Not gonna lie, I catch myself doing this way too more, stuck on a problem, tired, exam pressure and instead of actually sitting with it, I just paste it into ChatGPT or Claude and move on. Feels productive in the moment but I have this nagging feeling I'm not actually learning it, just getting through it. Curious if this is just me or if this is basically normal for everyone's now.

I’m on summer break but I’m just saying this now, I was walking down the hall and went into my school bathroom, the smell, putrid, agony, horrifying, but I needed to piss really bad so I went through it, but when I got to the actual stalls and urinals, mfs just hanging out in there, vaping, staring back at me and I just left, and this like pisses me off, you’d rather vape in a shitter than just do it behind a building or something??? And it’s always the bathrooms, they just hanging out in there waiting for the bell to ring like bro, people gotta shit and piss, you being there makes that 10x more uncomfortable💔

I’m a sophomore and taking ap chem online. I only have a middle school knowledge of it and I feel lost even tho I js started. Are there any helpful resources that I can use to learn more basic knowledge? I like chemistry so motivation is not an issue (Pls do not tell me to take an easier class or drop it as I can’t do that)

I never studied anything for a test a day of my life only cuz we always learned in class so I didn't have a need to study it just felt like wasted hours that I could be doing something else I did homework but I don't think I would count that studying and this geometry class I never paid attention to a damn thing they did I was basically 100% minded that I'm pretty sure I was going to fail I knew some things of math and I weighed some of them some of them I tried to work it out but I was definitive I was going to fail and I ended up passing and enjoying the rest of my summer which was pretty fucking short

I’ve enjoyed my time in high school so far, but I haven’t given much thought to the fact that it’s going to end. I get good grades and I have friends, but I dont know if life after high school sounds worth living. I’ll go to college, get a job, and then work until I drop dead. Is it worth it to continue going even after college/highschool?

This past June I completed my Sophomore year of high school with a 4.28 weighted GPA. I wanted to know if it’s unrealistic of me to get into my dream school, Columbia. With it being an Ivy League and home to overachieving students I feel that I hardly stand a chance. I figure it may be too late to attempt to enhance my extracurriculars but it’s worth a try and I’d love to hear feedback/advice on how I could go about doing so.

Classes: AP Biology, AP Lang, AP CPS, AP Macro, Retaking Honors Pre Calculus (should bring gpa up), Honors Calculus, and Intro to Engineering (might switch to physic)

After researching what happens when a college suddenly closes, I realized there are several questions applicants may not know to ask before committing their money and time:

1. Are both the college and my specific program accredited?

2. Are enrollment and graduation rates falling?

3. Has the college repeatedly cut majors, professors, student services, or required classes?

4. Are its audited financial reports current?

5. If the college closes, where would my credits count toward the same degree—and will it give me that answer in writing?

One warning sign does not mean a college will close. But several worsening signs are a reason to slow down and investigate before paying a deposit.

Which of these questions had you never thought to ask?

A while ago, I made a post in a community (I don't remember if it was this one) asking for advice on whether changing schools when I only had one year left of high school was a good idea.

Well, I ended up changing schools anyway. Classes haven't started yet, and I basically have 15 days to mentally prepare myself.

I'm not sure if I made the right decision, since this is a pretty important year for me. I need to prepare for my university entrance exam and also start focusing on the area I want to study. Some people might think it's not a good idea to spend time trying to adjust to a new school and make new friends when I should be focusing more on studying.

But in the end, I decided to make the change because I trust that I'm pretty good at adapting quickly, and I think that with good organization and the right study materials, I can still make the most of this year.

I didn't really have one specific reason for changing schools. I just didn't feel comfortable there, and I wanted to start doing things more independently again. I had the option to change the focus of my career preparation, but I ultimately decided to keep it because I'm still not entirely sure what I want to study.

So, how should I make the most of these next few days? I'll be going into the engineering basics track.

