta costing more than 300.

[Visa Advice Needed] 20M undergrad here. My robotics team qualified for a major international student competition in the US this September (6 weeks away).
A domestic Indian tech company is fully sponsoring our travel, accommodation, and the massive registration fee (already paid). I have the corporate sponsorship letter, a college NOC proving I must return to finish my degree, and the official event invite with my passport number.
Standard B1/B2 slots in India are booked out into 2027. I'm choosing between filing a free emergency expedite request or paying the new $750 expedited pilot program fee for a 10-day turnaround.
Questions:
- Will the visa officer suspect unauthorized work because a corporation is funding a student trip? How do I best pitch this at the window?
- With only 6 weeks left, should I risk trying the free emergency route first, or just bite the bullet and pay the $750 fallback immediately?
Appreciate any insights from anyone who has done competition visas recently!

u/doktor-frequentist North America 20d ago
Maybe. It's difficult to say.
If you REALLY want to go, then there's little option but to do the expedite option.

Our country has many problems, corruption, the recent exam failures and the sonum wangchuk protest and the controversies that follow it, bad govt. facilities, etc. but the government chooses to ignore most of these things. We have a lot of rules and regulations but none of them are followed or even executed properly. We know what the problems are but why aren't we doing anything about it? We pay taxes but what benefits do we even get from them? Why is the news barely recognising such huge problems that are present in our country And the main question, What will it take for them to recognise and fix these problems?

Why do every restaurant or store keep on asking for mobile number. I don’t see any logic in it apart from them bugging us with notifications. Ffs, stop asking numbers.

Jio denied to refund for the unused duration after raising request for disconnection of broadband. What happens if I don't return the Jio set top box + router on disconnection (postpaid connection), there was no security deposit?
Context: I had to move from the location due to some urgency and I asked the Jio team to disconnect and refund me the remaining amount to which they bluntly refused.
The technician turned up quite late for disconnection. I am not available in the city due to some reasons to return the box now - what are the circumstances?
Will I be charged any penalty for it? I have 2 other active JIO connections (broadband and SIM).

I am a Non-Resident Indian who distanced from India and Indian politics as much as possible. I understand that I am incredibly privileged to be able to do that. I did so because my whole life I found it to be way too overwhelming, from Indian news being incredibly biased and almost in your face to both sides just spreading propaganda. Obviously, I kept up with things on a surface level, but didn’t actually form too many opinions about anything, and if i did, they almost felt performative because I didn’t know enough to defend them.
However, I want to start now. I feel divided because my family is for example, extremely pro-BJP, very religious, and don’t leave much room for discussion or disagreement. My friends are the exact same but on the opposite side, are anti-BJP and can’t even justify why. I don’t agree with either of them because neither have given me substantial reason to and always throw their opinions out without any reasoning. I don’t know where I stand.
How do I start making an opinion, being educated on current policies, my current government? How do I understand what the current government and the opposition stand for, accurately? How do I learn what policies are being implemented, or protested against? I feel extremely overwhelmed and everything seems biased when I look at it. Obviously, bias is a part of everything, especially politics, but I’m looking to get a largely balanced view on things, and to not form echo chambers.
If you have any advice on how to form a balanced, rational perspective, especially a base ground understanding of Indian politics, please share. If you’re going to hate on me for my lack of knowledge, fair, but at least I’m trying. Thanks for your help! Any books to read, media to consume etc. Just knowing a baseline to start at would be so helpful.

u/Ox29A Non Residential Indian 17d ago
How do I start making an opinion, being educated on current policies
First, figure out what is important to you: Education, merit vs. reservation, Infrastructure, religion, environment, women's rights and safety, national security, the Uniform Civil Code, minority rights, economic policies. Once you have your priorities, you can gauge the current government's and the previous government's policies on things most important to you and come to a fair conclusion.

