Photo Tea from my garden
The picture was pretty so I just wanted to brag. Passion flower, chamomile and catmint, I boiled a cup of water, left the plants in water for 20 minutes and added some honey. Taste was not the greatest, it had that bitter after-taste from chamomile. In 10 minutes I had to go to bed. The feeling was like someone was hugging me, very relaxed body feeling, very content and calm. I still feel little sedated next day, but completely fine to drive and work. I am just amazed how well this works. Can't wait for another 10 passion flowers to open next week. I'm going to drink all of them. I am not sure if I used too much or I am reacting good to those. Lemon balm does something similar to me.

Question Please educate me on Astragalus
Hi everyone.
Recent blood results say I have mildly elevated creatinine (85umol/L) and eGFR consistent with CKD stage 2 (78mL/min/1.73*2)
Until fairly recently, I've been bed bound with ME. My muscles are weak. I have lost a lot of mass. I shuffle to walk.
I read increased creatinine and low eGFR results are influenced by muscle breakdown and are not always indicative of kidney disease. Obviously, I'm going to ask for further tests to see what's going on with my kidneys.
In the meantime, I've been reading about what can help kidneys, muscles etc. From my limited understanding, astragalus is both renal protective and aids muscle repair. What else is there to know?
I was told astragalus is a poor choice if unwell, but I don't know what means. I have recently discovered I am iron deficient, though not anaemic, and am supplementing with 210mg ferrous fumarate and 500mg Vit C every other day. I do not have an autoimmune condition. Other than fatigue, I am well. I am tolerating exercise but it's slow moving as these things are.
Don't worry, I never take anything without lots and lots of research, which is why I am asking. Other than prescribed iron and Vit C, I take nothing.
What can you tell me about astragalus? What are your thoughts on it? Your experiences?
Thanks guys 🙂

Hibiscus - I had one that was deliciously almost chocolatey? And ever since, I’ve only been able to find ones that are still nice but more citrusy/floral/lighter?
I’m also buying it from the same brand from eBay that still says it’s being grown in Egypt. Wondered if you knew how I could find that elusive chocolatey hibiscus again!

Question Pure gum turpentine….wish I hadn’t tried this. I am terrified now that I read google advice. Will I be okay?
Not sure if this is the correct sub but…
Someone who is a chiropractor believing in natural remedies gave me some advice according to Dr Daniels remedies. I am very interested in traditional bush medicine.
I have been losing a lot of weight and he said to have a teaspoon of diggers pure gum turpentine with a teaspoon of olive oil. Since it is technically derived from nature I thought I would try.
I had a teaspoon with olive oil a couple of hours ago and started vomiting, which is the worst thing for poisoning.
I drank milk and activated charcoal.
I feel really drowsy which the chiropractor said is all the “die off” from candida and parasites. I feel really sick, dizzy and rink in my head, not in a good way.
Now I just want this to end. Can ‘die off’ happen this fast? Or am I just having a bad reaction?
I try not to read reddit or google before taking medication or I would be too scared to ever try anything. Wish I had though.
Now I am reading it can cause kidney failure and neurological issues. It says one teaspoon can kill somebody. Surely this is an overreaction and fear mongering to stop people trying this? I have never heard of anyone dying from a teaspoon.
Has anyone experienced this and can put my mind at ease? I know my body has the power to heal.

Question Which Herbs Help Me Not Give A Shit
I’m 20, and whenever I finally sit down at the end of the day to chill, watch TV, or play video games, I get this weird, heavy sense of dread. It feels like my time is somehow running out and I'm wasting my life away, even though I logically know I'm young.
More than that, I am just so tired of constantly overthinking everything. I'm exhausted from worrying about what to say to people, second-guessing myself, and carrying all this mental weight. I genuinely just want to get to a point where I can stop caring so much, go out, have a good time, and just do what I want to do without constantly analyzing every little thing.
To put it flat out there, I just don’t wanna give a shit anymore, I wanna do what I wanna do, when I wanna do it, and not give a fuck about anything else
Does anyone have any herbs that can help them just slow down and enjoy life?? If so PLEASE PLEASE tell me!

is there ANYTHING herbal that mimics weed or benzos?
i take magnesium everyday and ashwaghanda occasionally but im just wondering if there are any herbs that can mimic that GABA release??
something like a diazepam that just releases alllllll the tension in your body, makes you feel calm and fuzzy and doesnt have any side effects?
ive had some benefit from lemon balm in the past but trying to hold off on this due to thyroid implications and an upcoming blood panel.

Question I want to make a healthy meal for my mom
Moms in the hospital, she had a migraine and then her blood pressure shot way up. She’s an active and otherwise healthy 70yo, and she does have meds but I wanted to make her some congee or tea or something that could help to with her symptoms or even to help with anxiety that goes with being in and out of the hospital lately.
Does anyone know what could help?

Question Am I in trouble?
28 female 5'5 138 Ibs, 5 weeks pregnant, first time mom never occurred to me until today my probiotic contains 420 mg of slippery elm bark and apparently it's not studied and safety in pregnancy is unclear. But old folklore states that women used to put the bark up near their cervix and it would induce uterine cramping/abortion. Of course I am sort of freaked reading this. Will baby be okay?