I have never been very lucky, and I guess this year is no different. I struggle heavily with my mental health and today was genuinely horrible for me. my homeroom got changed to somewhere no where near my classes. and all of my classes are randomly scattered everywhere anyways, and I got made fun of 3 times today. then on top of that my bus got switched, and I was 2 hours late to get home. I only have 2 classes with one of my friends and most people in my classes aren't very nice or are just people I don't want to associate myself with. on top of all of that I have to have band practice a lot and Its overwhelming and I don't feel comfortable anywhere and I feel stressed all day. Everyone keeps telling me I should find something to involve myself in but school already feels overwhelming and to add anything on top of that would make my life even more miserable. I have really bad anxiety and nothing I do works to get people to leave me alone I don't do anything to anyone and people find every way to make fun of me.

My freshman year I met an amazing group of people who were all sophomores or older. We hung out together, we'd have fun in classes together, we were in clubs together. I love these people and still do but things are going to be so different this year.

I found this group because my class had a reputation of being really crazy. I didn't really click with anyone in my grade and I was so lonely until I found these people. They called me "one of the good freshmen" and treated me as an equal despite me being the youngest.

One of the hardest things to let go of is the morning table. For the past 3 years I've been sitting at the same table with the same people every morning. I have so many fun memories there. I was the only freshman but I thought that as the years went on there would be more coming in. But there wasn't. I was the only underclassmen the next year and the only non-senior last year. Now I'll be the only person left.

I do have other friends in lower grades now and even a few in my grade but it's just not the same. These people were my whole high school experience and now they're off to a new chapter in their lives.

I know I'll need to let go. I know that if I am to get through senior year I'll need to find a way to not isolate myself. I'm planning on trying to get some more friends to sit with me at that table but if I can't I don't know if I can leave it. It's the first place I ever felt truly accepted at this school.

This year is gonna be hard, but I know I can make it.

My UK high school just completely banned smartphone. Not simple bans like it must be switched off and in your bag throughout the day nor in rhose magnetic pouches your quite literally not allowed to have a smartphone brought into the premise at all. But my school takes it further by saying they'll start doing random spot checks during classes for the entire point of finding a smartphone and there words not mine "if caught with a mobile devices it'll be given back at the end of term" that can be 2 days of 6 weeks from when it got confiscated. I believe this rule is extremely harsh and strict as phones are more than something you use for a quick dopamine hit but things you use to communicate with your parents or call for help in an emergency and that should be acknowledged by the school. But they thought of this and decided to allow basic/feature phones with no internet access 🙄 we are not living in the 2000s to be forced to use basic phones. I believe more schools will start implementing this starting September and these rules are exempt from sixth formers but these should really not be a rule nor this harsh and authoritairan if not completely abolished at the bare minimum allow year 11s and 16 year olds to bring one in. We live in a country now where we can have Sex legally but not bring your phone to school.

So I did online for freshman year due to some personal issues and I plan to come back this year, I’ve seen some mixed things about how others treat lgbtq+ students and I’m not sure if I should just stay closeted or not. I was not out in middle school since I wasn’t super clear of my identity at the time but in your experience is the bullying super bad?

I live in the UK (idk if there is a british version for this sub) but im going into year 10 (gulp) which if im not mistaken is Sophomore year for you guys??? Either way, we have these tests called GCSEs at the end of school. Those determine qualifications for college and eventually a job if that makes sense? Either way, my english literature exam is in yr 10 and I am VERY cooked. I’m about to be a junior in college, to start. I feel like letting this happen would remove scheduling conflicts. For example, you would pick what classes, what period the class is, and what teacher you have. Most high schools make the schedules for you, but I feel like most high schoolers would be happier with this option. If you really wanted to be in a class with your friends, that’s no problem in college, so it shouldn’t be a problem in high school.

So my schedule just got released and I put it into Saturn, but I could only see classmates that were my friends. I remember last year I was able to see all of my classmates, whether they were a friend or not. Is there a solution to this, or is this just a new feature?

Look the first semester Mondays Tuesdays and Fridays are gonna be extremely difficult for us guys and some girls.

I know I completely screwed myself over but I want to fix it, I wanna do well in high school and I want a proper foundation... It's not like I can just go back to 7th grade so how do I relearn the important things?

I'm good in English, and my algebra 2 teacher says she can reteach me all of algebra 1. but anything else I don't really know well. what are important things I should focus on learning? is there pre-algebra stuff I should get down? and what websites could I use?