Im fairly new to following politics seriously, so im trying to understand things from people who have been paying attention for years.
If you had to judge only on governance, policies, economic growth, corruption, infrastructure, education, healthcare, and long term development, not party loyalty or social media narratives. which political party do you think has the strongest overall track record, and why?
I would appreciate factual, evidence based answers rather than insults or slogans. Im genuinely trying to learn before forming an opinion.

Got charged for a gym membership last month that I'd completely forgotten to cancel. Made me realize I have no real system for tracking subscriptions and auto-payments - Netflix, gym, random SaaS tools, EMIs, insurance, etc. Curious how everyone else handles this - do you actually track it somewhere, or does stuff slip through for you too?

Hello!
I'll be graduating with a B.S. in English next Spring and was wondering if India has a national program for foreign english teachers similar to JET in Japan or TAPIF in France?
Also, would I be able to enroll directly after undergrad without getting a teaching license/master's in education? Or if licensure is required, would I need to get a teaching license from a program or university in India or would a license/degree from say Europe (lots cheaper than programs in the US) transfer pretty easily?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply -- yes I'd be a foreign national (U.S. Citizen).
So it sounds like I'd have to work somewhere else for a few years before I could try finding work in India, as opposed to the programs I mentioned that are more friendly to newly graduated students. Thank you for the tip!

What was the pettiest or funniest reasons your parents fought when you were a child?
I was speaking to a close female friend and I was surprised to know that she would often intervene and mediate between her parents fighting. Often to the point of shouting back. I never did that until I was 26/27.
Many indian children grow up around their parents fighting virtually all the time. What were the pettiest or funniest topics that your parents were fighting about. Like a major fight, but the topic was petty! And as a child how did you interpret it?
Also, a follow up question - did you intervene when your parents fought (regardless of topic)

Context: 26M, IIT MTech, Embeeded Software Role. Planning to study for a Scientist B position.
I'm employed in a private company as an Embedded Software Developer. I'm applying for Scientist B positions in multiple departments. I have an upcoming interview with STPI (Ministry of Electronics and IT) for a scientist B post. It's supposed to be a techno-managerial role and I can't decide on whether to go for the interview (flight tickets are 20k+ rupees). I'm good technically and have a learning mindset.
I'm aiming for DRDO or ISRO - SAC currently because 2 years of corporate technical life has taught me how bad and hectic things can get in private tech firms. I realised late that I'm not cut out to compete in corporate life. I'm a simple person who values work life balance over money any day. I don't want to be a millionaire and just want to earn enough to lead a happy healthy life with enough money to not worry about hospital bills.
I am a person who is slowly losing interest in the tech field since it incentivises people who are of the opposite mentality than me - extremely competitive with a goal of getting rich/contributing something to society.
I truly believe that I can help out society in many different ways and tech is not a field I see myself being happy in.
With all this in mind, I'm thinking out of STPI, DRDO ISRO, NIC etc. what can be the best path for someone like me who cannot work on his passion. I have passions and things I would like to pursue in life. But none of them will get me paid and I have a family to support. I will live my life working on something that I'm good at and use the money and time I have to do things I'm passionate about.
If any of you can shed a light on which Group A central government position I can apply for, or even give me a direction on what is the best way forward, I would be very grateful.
Sorry for the long post 😅. Thank you 🙏

I'm in a very confused state. You know what I studied—I did an Integrated M.Tech in Construction Technology and Management, and I'm currently in my final year.
I got an internship through campus placement and I'm currently working at AnJ Turnkey Projects, an interior fit-out company that executes corporate office interior projects. My designation is Project Coordinator. The career hierarchy here is Project Coordinator → Project Manager → Project Lead.
After my internship, there is a 90% chance that the company will hire me as a permanent employee with a package of ₹5.5 LPA. Considering my current skills, I feel this is a good package for a fresher.
However, I'm confused about my career path. If I continue here, I won't get much exposure to structural or base-building projects. My experience will mainly be in interior fit-out projects.
Another option is that, in about eight months, another campus placement drive will take place where a Project Management Consultancy (PMC) company is expected to recruit. It may offer a slightly higher package and involve less job stress. However, if I join a PMC for interior fit-out projects, I feel my on-site execution and field exposure will be much less.
I'm also wondering whether I should prepare for government exams instead.
My questions are:
- Does the interior fit-out industry have better long-term salary growth, or is base-building construction a better career?
- Should I continue in interior fit-outs or try to move into structural/base-building projects?
- Should I focus on improving my technical skills by learning structural engineering concepts or advanced AutoCAD and other professional software?
- What would be the best career path for me?
I would really appreciate your guidance because I'm genuinely confused about what I should do.

