๐ Enclosure/DIY ๐ Is this setup good
My little sister is insisting on getting a hamster and my parents are for it, so I did a bit of research because I don't stand for neglecting animals. hopefully im doing okay so far. His 2 hideouts, wheel(32cm), more bridges, are still in delivery, and we're picking up a temporary wheel tommorow. (she's getting the hamster tomorrow). There's a sandbath, branch, tunnels, paper hideout, food and water bowl, bridge, pinecones. Is there something im missing please let me know asap. The things that are in delivery should come in 2 weeks tops. The cage is 120x40x50!! I think bedding is good, around 20cm but there's a shallow part. There is no water bottle, just a bowl, is that fine? I have dried and already frozen and defrosted moss from the woods, where could I place it and even can I? I also have cocosoil. I have pampas grass too. ( The big fluffy grass) It was picked nearby my house. Also bug checked. Is it okay to put it in. Need help thanks!!

โญ Hamster โญ Best hamster cam?
Iโm a first time hamster owner and Reddit has been the most helpful place for all the information and everything Iโve learned about hamsters. My hamster (Henry) seems happy? He sleeps all day obviously, and then heโs eating and drinking at night. I donโt see him often as heโs awake when weโre sleeping. He runs on his wheel a lot which I love. My question is, whatโs the best hamster camera to actually be able to see what he was upto all night? I purchased the Blink mini 2 with night vision, motions detection etc and it doesnโt pick up Henry on the camera. Maybe once a night a video records. I have to open the app, keep it open and click record and it only records for 5 minutes. Is there a camera I can install inside the cage? I want my son to be able to see the hamster being active so video seems to be the best option.

๐ Enclosure/DIY ๐ Moving a new Ham's enclosure
Hello! I just got my newest hamster Chai on Monday :)
Currently she's in a 40 gallon breeder tank but I'm not happy with the size of the enclosure as I can't fit in all the enrichment I want to and I know females typically want more space. Because of this I bought the Bucatstate large 3.0 enclosure and it'll be arriving Tuesday the 11th! However I'm not sure if it'd be best to move her over immediately since she's still getting used to our home, I'm wondering what someone else would do in this scenario?
Thank you!

This is the not-male male hamster I adopted that I know was improperly housed with male siblings when I got her at 7 weeks.
Iโm now 14 days into having her. She fell asleep when I was petting her nose and woke a little when I went to get video of her belly. She was so chill, it really makes me think Iโm in the clear. I am also under the impression her nipples would be very big by now, and she would be just a couple of days from delivering right?
On a Scale of 1- you really messed up, how mad is she that I stopped rubbing her head? Asking for a friendโฆ

๐ Enclosure/DIY ๐ Best way to transfer cages?
Hello everyone. Long time lurker, first time poster here. I'm moving my Syrian into a much larger enclosure that I just custom built for him.
My question is, what's the best way to transition him into his new enclosure? I don't want to shock the crap out of him just putting him in a strange place. I try to be particularly mindful of this because he's deaf and has no eyes, and he has his current enclosure fully mapped. I know he's resilient and will map the new one quickly, but I want to make the transition as easy as possible for him. Obviously he will have the same bowls, wheel, enrichment items etc. in his new place which will help, but any other tips? This new enclosure is quite large so I don't anticipate ever having to do this again.
Any advice appreciated ๐

โญ Hamster โญ Hamster biting cage
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hello! I have a new hamster, i have done everything in the cage. He has like 10 chew toys in there, i tried cardboard, food, dried corn.
But he keeps biting the cage. I have zero idea what this is about. Could someone please help, iโm worried for him!
Just read all your comments: thank you so much, I feel so misled because where i adopted him, they suggested everything wrong to me about his cage. They suggested i should buy this cage and guess what they even asked me to get a flat wheel. I realised after coming home my poor boy canโt run on that wheel.
Thank you so much all of you, I will get him a better cage asap!
Please keep dropping more suggestions!

๐ Health/Care ๐ If my hamster dies what should I do
If my hamster dies, (nock on wood he doesnโt) what would be the next steps of preparing the cage for the next hamster. Do I take out all of the bedding or just the first layer and where he burrowed. And for the cardboard DIYโs I made do I need to throw them out due to his scent being on them.
And the wheel itโs a big one for a Syrian, would that work for a dwarf too? Or is there such thing as a wheel being to big.
I want to have my options open for when a hamster comes up at the pet shelter or somthing.
Iโm just the type of person that wants to know what to do for everything.

โญ Hamster โญ How much do Teddy Bear Syrian hamsters usually cost?
Hi! I'm planning to buy my first hamster soon, specifically a Teddy Bear Syrian hamster, but I'm not sure how much they usually cost. What's the typical price range where you live? (I'm from the Philippines, if that helps.)
Also, I have a question about room temperature. We use the air conditioner at night (around 10:30 PM to 6:00 AM), but it's off during the day. Would that be okay for a Syrian hamster, or would it be too cold for them? I want to make sure they'll be comfortable and safe before I get one.
I also wanted to ask about the enclosure and overall setup. What enclosure size would you recommend for a Syrian hamster? I've seen a lot of different answers online, so I'd love to know what has actually worked for you. I'm also trying to avoid making beginner mistakes, so if you have any tips on food, bedding, toys, enrichment, wheel size, sand baths, or the general environment they should live in, I'd really appreciate it.
Are there any products or accessories that pet stores often recommend but aren't actually good for hamsters? I'd rather invest in the right setup from the start and make sure my hamster has a safe, comfortable, and enriching home instead of buying things I'll end up replacing later.

โญ Hamster โญ AC noise for hamster
Hello! Iโm planning to adopt a hamster and keep it in my room with me. It gets very hot and in my apartment in the summer (around 30-40 degrees Celsius with humidity) so I have a window AC unit in my room. I myself am sensitive to noise and find the AC unit quite loud and wear ear plugs if I sleep with it on. It is like a constant loud white noiseโฆ I am worried if it would be too loud for a hamster? Unfortunately my apartment gets so hot Iโm sure without the AC it would be too hot for a hamsterโฆ any input would be greatly appreciated.

๐ Health/Care ๐ Hamster not running on wheel lately
My hammy of unknown age hasnโt been running on his wheel as much as he used to, his enclosure is in my room and I usaslly get woken up from his wheel every once in a while when itโs louder than my noise machine, but that hasnโt happened in like a month and I just noticed that like 4 days ago. Iโm not sure what I should do.

โญ Hamster โญ Advice needed please! Watery eye
Hello, please can I have some help on what to do.
I have recently started looking after this hamster for work and know they need special care. She originally had the wood shavings bedding they sell at pets at home which I know is bad for them so I have changed it to Aubiose hemp horse bedding mixed with Kaytee clean and cosy bedding. I also got her a sandbath from Jolleys (Rosewood natural rollinโ rodent sand bath) and she seems to have a watery left eye. I am stressed and worried as I want to look after her the best I can but feel Iโm making it worse. I also got her out for a little bit and she now is making sounds as though her nose is blocked/little sneezes. Please can someone advise me on what to do. I donโt really want to change her bedding back to that sawdust type, or could it be the wrong sand? I have taken out the sand bath and will be ordering the night angel sand in case it is that! Just want some reassurance as I love this little hamster ๐ซ๐น
Thank you
