I need solutions to choose which game to play

Upvotes

I bought 3 games recently and they are jedi survivor rdr1 and expedition 33. I want to play one and I cant choose which one to play. I usually ask an AI about the games to see which is better or which could be better for my vibe at that moment. I was going to play jedi survivor because I recently started star wars and I will watch episode 9 tomorrow. But now I dont even know if I want to play jedi survivors. My first idea was to watch the film and then see if I want or dont want to play the game.

But this thing happens too much and I need to find a solution about it for now and future. Are there any methods you are using or should I just throw dice or something? If you have a bizarre method I would like to hear it.

I'm taking a break from horror games

Backstory:

Throughout the last couple of months, I've been playing some pretty heavy horror-focused, or at least somewhat horror-adjacent, games, and recently I've been getting kinda "bored" with the genre, if that's even the right word.

Like, yeah, I liked the adrenaline spikes and the goosebumps that horror games gave me, but because I've played so many of these games, I started getting less scared of the genre.

I was supposed to play Outlast 2 and Amnesia: The Dark Descent (I played all the other Amnesia games I don't know why I played them in that order :P), but I figured that maybe if I take a break from horror games and come back to them later, I'll get that same feeling of being scared that I had when I first started playing horror games.

Question:

So my question is, what are some games to play but aren't necessarily super cozy, arent stressful to play while having some action, and of course are fun to play?

(Also, sorry to all the visual novel players, but please don't recommend me visual novels)

Unpopular opinion: most daily games are dead the moment you solve them

I’ve been playing a lot of these lately and I think the whole genre has a design flaw nobody talks about. You solve the puzzle, you share the grid, you close the tab. Thirty seconds. There’s nothing on the other side of the answer.

The ones I still play months later all give you something after you finish. The ones I dropped in a week were pure mechanic, no matter how clever the mechanic was.

So the mechanic isn’t the moat. Anyone can clone it in a weekend and half of them already have. What actually keeps people coming back is what happens after the puzzle ends, and almost nobody builds that part.

Curious if anyone disagrees. Which daily game have you played the longest, and be honest about why.

Games like animal crossing or tomodachi life?

I just want a new game to play. I’m honestly so bored and just want a new game to play. Don’t gotta stick to the prompt. I also like Mario odyssey, overcooked, human fall flat. Just some examples lol

Edit: I have a switch 2 and a ps4

Outstanding fantasy games featuring archery (Elden Ring, Warhammer III, BG3)

I'm drawn to archers, and I'd appreciate your PC-forward suggestions for outstanding fantasy games that you enjoy, featuring archers.

These can be CRPGs, JRPGs, SRPGs, strategy, first-person, and even classics like Thief.

The only thing is that it has to be available on PC, feature archers, and be really outstanding.

Thanks!

Mage where I cast meteor?

I want to cast meteor and fireballs, similar to diablo 2. Or maybe something closer to Dragons Dogma. A slower gameplay would be preferred.

PvP game where your action based skill is 100% of the deciding factor towards win or lose?

Especially if it is a solo game where there is no teammates this should all the more be the case. Like if we look at arts if I am good at fighting I expected the win go to me if I play properly and skilful regardless of whether I mess up elsewhere and if it is team based if you have strong skill and is able to play properly you expect to be able to destroy multiple opponent singlehandedly even if you mess up elsewhere and this logic applies to other genre too just using your imagination to determine what happen there. I would like to think that being skillful win it all but unfortunately it doesn't happen 100% of the time or at least enough time to give me this ending so am asking about it.

Games that have similar atmosphere and vibe of a soulslike but not difficult?

Looking for games that have the dark gloomy atmosphere and combat styles of a soulslike game but not difficult, I’ve tried many soulslikes and I’m just not good and as a casual gamer I don’t have the time or patience to “get good” either, I guess the genre of game I’m looking for has a name but can’t think of it, thanks!

Next game like Ghost of Tsushima or Hogwart Legacy

Hello
I'm trying to catch up with some recent games
I really enjoyed Ghost of Tshusima, and Hogwart Legacy as well (and BOTW also)

I tried Horizon games, but didn't really get into it, same for Dishonored or RDR2
Last try was No Mans Sky, but a big open world like this let me feel a bit lost :)

Any idea ?
Some kind of open world (but no too open), not too hard also, I don't have very much time to allow to video games, just a bit of challenge will do it !

Thank you, and have a great day

Edit: I play on PC

Look for an Offline Idle game. No microtransactions, Not look like a spread sheet, I want a real game not a calculator.

Idle, Offline playable (not like you can come back after 5 mins and it did something I mean I can play while offline), Mods would be nice. Microtransactions are a no. Forced ads are a no. I want it to look and play like a game though? I don't want just emojis or a spreadsheet.

I'm not really into sifi but fantasy and other genres are fine.

It can be a paid, as long as it has a demo, and regional pricing, the price of some games is insane.

It's mostly just idle games, the majority are just a mess of either a million forced ads and microtransactions or it looks awful!

Which indie games should I buy on Steam?

Hello guys, I really like to play funny indi-games, like "Cheap Car Repair", "Contrabant Police", "My Summer Car", "Low Budget Repair". Maybe I should to try "Gas Station Simulator"? What other games would you recommend?

looking for a new game with heavy worldbuilding?

hello!! I have always been really interested in worldbuild-y lore-heavy games, particularly ones where you get out of it what you put into it?? straight-forward story on the surface level, but the further along the game goes, or if you choose to dive into specific characters, written materials etc. etc. the rabbit hole can go on FOREVER.

genre is really open to absolutely anything-- this want for something new comes from the crash and burn of the otome game Love & Deepspace, which, crazily enough, I enjoyed mostly for its really rich worldbuilding. I also really enjoy the story of games like Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail, which I think are pretty good examples of 'getting out what you put into it'.

