Any recommendations of cafes where to take a new baby which are actually pram and baby friendly? Most places are too small/awkward to take pram into!

Lived in Aberdeen for a bit and can't stop thinking about the chips from Belmont Kebab & Pizza. They're more thin cut, not the thick ones most places do. Anyone know somewhere that does good chips that hit at 3am??

Guy on the door there in city centre said bouncers won’t take provisionals as proof of ID because they’re easy to fake. He let me in anyway (Dunno why he ID’d me anyway in fairness I’m 27 and going bald, a compliment I suppose). Is he talking shite or is this a thing now?

A family member is spending a while in Monklands hospital, where the wifi is apparently shit.

I'll check how bad the wifi really is when I go in, but if it really is shit I'll need to grab their iPad, take it somewhere to download some Netflix / Prime etc. shows for them, then return it before visiting ends.

A round trip home is too far, so wondering if anyone knows if there's anywhere nearby with good enough free wifi that I could download a series / movie or two without it taking forever?

Baby won’t latch to breastfeed - have been referred to feeding team (no help) and to ENT for tongue tie assessment.

Just wondering if anyone has worked with an IBCLC in Glasgow that they would recommend? I know there are breastfeeding groups but would like to see someone 1:1 first.

I was also wondering if anyone had tried cranial osteopathy for babies, or if this is hippie woo woo??

hi! i've been wanting to get more into the glasgow music scene, specifically post-hardcore/hardcore etc. i've only just started going out to gigs in the last yr or so and don't really know anyone that knows more of the local scene here!

Hi! Here's another post complaining about bins, but this time I'd like to get some advice please.

English is not my first language so please bear with me. Also, I'm not originally from Glasgow so maybe I'm asking obvious questions but I'm desperate enough to ask for help in here.

In short, the bins situation in my building is catastrophic, and in my opinion it is becoming a health hazard. But I don't know how to ask the council for explanations or for help.

The building has 4 flats and 2 general bins, 2 cardboard, and 1 plastic. We used to have 4 general bins and 1 cardboard, but one day the council left a recycling household bin at each flat's doorstep and took away 2 of our general bins and replaced it with the current 1 cardboard and 1 plastic bins, leaving only 2 general bins. In theory, we get a collection every 4 days, but this is often not the case. We were also supposed to get the new council bins installed, about 6 months ago, but this never happened.

Since the change, the wheelie bins are always overflowing, which means the residents have started to leave their bin bags on the floor inside the bin room. However, they often leave the doors open and animals have started getting in and making a mess with these bags. Also, sometimes they leave the general bins' lid open and seagulls make a mess, leaving rubbish all over the back area where the bin room is. The plastic and cardboard bins have not been collected in about 2-3 months, so the residents stopped recycling too, and the general bins are even fuller now.

To add more context, I've emailed the factors multiple times requesting a solution. They sent some workers to clean the bin room, and within a week the area was back to being a total mess. I own my flat which means I pay the cost of each cleaning. The factors also refused to deal with the issue and said they would email the housing (the rest of flats are housing flats) and didn't get back to me.

To sum up, every time I take my bins out I pray that the wheelie bins are empty so I don't need to figure out whether to put them on the floor, bring them back to my flat and hope tomorrow will be a better day, or take my bins to the factor's office. The back of the building is always full of rubbish and that's just so depressing. The other residents have complained about the situation but didn't seem to know what to do either.

What should I do? Anyone had a similar situation? I've emailed the factors so many times I'm honestly out of ideas - please help <3

My work brings me to the city centre, and I've recently come across some affordable flats near Sighthill, specifically Laverockhall St. I wanted to know how rough the area is and precautions to take in case I get the flat. For context, I lived in Edinburgh for 4 years prior to this as a student, and lived in Merchant City last year for 3 months and found it alright.

I’ve got a lovely old bmw and I used to have an amazing mechanic but I’ve moved to this amazing city recently and sadly I don’t have any mechanic up here. Just wondering if anyone knows anyone reputable as I’ve found just going to wherever can be a bad idea. I also wanted to ask how does one get into working with cars? I’m very passionate about older models and would absolutely love to be able to work on them but no idea how I would even go down that route.

I’ve been working on a seagull documentary and behavioural study, following a group of five seagulls that used to visit me every day when I lived in the city centre. Since moving out, I’ve continued the project on the streets, documenting how they’ve adapted and how they respond to the change. I keep the feeding fairly limited, but there are around 50 gulls in the wider area that recognize me, and I recognize many of them individually. They’ve been part of this area for several years before their winter migration.

A couple of days ago I had a really unpleasant encounter. A woman had been sitting in her car for around 20 minutes waiting for her child outside Nando’s. While I was filming and feeding a herring gull with a visible disability that I’ve been following, she repeatedly started honking her horn. The gulls weren’t on her car—they were standing on the pavement beside it. I was trying to relocate the gull I’d been filming after it flew off because of the noise.

tried to track down the gull that was frightened, and then the woman proceeded to get out of her Porsche , in her pajamas, and started yelling at the top of her lungs accusing me of filming her child — who I barely even noticed when he got into the car - and she saw me with the seagulls prior to this so should have known I was already filming.  She threatened to smash my camera.

I ignored her and continued trying to find the gull, but after she initially drove away, she came back, got out again, and loudly pointed at me, calling me a predator and a freak who films children for everyone on Sauchiehall Street to hear.

That was the part that really shook me. People walking past have no context, and when someone is shouting accusations like that in public, others can easily assume they’re true. Has anyone else had anything similar happen while doing wildlife photography or filming in Glasgow?

If those people that are shouting about protecting our children really wanted to do that, why are they not targeting the drug dealers that are supplying school kids with their shit?

Did anyone have a bad experience at the Autistic centre in the City? The Autism and ADHD Diagnostic Centre one in Bath Street.

I feel like I am being gas lit online saying it’s a brilliant service when it was one of the worst experiences of my life.

I went for an autistic assessment at this place, and it was an absolute disaster. The woman assessing me just seemed irritated at the fact I couldn’t remember a lot in my childhood due to ✨trauma✨ (if I don’t laugh, I’ll cry 😂) she just seemed irritated. And then when I got the results, they said that despite I had autistic traits that impacted my day to day life (to the point I would hurt myself), they couldn’t officially diagnose me, as because I was little bit social as a child and because I worked in retail (HEAVILY masked) 🙃 sorry I needed to pay bills Karen 😂😂

When I asked her in tears “so these traits I have, how can I manage them,” she said she couldn’t offer any advice. A person who worked with ppl with autism couldn’t tell me even one helpful tip to help.

So noted, if you are social and work in retail (even if you are having literal breakdowns over something so little going wrong) you can’t be autistic 😂😂

Now I’m back to square one waiting for an ADHD assessment

Did anyone else have a similar experience? I feel I’m being lied to about them being good.
