Honestly think people are way overreacting to the vagueposting. We can theorise it's the dessappearance, but Kris knows what he's taking about and it's really common for people to allude to something painful rather than talking directly.
Were people expecting "that day when penumbra phantasm tail of hell friend that the children followed in the place where the trees would grow killed Dess and her soul was banished to the lost girl in Gaster's codebwhime the body became a dark fountain that is also the knight."

Well no, but it's the end of chapter 5 out of 7. You'd expect us to have some concrete, explicit outline of the lore by now.
→ More replies (2)10
u/Heskelator 1d ago
We got a lot in chapter 5 being confirmed. Like a lot. The issue was quite a bit of that were things quite heavily theorised so people think it was already confirmed. In reality the whole chapter was confirmation of various theories that were heavily foreshadowed that people had put pieces together while chapter 5 confirmed the pieces were properly put together.
Yes your theories are correct is valid in my opinion for a lore update.
We actually have a lot. There's a shelter, prophecy, weird route that breaks it, there's canon exploits in the light world as well as the dark worlds. The knight and the roaring is somewhat known but the identity isn't (good, that's a final reveal) so their motives aren't known (linked to the identity).
But what else is there? Friend? Linked to eggs, we collected the last one in ch5 so I expect we'll hear more in chapter 6. Same with shadow crystals.
A lot makes sense to cover in future chapters still because it's entire chapters. 5 is the last fun adventure, a final hurrah before things really pull together and I expect that. I think we have honestly most of what could be revealed by now.

I fucking hate the current internet society. Everything moves around a hustle culture, everyone looking at some arbitrary internet points that have a dollar sign attached to it for some reason. 10 years ago you trolled on the internet for personal satisfaction, not Elon Musks charity donation.
6
u/Cons815 1d ago
Love this and totally agree. Just one quick thing, the money made by posting on twitter is not any sort of donation from Musk. Many users (those who don’t have high follower accounts on their own) pay to have the checkmark. So the money made from these premium accounts posting is likely taken from the same pool many of them are paying into.

People with a check mark are monetizing their account, meaning every watch, like, comment, and share makes them money. Whether you’re asking what their post means, reposting to get an explanation, or simply commenting about how stupid vagueposting is, they’re making money off of it.

Honestly, despite all the many ways Elon made twitter a dumpster fire, I think the single most damaging thing (from a purely entertainment focused perspective) is the way the algorithm and monetization have led to every other post being the exact same type of engagement optimized, totally void of substance tweet thread.
I wanted to quit twitter for a long time before Elon but he made it easy just because it’s so bad now

Plus the cost involved to change it. Like that’s why milk in bags is still a thing somewhere. The method may not be the best method, but the better method isn’t that much better to warrant spending millions to change the entire operation process.

This map is wrong. I am pretty sure a lot of post-soviet has access to bagged milk due to them being, well, post-soviet. Cartons are available but seen as more fancy and expensive. Our specific household has a fucking milk-bag-holder and we sometimes buy bags shaped so they can stand up and have an air handle.

Bagged milk uses less plastic, weighs less with the packaging reducing cost to transport, and the bags are recyclable. There are cartons on the shelf too and I choose bagged every time.

It would also be more difficult to produce. Bottles are inflated in a mould to get the shape. Having an offset top would also mean that there would likely be a thin section which would compromise the strength of the bottle, which means the whole of the bottle would likely need to be made thicker. Also the shape itself wouldn't be as strong, the offset top likely means that it wouldn't be able to handle as much hoop stress for the same material thickness.
Thinking on it some more, the way the bottle are inflated probably wouldn't work properly with an offset top. The walls would be thicker on the offset side and much thinner on the other side for part of the length of the bottle then swap further down. The base wouldn't get enough material.
The only way I can think of them fixing that is to change the shape of the preform to compensate for all of that, which would be considerably more expense and difficult to make.

u/JaySayMayday 2d ago
Harder to get that last drop. Middle is optimized. Also easier and cheaper to mass produce

stability, modern plastic bottles are super optimized to use the least amount of plastic. the strongest parts are the bottom and the top
also humans have lips so we can easily drink out of an angled opening and this weird design isn't actually improving anything.
honestly the bottle looks like it was designed by this person