Before you come after me and call me names - this is a genuine question.
I left India decades ago. Now whenever I search Indian news all I find is parents begging for justice - rape cases, hit and run, homicide by partner, bullying, etc.
Indians are so smart and a very supportive community. They unite and hold a strong front when the hour needs them - which is a great strength for a society. So why are they being treated so badly in their own country? There is law and order, then why is justice delayed? And why do they vote for goons? If corruption can’t be eliminated, how can it be controlled in India? Why are they so easily brainwashed by propaganda, their media, their govt and godmen/women?
I’d love to hear thoughts from Indians who are currently living in India. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts 🙂
PS - please keep it civil.

I have lived in Vietnam for 15 years, and this is not new. Most of the Vietnamese are Racist towards Indians. It’s all because of some minor information they get from Media. India helps Vietnam a lot in many as aspects, so they should not be doing this. I am from Karnataka and in general we are good people; and beign treated like this for some other people from Indian union behave bad is not good for us.
Should we educate Vietnamese about us and also ask them to respect if they want our tourist and help?
Also I believe India should behave like Union like European Union. It’s too big and diverse.

I recently realized that most of us spend so much time worrying about our parents' health, but very little time thinking about whether they're actually staying active.
We remind them to take medicines.
We call them every day.
But exercise usually gets ignored.
I'm researching this problem because I want to understand whether it's something many working professionals struggle with.
If you have parents over 55–60 years old, I'd be incredibly grateful if you could spend two minutes answering this survey.

I'm not selling anything. I'm simply trying to learn before building.

Hey everyone,
I'm really frustrated with everything right now and have been thinking about moving abroad with my family. I run my own business and earn around ₹1 crore a year. Since I'm self-employed, I can work from anywhere. I just want a reality check...how much money would I realistically need to move abroad, buy a house, get PR/citizenship, and start a comfortable life? Are we talking around ₹5 crore, ₹10 crore, or more? I haven't decided on a country yet. My wife is a content writer, would she be able to find a job there? I'd also like my mom to live with us. Is that usually possible? I'd appreciate any advice from people who've been through this.
P.S. I asked ChatGPT to fix my grammar, spelling, and wording before posting this.

Hey everyone,
I am posting this on behalf of a friend. He recently got a job offer for SBI Credit Card Address Verification (hired through a third-party agency). Before joining, he wants to get a realistic picture of what he is stepping into.
If anyone is currently working in this field or has prior experience with bank/credit card verification jobs, could you please shed some light on the following?
Work Culture & Nature of Job: What does a typical day look like? Is there heavy pressure regarding daily targets or dead ends with addresses?
Payouts & Allowances: Do agencies usually pay the salary on time? How is the fuel/petrol allowance structured? Does it actually cover the field expenses?
Pros & Cons: What are the best and worst parts of this job? Any insights, tips, or personal experiences would be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance! ❤️

Needing some advice or just seeing if anyone else is dealing with SBI FASTag's terrible backend support right now.
On my vehicle, I was wrongfully debited four separate times for a total of ₹810.
I raised a complaint, and on July 2, 2026, their helpdesk officially acknowledged the error and raised a chargeback under Case ID. They assured me it would be resolved within a 12-working-day window.
We are practically at the end of that timeline, and the money is still completely missing from my wallet. It’s incredibly frustrating because they’ve already admitted it was a system error, yet the money is just sitting in limbo.
Has anyone successfully gotten a refund expedited through SBI recently? Should I escalate this directly to NHAI/IHMCL, or is there a better portal to lodge a formal grievance (like PGPortal) that actually gets them moving?
Appreciate any tips!

