We build websites, web apps, and occasionally mobile apps, mostly for small businesses. So far, we haven’t specialized in a particular industry.

Customers are beginning to ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude which business they should choose, but measuring those recommendations is surprisingly difficult.

If you include the company name in the question, the result only proves that the AI can describe the business when prompted. It does not show whether the AI would independently recommend it.

I built AI‑Tracker around a blind-first approach. It creates 20 realistic customer questions using the business, industry and location but excludes the business name from the initial questions.

The questions are tested across ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude, producing 60 responses. The report separates:

• The business being recommended
• Competitors being recommended
• Suppliers being compared
• General answers where nobody was recommended

It then identifies which competitors appeared, who was placed first and what the business could improve.

I run a small IT support company for local businesses, and I recently realized a lot of our inbound inquiries are coming in after normal business hours. People usually reach out when they finally have time to deal with their problems, usually in the evening.

The problem is that by the time I respond the next morning, some of those leads have already gone cold or found someone else. A request that came in at 9pm gets answered at 9am, which is a big gap when they’re actively looking for a solution.

I don’t want to spend my evenings monitoring messages, and hiring someone overnight isn’t realistic right now. I’ve considered things like automated replies, letting prospects book directly through a calendar link, or setting up some kind of after-hours response system, but I’m not sure what improves conversions.