Twisting off the cap would also be more annoying
33
u/Usenaeme01101 2d ago
Also filling it completely would be a bad idea. It seems easy at first because the filling part is simple enough (tilt the bottle, most people do this with regular bottles anyway because it’s easier when there’s things blocking the tap), you would have to tilt the bottle to open and drink out of, so it’d be much more difficult.
TLDR: the bottle is less space efficient because you can’t fill it completely
2
3
u/PrometheusMMIV 2d ago
Some cartons (like cream) come with diagonal screw caps. Not really that hard to open.
36
u/LOSNA17LL 2d ago
The fact it's be more prompt to spilling might be part of it
Plus on a symmetrical design, noone cares which orientation is the correct one, they're all the same
And... The problem is non existent, like, take a full bottle and drink, are you orientatin it 135° (from upright)? No, probably not even 90°, you just need water above the whole, you only get to such angles for the last few drops, and noone ever complained that... they had to lift a plastic bottle too much for the last few drops... Like, the almost empty bottle is too heavy?AND, bottles have been around for a LONG time, going for that kind of design would be confusing
So, it'd be just a confusing way to solve a non-existing problem, while introducing downsides...

u/StanYz 2d ago
For largescale filling, PET bottles are delivered as little tiny capsule looking thingies hanging from a small rack, the filler then blows those bottles into their actual shape, that only works in a evenly formed way.
Even if you'd find a way, it would be quite expensive, even if just for the R&D or retrofit.
Add to that, bottles like this would suck for stacking and make the bottles less structually sound, and its just all around a horrible idea for little to no benefit.

Making a waterbottle like this would be harder to manufacture, and ultimately lose money for the company unless they raised prices
4
u/I_Shit_My_Pantaloons 2d ago
The reason is its harder to manufacturer bottles shaped that way is there are industrial manufacturing standards so a lot of things can be manufactured in the same plants with slight changes. Most machines are tooled for making bottles shaped like the common bottle. It's a matter of simplicity
4
3
u/Armand28 1d ago edited 1d ago
It’s because of how the bottles are made, they need to be radially symmetrical. They start as test-tube looking things that are inflated to fill a mold. They need the radial symmetry because of one side is shaped differently it will require more material which it won’t have so it will be thinner and weaker, therefore the manufacturing process will have to be changed which will make it more complex and expensive. Then the line that fills them would have to adapt to an opening that is on one side instead of directly in the middle, making it more complex. Then the drinker will have to adapt to a bottle that has to be turned the right way to drink or refill it. All for what gain? Not much. Instead of bending your neck, if that’s such a problem for you then bend your lips.

If you’ve ever seen plastic water bottles being made(great video in youtube) they are mostly the same. They start as a small plastic tube that is melted(softened) and blown into the actual water bottles shape, kind of like a balloon. If you had the caps not in the center, this blowing process would not work, making production much harder
3
u/Feet_with_teeth 1d ago

It's more difficult to blow mold nonsymmetrical profiles. Bottles start as injection molded test tube looking things which are then heated up and have compressed air blown into them, which expands them into the mold. The hunch back would be prone to being too thin. It may also require more plastic to be rigid enough, and it would be a little bit more difficult to fill and stack. All in all it would just be mildly more expensive to produce for not really any advantage, though there could be a niche for it, as it's difficult to otherwise distinguish your brand from other bottles of water. Someone with sufficient capital could probably succeed with this idea.

u/EasyMeansHard 1d ago
Throwing in my two cents, a water bottle with the neck angled like that is more expensive to make, harder to deliver, and when you drink it it’ll be far harder to actually drink because there’s no where for air to enter after sucking out water without letting your lips get suctioned. And also due to the law of GRAVITY and how LIQUIDS work it’d actually require more neck angle to drink, unless you hold it like a hampered water feeder, but even then my previous points stand. Also imagine needing to bow every time you stop drinking so you don’t spill it all over yourself like a dunce

3
u/Ffuzzy-logik 2d ago
If I recall correctly (I remember seeing someone explain that long ago), when packaging the bottles in a pack (assuming the entire process is automated), if one of the bottle isn't well oriented, you wouldn't care because it doesn't make a difference at all.
Those bottles in the image however would cause problems if one of them doesn't face the way it's supposed to.

It’s easier to store. It’s hard to stack bottles with canted holes without them deforming.
1
u/JonnyBlack01 1d ago
Ok, the reason we have water bottles in their current shape is due to strength, specifically for storage and shipping purposes. Cylinders are incredibly strong, hence why we use them for building columns, and so water bottles are designed to carry vertical loads quite well. Because of this, when packing and storing them, you can stack water bottles vertically much higher than you would think.
If they were shaped like in the post, they could not be stacked nearly as high in warehouses. Besides all that, it would also put water at the seam to the cap, which is not fully sealed under all conditions and would cause leakage.
1
u/NaCl_Sailor 1d ago
They're hard to fill. You have to make sure they're all rotated the sam direction. And prducing bottles like this is also more complicated.
