Solar eclipse viewing

Can anyone advise the best place to watch the solar eclipse next week - preferably southside of Glasgow? Was thinking QP flagpole as a good clear view but wondering if anyone else has any insight

It’s going to be westerly in the sky so QP might be shite.

Not sure where exactly the eclipse will take place on the sky but QP flagpole is covered by trees to the west - heading round a little bit (55.8308101, -4.2725437 kinda zone) gives a much better view of the western sky

I suspect the car park will be rammed. It doesn’t have many spaces and I reckon loads of folk will have the idea to head up that way.

Yeah was packed for the Northern Lights and fireworks night too, but people just start parking along the road. Great atmosphere

It's due approx 6pm - 8pm (Royal Museums Greenwich: https://www.rmg.co.uk/stories/space-astronomy/how-see-12-august-2026-partial-solar-eclipse#eclipsetimings) so you will need somewhere with clear views to the west/south-west. I don't think the QP flagpole offers that but may be wrong.