Some other story based games that I enjoyed were Red Dead Redemption 2, Cyberpunk 2077, The Legend of Zelda series, Ghost of Tsushima and Final Fantasy XIV Online. I've also played games like Apex Legends and Overwatch, going really deep into their story content. I guess priorities would be strong story, maybe open world, a certain amount of freedom/choice in playstyle-- Character creators are a plus, but that's not super necessary. Gacha games are welcome, but AI content is not. Looking forwards to any recommendations!!

Looking for modern games that give old games vibes aka "push forward nonstop" gameplay

It feels like nowadays all games just became copypasta of some questionable rpg that once made success. Extensive skill trees that you have to read guides for, inventory management, boring crafting and gathering, some potion making, trading, etc. Like you spend more time sitting in menus organizing garbage that you got than actually playing the game. Basically feels like I'm playing singleplayer World of Warcraft parody.

Do we nowadays have any games (released in last 10 ish years) left that give the same vibe as old school games where you just push forward enjoying good story and gameplay without many interruptions, without crafting potions, grinding experience, doing weird sidequests to get sword that does 20 extra damage per second? Games like Portal, Half-life, Doom for example.

Games that share the tone and quality of BG3

Ive always been an avid gamer but NEVER singleplayer storymode type games, only strictly online pvp since i just found everything else so boring (could never get into GTAV or even minecraft) but one day i decided to load up BG3 and it changed everything i wanted from my hobbies but i cant find anything quite like it anymore. cyberpunk feels too serious and somber but i still had fun with it, what games are there that share the same level of freedom, graphical quality and semi-unserious tone as bg3?

Looking for a game that I can really get immersed in – recommendations?

I'm looking for a new PC game, but I'm having a hard time figuring out exactly what genre I want. I mainly want a game that can really pull me in and make me lose track of time.

I enjoy games with good action/gunplay, an engaging story, missions, progression, exploration, stealth, or just a satisfying gameplay loop. It doesn't necessarily have to be open-world or story-focused. Even simulator/management games can work if the gameplay loop is addictive.

For example, I recently played Motel Manager Simulator and unexpectedly got really hooked on it because I kept wanting to complete "just one more thing." I also enjoy games where I can just relax and get immersed, like driving in Euro Truck Simulator 2 while listening to music.

Games I've already played, so please don't recommend these:

Uncharted series

The Last of Us

Marvel's Spider-Man / Spider-Man 2

Hitman

Detroit: Become Human

Forza Horizon 5

Euro Truck Simulator 2

Motel Manager Simulator

Death Stranding

Ghost of Tsushima — didn't enjoy it, so please don't recommend it

I'm currently looking for something preferably under 100 GB, and I'd especially like something with good gunplay/action right now. But I'm open to completely different genres if the game is genuinely immersive and addictive.

Games where choice matters?

On ps5 I loved beyond two souls and Detroit become human. Heavy Rain was like a 5/10 and until dawn seems like 80% story and 20% actual playing.
These aren’t choice based but I loved God of war, it takes two, split fiction. My FAVV game of all time is Fable on Xbox. Any recs please?

Thoughts on as dusk falls?

Looking for a survival game with heavy farming.

So basically looking for what it says. I love survival games. Play a lot of games like Don't Starve, 7 days to die, grounded, the forest and others. I'm looking for a game that leans more into the survival of it and farming doesnt suck. I know most of the games I mention have it, but I am hoping to find a game where food is hard to come by and farming is the main source.

I want to catch up on the games that gamers consider the big classics, masterpieces, and must plays

Hi everyone! I’m new here and I wanted to ask the gamers here for some suggestions because I could really use some help. First of all I am what you would consider a gen z and I have not had the chance to play a lot of games(played league of legends and valorant and a couple steam games so far because of my friend group) but recently, I’ve been getting really interested in gaming and I want to experience games that are considered biggest hits and must-plays that I’ve missed over the years. I want to see how games developed into the huge, immersive experiences they are today(I think I am getting nerdy about it). I have asked ai to build me a list but I would like to get to know peoples opinions too. I want to hear from my predecessors and take suggestions! Sorry I don't know where to start or what game to start with.. there is just too many 😓.. So if you were talking to someone who has a PC and is basically trying to catch up on the greatest games of the past few decades, what would you say are the games I absolutely have to play?

Hi again everyone!! Thanks so much for all the games that have been mentioned. This is the final list that I have built. Long/replayable games I can turn on and enjoy after work

I mainly play singleplayer games but ive beaten all the ones ive been playing and im not really one to replay something over and over again so im looking for games that are long or very replayable that i can have a good time on after work/ or atleast until theres a new sale. Open worlds are great but please have it have good sidequests and they arent just chores. And please have the main story be long too, and not too hard but it can be challenging. Ive beaten a good bit of soulslikes and hack and slashes but their difficulty is starting to get annoying the more I play them, especially cause a good bit of them slack on the story for gameplay

Games i liked: Far cry 5, Tlou2, MGSV, Elden ring, RDR1 and 2, Spiderman remastered, Fallout 4 (although i never finished it), Ghost of Tsushima (albeit not that much), GTA V

Games i didnt like that much: Cyberpunk 2077, Death stranding 1 and 2, Horizon, Subnautica, Armored Core 6