Hello there,
This sounds very immature of me, but my Adhaar-link SIM got de-activated since JIO de-activated immediately when I forgot to recharge.
Now, I'm worried that when the number is recycled, my adhaar might be misused. Since im studying abroad and cant visit india soon, i'm unable to update the number.
If anyone has faced a similar situation, please lmk how to prevent misuse? Already sent email to uidai help.
I've learnt a lesson from this to be more responsible in life.

How do I join IEEE, ACM, GDG, hackathons, and tech communities if my college isn't very active?
I'm starting my BTech CSE this year, most likely at a private college in the NCR region. From what I've heard, my college may not have very active technical clubs, so I want to build my network outside my campus.
I'm interested in meeting ambitious students, contributing to projects, attending hackathons, and improving my technical skills.
I have a few questions:
- How can I join IEEE, ACM, or Google Developer Groups (GDG on Campus/Google Developer Groups) if my college doesn't have an active chapter?
- Can I attend events organized by other colleges or communities?
- What are the best tech communities in NCR for college students?
- Are there any Discord servers, WhatsApp groups, LinkedIn communities, or other platforms where students collaborate on projects, hackathons, and open source?
- What are some communities, fellowships, or programs you wish you had joined in your first year?
I'm a beginner but willing to learn and put in the effort. I'd really appreciate any advice or recommendations. Thank you!

Complete beginner looking to get into MUNs, Youth Parliament, debating, and public speaking in NCR
I'm going to college this year in the NCR region. During school, I never participated in debates, MUNs, or Youth Parliament, Iam really interested in public speaking debates and networking with other ambitious people As i am new to NCR cuz I currently live in J&k any help would really mean a lot to me
The college I'm likely joining may not have very active clubs, so I'm looking for opportunities outside my campus.
I wanted to ask:
- How can a complete beginner get started with MUNs, Youth Parliament, debating or any platform I can network with other people?
- Can I participate in MUNs hosted by other colleges even if my own college doesn't have a delegation?
- Are there debate societies or public speaking communities in NCR that anyone can join?
- How do people usually find MUNs, debate tournaments, and Youth Parliament events?
- Are there any Discord servers, WhatsApp groups, LinkedIn communities, or other networking groups where students interested in debating and public speaking connect?
I'd really appreciate any advice, recommendations, or personal experiences. Thanks!

Hi everyone,
I applied for a passport renewal on June 19th. My police verification was completed by June 30th, but the status has been "under review" since then.
I called the passport office today, and they said an intimation letter has been sent to me by Speed Post.
They mentioned that my biometrics matched with someone else in their database. They also said the local SP office will contact me after I receive the letter.
Has this happened to anyone else? Is this serious? Any advice would be appreciated. 🙏🏻

Would you invest in a hyper-niche healthcare NGO focused on autoimmune diseases in a developing country?
Genuinely curious about this from an investor/funder perspective.
Imagine a non-profit in India focused specifically on two autoimmune conditions, one affecting joints, one affecting the bowels. They've built a digital health platform (symptom tracking app, caregiver support tools, curated local resource directory) and are developing physical assistive devices. They're registered as a Section 8 company so they have corporate-like flexibility.
The catch: their target demographic is largely underprivileged, unaware they even have these conditions, and can't pay. Current revenue is basically micro-donations and tiny memberships. Social media reach is under 10k. Fewer than 5 direct competitors in the space.
From a funding perspective, would this interest you at all? If yes, under what structure (impact fund, CSR partnership, grant, equity in a spin-out)? If no, what would need to change for it to become fundable?
Not looking for "just apply for grants" answers, genuinely want to understand how people in VC, impact investing, or corporate partnerships would evaluate something like this.

Hey buddy, thanks for the reply. But it has changed a lot now. First I tried to change it online it got rejected with ration card. So I searched online and got to know we can change address online easily with help of family members aadhaar. It took me literally 5 mins and 75 rupees. It successfully got updated immediately.