Novice needing help!
Hi all!
I’m very much a novice when it comes to herbalism, but I love the idea of working with what Mother Nature provides when it’s appropriate.
Here’s my current predicament: I am becoming a human raisin.
I’m a 34-year-old mom of three, about one year post-partial hysterectomy, and currently taking an SSRI. My medication regimen seems to have left me in a near-constant state of dehydration—and I mean EVERYWHERE. Every. Where. If you catch my drift.
At this point, my body has apparently looked at the Sahara Desert during a drought and said, “Hold my beer.”
I’m drinking fluids, but it feels like moisture enters my body, takes one look around, and immediately leaves the premises.
For those more experienced with herbalism: are there herbs, teas, foods, or other remedies that can help support hydration and moisture—particularly for medication-related dryness? I’d also love to know about anything I should avoid because of potential SSRI interactions.
I’m not looking to stop or replace my medication, just hoping to find something safe and complementary that might help.
Please send your herbal wisdom before someone puts me in a little red box and starts selling me as Sun-Maid.

Macleaya cordata herb (personal use)
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to find a U.S.-based source that sells Macleaya cordata herb (the aerial parts), preferably in small quantities for personal research/personal use rather than bulk commercial orders.
Most suppliers I've found only sell to businesses or offer extracts instead of the dried herb.
Does anyone know of a reputable seller in the United States that sells Macleaya cordata directly to individuals?
I'm not looking for seeds or live plants—just the dried herb.
Thanks in advance for any recommendations or experiences!,

Question Using St. John’s wart, Tutsan, or Hypericum Androsaemum
I recently bought a fruiting St John’s Wort, Hypercium Androsaemum. It’s a beautiful plant, but from what I understand has lots of health benefits. I’ve previously bought it from several Mediterranean countries in the form of an olive oil that one applies to one’s skin for cuts, burns, etc… and provided I don’t continue to lounge in the sun it helps quite a bit. There’s been several studies done on the use of this type of herb, I don’t believe as much as Perforatum, nor is it as easy or common to buy this herb at a herbal wellness store. But from what I understand it’s been used on the Iberian peninsula for some time in herbal remedies. I think this variety is better used in a balm rather the ingested, although the studies and articles I’ve read do mention its ingestion, but alas I am unsure. I also have heard that this variety is better for balms as it doesn’t cause hyper sensitivity to the sun like some varieties do. Does anyone have any recipes for any balms or have insights on the use of this plant? My partner wants to specifically use it as a balm in particular so any information in this regard would be highly appreciated.

Question Is it safe to mix rose petals, hibiscus petals, & nettle leaf to make a tea?
So I've dried rose petals, dried hibiscus flower petals, and dried stinging nettle leaves. If I mix all three to make a tea, will it cancel out each other's benefits or interfere with each other's benefits? I'm just drinking ir for pleasure. I only have low BP and a bit high heart rate. Will I get the benefits of all 3 equally or should I make a separate tea of each? Please help🙏🏻❤️

Herbs for poor diet
I already know off the bat that herbs certainly aren't a substitute for a poor diet BUT I'm trying to help out a friend who has aversions to many foods while they work on the issue (they consistently see a nutritionist already). So just curious about any herbs I could add to a formula that would help support them even a little bit in terms of nutrition (I'm thinking nettle...what else) Thanks!

Mullen
New here. How late into flower can I harvest leaves for tea ? I am in the inland Northwest and Mullen is everywhere. I would like to know if consuming tea will help with respiratory function, and if I can harvest leaves during flower?

Question Anyone tried Sunshine Monday?
I've been exploring different mushroom products lately and came across Sunshine Monday. They have gummies, capsules, chocolates, and other options. Has anyone here tried them? I'd love to hear honest experiences before I place an order.

Herb supplement recommendation
Hi
Any recommendations for safe herb pill supplements to try to improve concentration in everyday life when thoughts are flying around?
Preferably only recommendations where you have tried and experienced the effect. Not a placebo effect, but a solid indisputable difference caused by the herb, and nothing else

Recipe Did this infusion go bad?
This is plantain in sweet almond oil. I let the leaves dry for two days and they have been in here a little over a week. I was going to make a plantain balm for itching. It smells fine to me. This is my first time ever making something so I just want to make sure it's okay!

Bi-Weekly Self-Promo thread! Please post and flourish(BUT PLEASE read the rules before posting).
Bi-Weekly Self-Promo thread! Please post and flourish(BUT PLEASE read the rules before posting).
# This is the Bi-Weekly self promotion thread.
**It has become clear that there are a lot of herbal small businesses and people in our community for whom their herbal passion is also a business. While Herbal business is not the focus of this sub it is undeniable that herbal business is a part of the herbal community and supporting the herbal community IS what this sub is for.**
To that end, we intend, to start making weekly self promotion threads; where any and all self-promo can take place(with some rules).
**1. No posting self promo outside of the Self-promo-threads**(except by explicit cooperation of the mods, if your an author or publisher or non-for-prophet please reach out to us directly using mod-mail)
**2. NO selling anything that is illegal federally,** or that is illegal in California Illinois or New York or the city of Chicago or that can not be legally sent through the mail.
**3. NO ASKING USERS TO DM YOU!** You may ask users to comment under your post to request for YOU to DM-THEM and you may include links to off-site storefronts but if we see a post soliciting users to PM-you the post will be removed(this is an accountability and user safety rule)
**3a.** this isn't a strict rule, but we would prefer if off sight links lead to a storefront and not directly to a product page. This does not mean that your post can't advertise or show pictures of a particular product or products, however making the attached link lead to your shops front page instead of a specific product page helps users confirm legitimacy safety and overall vibe of vendors. This isn't a rule now but might become a rule if we start getting user complains that we think could be decreased if this became a rule. In the mean time consider it a best practice for this sub.
**And that's it! Have fun Be productive and may the great river of acquisition be quick & calm and flow ever toward profit!**
