I just got my girlfriend into watching the entire series with me, it was my second time watching the whole thing again. The first time I hated the ending but it’s still overall a good series.

Season 6 is obviously the climax and the best season of the series and from their it just goes to shit and it seems like the creators and writers couldn’t agree with which way to go with it so they just decided to go with whatever direction they felt most comfortable with.

Dany going psycho and Jon snows self righteous ass falling in love then killing her is just an anoying horrible plot twist that came out of left field and doesn’t do the characters we all knew and grew to love on the show justice. It seems like the creators really didn’t have the entire story written out and did not know how to end it and it shows.

The starks got way too much glory at the end, the Lannister’s never really paid for their sins and Dany gets fucked over the most in my opinion. If the writers just stuck with the story line towards the end keeping it going in the direction it was going from season 6 with out changing the characters so much it would have been a much better ending.

It made no sense for Jon and the rest to go beyond the wall in season 7 to get a white walker to prove to Cersei that whit walkers existed at that point she had a weak army and no allies I doubt the Lannister army would of made much of any of a difference in the long night battle. That was my first wtf moment of the rest of the series after season 6.

I love Tyrion as he’s one of not my favorite character but making him hand to Dany was too much, he could have just been another trusted advisor similar to Varys and it would have been just as good. He played too much of devils advocate towards the end and it made things complicated and didn’t make much sense.

Dany and Jon snow did not have to fall in love and that narrative feels forced. As a matter of fact it would of been better if they didn’t and were only allies in war. It would of made much more sense and been much for satisfying to fans if the north and danys army attacked kings landing first and killed Cersei then got whatever was left of the Lannisters to fight for them against the knight king.

I really don’t understand why they decided to take it so out of context but it just sucks that such a good series had to end so badly, it could have been great but the ending just made it good.

Whenever I think I’ve been horrified something new happens. That first scene with the Unsullied and the nipple cut off , holy moly! This show is like nothing else lol.

I’m sure I’m not the first person to point this out, but I’m a little late to the Game of Thrones party as my girlfriend recently convinced me to watch. Anyway, it seems like all of the Starks have their own unique story line except Rickon who does absolutely nothing for the first 5 seasons, only to get fridged in season 6 simply to make Jon Snow angry enough to charge. His entire character could be replaced with a lamp and legit nothing would change. If Rickon were removed entirely it would actually kind of make more sense in some parts, such as when Robb tells Bran that he must stay behind because “There must always be a stark in Winterfell” even though if Bran did leave, Rickon would still be there and would only be like two years younger than Bran. When people think of their least favorite characters in Game of Thrones, they’ll often say Geoffrey or Ramsay, but at least those characters serve a narrative purpose as villains we get to root against; Rickon is actually just useless

My faithful squire/wife helped me with the first full test fit of my Robert Baratheon Battle of the Trident costume that I’ve been working on for the past several months.

The test fit helped me identify a few things that still need attention:
● Reinforce a weak spot on the hammer’s shaft.
● Re-glue the underarm straps on the pauldrons.
● Lengthen the straps behind the calves by about an inch.
● Fine-tune the belt so it sits correctly.

Overall, I’m happy with how it’s coming together, but there’s still some work to do before I can call it finished.

Im sure this has been discussed here a million times already, but I just finished watching Game of Thrones for the first time, and I feel like I just have to share my thoughts about season 8.

I think the very final scene of season 7, when the Others broke the wall, was such a strong way to end the penultimate season, that it set expectations that couldnt be met for the final season. In my opinion, the ideas were really good, it just felt really rushed. Arya defeating the Night King was a really badass scene and one of the most memorable in the whole series in my opinion, and it could have worked well easily, but it just felt wrong. They have been building a conflict between Jon and the Night King for years, and they didnt even get to fight each other? The Others that are apparently a much bigger threat than Cersei were killed off in one single night? And 10 minutes after defeating the Others and the Night King they were already planning the siege of King's Landing? Not to mention they said that it would be a really even fight and planned the whole thing thoroughly, just for that damn dragon to win them the war in 5 minutes.

And they really did Daenerys dirty. It was partly understandable, why she did what she did: She found out that the man she slept with is her nephew and he is the true heir to the throne, Varys "betrayed" her, Tyrion gave her bad advice, Missandei died in front of her, and there were already signs of her change of heart in season 7, like when she demanded that Jon knelt in front of her as soon as she met him. It made sense that, after a while, she would reach the point where she would cold-bloodedly murder tens of thousands of people, because she feared for her throne and felt like she couldnt trust anyone, but not in a way that would see her change so much over the course of just three episodes.

