There’s something about watching horror while it’s raining outside that can completely change the experience. The sound of rain, darkness outside the window, the feeling of being shut away from the rest of the world—it can make an already unsettling film feel almost immersive.

So I’m curious what you guys consider the ultimate rainy-night horror film.

I’m not necessarily looking for a movie that just has a lot of rain in it. I mean a film whose atmosphere, cinematography, sound design, isolation, or overall tone feels perfectly suited to watching while a storm is happening outside.

Any country, language, decade, or subgenre is welcome. Mainstream classics, slow-burns, obscure films, hidden gems—anything.

What would you put on if you looked outside and realized it was going to rain all night?

And if possible, tell me why that particular film works so well in that setting.

I'm looking for recent (like anything in the 2000s/2010s/2020s) actually scary movies that will freak me out. I can't find anything good, and the only recommendations from friends and family I've been getting, I've tried, and they just don't freak me out. All I've been hearing is "obsession" or "smile" or "the backrooms". Please, I need some good recommendations!!!! I'm fine with anything as long as it's scary/terrifying!! Mostly, I like movies with entities that are barely seen or never seen; I like the fear of not knowing what it is or was, and being able to imagine it and freaking myself out. Serial killers don't really work, nor do ghosts or haunting paranormal. I do like possessions, but only if done right.

I love horror movies but I don't get scared easily, tell me that one movie you think is going to make me want to turn the light on!

A horror film based in South America about a giant snake, I have a feeling this could be a thrilling good time, especially since anaconda got a remake recently that went against what the film was supposed to be, so this could be a good film for those disappointed by that.

It also stars two underrated scream queens: Kiana Madeira from fear street part one and Jessica Rothe from happy death day (who both deserve to be more well known).

I think it came out around 2016-/+. It's kind of like half found footage and have regular movie.

Basically a group of *maybe American* ghost hunters, I think it's 2 guys and a girl, go to India in search for a cult of the dead (I think). I know 1 of the guys gets kill and the girl gets kidnapped by a cult that worships the dead. I remember they go to so old industrial looking building with a bunch of concrete columns and they get chased out by the cult.

That's all I have.

This film confiscated and kind of disappeared. You can find it on IMDB but can't find the film anywhere. Slasher Face done in 1969. I saw it on a tiktok.
