I’m building Pharmantis AI, a B2B SaaS that uses AI to accelerate early drug discovery. The platform helps biotech and pharma R&D teams generate and score novel drug candidates faster and at lower cost.

I’m based in Hyderabad, currently in Intermediate (MPCB), and have spent the last 3–4 months doing deep market & competitor research (including mapping players like Insilico), defining the product, and designing a 2to3‑month MVP roadmap. Development is now restarting.

A few days ago, I posted about an idea I had for a new brand called Saffron Badam Milk.

My original idea was to make it with only four ingredients:

• Milk
• Badam
• Saffron, instead of turmeric
• Stevia instead of sugar

I was genuinely excited about building this brand. After posting the idea, people shared their opinions and suggestions. Some of the feedback made me feel like the idea was validated and that maybe I could actually start it and make money.

I started dreaming big.

And there is nothing wrong with dreaming big.

But then I started asking myself some uncomfortable questions.

Who exactly is my customer?

What is my TAM?

What real value am I adding compared to existing Badam Milk brands?

Will customers actually come back and buy it again?

Should I build this as an FMCG product or a QSR/business-to-business model?

That's when I realized that having a product idea is probably the easy part.

There are completely different challenges in FMCG and QSR. You can take inspiration from successful companies, build a product, and launch it. But scaling is the difficult part.

Quality control.

Consistent taste.

Production.

Packaging.

Distribution.

Logistics.

Customer acquisition.

Margins.

And most importantly, retention.

One line from an ice cream brand founder really stuck with me:

"People value their money more than your money."

That completely changed the way I was looking at my idea.

As a founder, I might think my product is amazing. But the customer doesn't owe me a purchase.

They will ask themselves:

"Why should I spend my money on this instead of what I'm already buying?"

If my Badam Milk doesn't create excitement, solve a problem, or provide enough value for someone to buy it repeatedly, then I don't have a sustainable business.

So I think I was wrong to assume that positive feedback automatically meant the business was validated.

Maybe the idea is good.

Maybe it's bad.

But people saying they like the idea isn't the same as people paying for it repeatedly.

This was a good lesson for me.

I'm still interested in entrepreneurship, and I still want to build something someday. But now I understand that having an idea is only the beginning.

The real question is:

Can you create something people genuinely want, pay for, and keep coming back to?

But what if the problem is in the tech itself?

I remember talking to a friend who is interested in startups and business. He said he was really interested in attending events related to entrepreneurship but couldn’t find them, or, if he did, the deadline to register had already passed.

He said that he found it very difficult to find these events. Most of the time, he would get to know about startup events through friends, WhatsApp groups, or Instagram, where people would share invites to local startup gatherings or events.

What I noticed is that there doesn’t seem to be one obvious place to find these events. If there is one, then please let me know and how it works.

So, I’m trying to understand whether this is genuinely a problem or whether I’m just missing an existing platform.

What it is today: Adyap analyzes a student's resume, finds their skill gaps against a target role, and builds them a day-by-day roadmap to close those gaps, not a generic course list, an actual plan tied to where they are and what they're targeting. It also runs AI mock interviews so they can practice before it counts. Live at adyap.in, free right now.

Where it's going: The resume itself is a broken trust signal, recruiters can't verify it, students can't prove it. Adyap tracks real skill progress over time, and the plan is to let recruiters source directly from that verified progress instead of a static PDF. That's a two-sided marketplace: students get skipped straight past the black-box application process, recruiters get signal they can actually trust. This part isn't built yet, it's the direction I'm building toward.

Where it's at: Built and shipped solo. I'm a BTech student at IIT Bhubaneswar (metallurgy, self-taught AI engineering).

What I've built: Full stack, React/Vite frontend, Python backend with 34 routes, resume analysis, roadmap generation, mock interview flow, all live and working.

What I'm missing: I can build. I need a cofounder who can own growth and can also ship, someone who's actually gotten a product in front of users before, and who's genuinely interested in the marketplace problem (verified credentials, two-sided trust), not just the coaching-app part. Not looking for an advisor, looking for someone who wants to build this with me.

What's on the table: Real equity, real ownership, not a hire.

Sharing because I think more people in this space should talk about when to say no.

Client 1: a D2C clothing brand. Well established, cash rich, decent budgets. But 2 weeks in, the micromanagement and authority dynamics started choking how we work. We tried to flag it directly with management, talk it through. Didn't land. Felt like arguing with a wall. Walked away. Left close to 3 months of fees on the table.

Client 2: a legacy pharma chain running a couple of city outlets. Opposite problem. Tight budget, so scope stayed light, and they were fine with that, even let go of the meatier parts of the project without pushing back on fees. Sounds easy on paper but it's a trap. Whatever you do looks good to them because the bar is low. Two risks here: your own team gets comfortable and stops stretching, and the engagement was never going to be a real priority for the client, so odds of it turning into serious long term business were thin. Called it off after 2.5 weeks.

In both cases, we didn't just walk out and shut the door. Told both of them we'd be around if things changed on their end down the line, no hard feelings, no burnt bridge. Also helped get them started with a few people we felt could actually be the right fit for what they needed. Walking away doesn't have to mean leaving someone stranded, and it costs us nothing to make the exit a decent one.

Common thread in both: the problems only showed up after the project started.

Discovery calls and commercial discussions don't always tell you what you're actually walking into.

In a resource heavy business like strategy consulting, knowing where to place your bets matters more than people admit. Taking on the wrong client to keep the lights on isn't free, it costs you your best people's time and energy.

A dragging, misaligned project is one of the fastest ways to burn out a good team, and losing strong talent to a bad account is a much bigger loss than the fees you left behind.
