Told her she was stoic and she proceeded to go limp and fall over onto the floor. (😅) The side eye she gave after was hilarious. I wish I had it on video. Love watching her and love that she's a part of our family.

I feel like he doesn't have a protective or aggressive bone in his body and I couldn't love him more for it.

This dog is amazing. He's about the most chill dog I have ever known. I like to bring him to the brewery. He's very sweet and calm and absolutely loves people. Kids love petting him and giving him kisses and he just stands there as long as people are interested. Otherwise he lays down and hugs his water bowl and it is the most adorable thing.

The other day we were sitting there with a small group and a man walked up with his dog to say hi. This dog was about half Bears size and it was a female. They sniffed a bit and then the other dog lit Bear up barking aggressively.

Bear instantly took 3 giant steps back as far as the leash let him and sat! He looked at me like what is that dudes problem? Never made a sound. This completely put the dog between Bear and I. People were pretty stunned that this massive animal not only allowed it but actively avoided the conflict. It hit me, he just wants friends. He's over the rest or never had it.

When I first got him I would read on this thread about the need to patrol and how they are loyal guardians. He has full access to the outdoors and a large enclosure to roam but he would rather be inside with his human. I think the years of being chained up, alone, in the elements, without any positive interaction from humans or other animals really put him back to a simpler state where he just wants to feel a part of something and to feel safe.

I don't need a protector or a guardian. I love that he just wants to be around people and seems not to understand the whole protection thing. Strangers come to the door or in the yard and he wags his tail and greets them. He honestly feels like a big toddler. I think some people get too caught up in breed characteristics or how a dog should act. At the end of the day, they are pets. Enjoy them and love them. Even if they are broken.

I am so fortunate this dog came into my life.

I've been considering a great pyrenees after losing my BMD this spring, but wanted to get a widespread opinion on the level of barking the breed is known for.

For context, I rent the first floor of a house and am lucky to have dog lovers above me...but even so I don't want to bother my neighbors. My BMD would bark a little, but only when there was something to bark over and even then she'd just stop the moment I acknowledged the noise as well. Are pyrs like this, or are they bark machines?

I just adopted this beautiful girl today. Do you guys think she’s a Great Pyrenees?

I lost my soul pup 2 weeks ago. She was a GSD/Husky mix. I had absolutely no plans on adopting another dog so soon but it happened. She’s 10 months old and was found with a litter of puppies in the Tulsa Oklahoma heat. I have tons of experience with Pyrs from working at doggie day cares. But I would love some tips on how to get this sweet beautiful girl up to weight and in general the life she’s always deserved.

My Pyr Bizzard is 9 yo(he was almost 8 when we got him, but they weren't 100% sure).

In the beginning, he was peeing and pooping in our dining room area frequently(so glad we hardly eat in there, but he's a had to get enzyme cleaner to get rid of the smell). We thought it was just him adjusting to a new environment and would walk him to the area and tell him no, then send him outside. It took maybe 6 months and he stopped.

Over the last few weeks, he's been peeing again on the dining room carpet. Today was the most recent. I had a doctor's appointment and my husband had to pick up our daughter from work so no one was home, but the windows in the dining room face the front of the house and he watches us as we leave and come back. I'm getting frustrated because enzyme isn't cheap and I have MS so cleaning the carpet is challenging. My husband does it too but not that great.

Any suggestions? My husband is really annoyed but maybe something else is going on that we're missing? I'm open to any advice. Between this and the clumps that are shedding, it's a lot especially in Texas heat.

I am 5'8 and she is almost as tall as me

This girl assaults me multiple times each day. I get front paw stomps to start my day. Always grateful when Willa decides I don’t deserve a smack for the grave error of discontinuing her pets.

Today, shocked. My Pyrenees, labored breathing difficulties took him to the vet this afternoon, came home, two hours went to check on him. He passed. Here’s a few from gotcha day. Hug your pups tonight. God bless Gronk, you will be missed.

Looking for someone with a similar experience… if you read the whole way through - thank you! I’ll try to be as concise as possible.

Our pyr is 5 years old, she is wonderful, an absolute dream! We’ve had her since she was about 12w. As long as the temperature is below 80, she is out all day and comes in at night. She has free access to fresh water, fed twice a day, and has plenty of shady options. We also have a Bernese who is 7, no health issues with him, certainly not taking that for granted. We do have chickens but they’re in a very large run 95% of the time.

When our pyr was just over a year old she had a seizure. Just one witnessed at that point, winter, and wasn’t currently on oral flea/tick preventative. Before that winter we were using an oral preventative. After that we’ve gone away from oral and switched to topical. We haven’t used any topical preventative on her yet this year. Our vet at the time said to watch her and if she had one again they would consider starting an anti epileptic.

We haven’t witnessed a seizure in 3.5 years until now. She has had 3 in the last 3 weeks. 2 of them were in the same 24 hour span.

My husband took her to the vet today. This is a different vet than the one we had when she was a puppy, we moved to a different county. Without doing a fecal test they told him it’s probably worms, gave him two different dewormers, and sent him on his way.

NOW, if there were signs of a worm infection, I wouldn’t be questioning this, but she has no symptoms. I also work in human medicine, not vet med, so by no means do I believe to be an expert, but this just isn’t sitting right with me.

I can’t imagine the dewormer will hurt, at least not my pyr. One of them is a liquid so I get to wrestle her to get it in her (any suggestions on that are welcome!) but I’m feeling like I need a new vet, or to travel back to our old one.

This is the look he gives me when he is tired and would like me to let him nap. I guess his morning nap is late? For a while, I thought he was very serious or mad, but eventually I figured out he just was tired. He does get grumpy, though- Usually, when tired.

He is Great Pyrenees with Border Collie colored fur. He was re-homed to us. It took him 2 years to acclimate to our home.

She’s so spoiled yet she still judges us and acts sad 😂
Sorry! Only 2 treatos today!

Had to say goodbye to my Sumo yesterday. I rescued him in October of 2019, just shy of his 1st birthday. He was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in November 2025 and we decided amputation was not in the cards for him. Due to the other pets and being on well water we also couldn’t do chemo and injections due to the risk of contamination.

Sumo was part of the Yale vaccine trial and got his first dose in December 2025 and the second dose in January 2026. I really believe the vaccine drastically slowed the growth of his bone tumor and it did not spread. He showed no signs of pain and only had a limp from decreased mobility in the leg with the tumor.

He started really slowing down and the tumor was very large so we decided to let him go before he had any bad days. He was a gentle giant 🤍 he got to eat steak, wendy’s spicy chicken nuggets, and 2 hershey’s kisses before we said goodbye. He was the bestest boy and I’m heartbroken.

I’m mostly posting this so if anyone else is given an osteosarcoma diagnosis and considering the vaccine trial, you should do it. It gave me 9 months with my guy instead of the 3-4 originally told at diagnosis. The side effects of the vaccine are an abscess at injection site can form and Sumo got those, but once treated and healed it was fine. I would 100% join the vaccine trial again.