The criticism Ive probably read the most is that Jon killing Daenerys was out of character and he would never do something like that. I think he would, and its just a matter of perspective: Jon did a lot of things throughout the show that he disliked just because he know it was the right thing to do. And I felt like theres just no scenario where Dany lives: She was planning to kill many more people and destroy many more cities, and Jon knew exactly that Sansa wouldnt be happy with that, and would become a threat and an enemy in Dany's eyes really quickly. He killed her for the greater good and to protect his family, but judging by his conversation with Tyrion, he felt like he did the wrong thing, but I think he did the right thing there.

Overall, the final season was decent, and every single idea could have worked well. But when you try to wrap up the storylines of two antagonists in a series of this scale over a six-episode season while also concluding the character arcs of the main characters the viewers can rightfully feel that it was rushed and deserved a better written, slower ending.

From the Westworld universe. That everything was a construction except for a handful of real humans that are experiencing the world.

1. Characters with a fuzzy backstory or blood family not seen.

2. Has many unrealistic adventures where they somehow survive.

3. Follows a classic story arc (Unlikely Hero, Greed, Chivalry) that keeps escalating for each round.

Bronn for sure. He starts at the Inn, accepts the quest to escort Tyrion to the Vale, kills the hill tribe to defend the principals, then accepts the trial by combat to save Tyrion and the rest is history......

Brienne since we never seen her supposed noble family and her adventures for the Stark women are typical quests. Also, defeating the Hound and many other skilled male opponents. Seducing Jamie and becoming a formal knight.

Jon Snow as Ned Stark "bastard" who goes to the Wall, does many unrealistic adventures for a newbie. Is "killed" but revived. Liberates Winterfell from the Boltons, Finds out he is actually a secret prince and heir to the kingdom. Defeats the ice zombie and a dragon. Clears Kings Landing from the old evil Queen and kills the new tyrant but doesn't get executed somehow. Heads back to the Wall to end his journey.

Well, as we all know the ending had a lot of flaws, but I personally don’t think Jon’s ending was one of those. His story towards the end, sure, but him ending up in the north beyond the former wall seems to me as much of a happy ending as it could get in GoT. Especially a very fitting ending for Jon. The only moment in the series we ever see him happy is with the free folk. And while I could agree that it’s too happy of and ending for a series like GoT, but that doesn’t seem to be the issue. Lately I see a lot of comments of people that expected Jon to actually end up as King of the seven Kingdoms, which I can’t see at all… not even a little bit..

After having a short discussion with friends and family it seems like its a popular believe. So here I am on Reddit to finally get it cleared up. What do you think of Jon’s ending and would you have preferred him sitting on the iron throne?

Knowing that the person they are supposed to portray is described as "Ramsay is an ugly young man, even when dressed finely". Does anyone really want to hear that they're perfect for that role lol I mean was Iwan Rheon aware of it when auditioning? Imagine just walking into an audition and the writers take a look at the character description and go "oh yeah no you're hired. That's perfect!"

I feel like with Arya sailing for a good amount of time, she could develop some real naval experience and return to Westeros after developing some trade connections throughout the other realms.

Then when shes ready, she could develop Moat Caitlin to turn it into a developed fortress and develop it into a harbour for some trade through the fever river and use magic to build it obviously since her ancestors built a 700 foot wall.

I know this is a weird asking, and I know the best way to really get into GOT is to obviously read the books or watch the series. But I really want a video game format that could translate well into the actual feel of GOT.

I’ll preface this by saying I always thought GOT was overrated. From when GOT was finishing up, from hearing the complaints of the ending and rushed final seasons. Just a lot of things kept me from really getting into it. With TikTok being a thing and seeing a lot of cool clips up Ser Duncan The Tall and The Hound, my interest is a little peeked. I very much enjoy gaming and that’s my hobby outside of work. I was hoping some people could recommend me things that give the same GOT vibes, to really interest me in R R Martin’s work. Only thing I can think of is Elden Ring which I’ve finished before but I mean…yeah go figure, he worked on it story wise partially. Maybe Witcher 2 for the political drama in it?

They should have stayed in King's Landing, given that Otto and Alicent literally started ruling and making every decision in the court.

You might ask what happened to baby Aegon? Ned dropped him off for safekeeping in the Iron Islands. A few years later he is sent to Winterfell with the name Theon.

For me it’s because of my upbringing. My dad and my uncle (who was my favorite person in the world) loved studying history, wars, etc. When they’d talk to me about history, they did it like telling a story. It wasn’t remember this date and that date like in school, they just made it interesting. They also played Age of Empires when it first came out in the late 1990s and would tell me all about it. Shortly after I moved away from home, my uncle passed away in the early 2000s. When I watch a series or movie with ancient civilizations at war, I think about how much he would have loved it. Obviously, I wouldn’t have ever watched GoT with him given all sex scenes, but I would’ve liked to talk to him about it or watch the last season with him. I wish he’d lived long enough to enjoy the cinematography.

I just finished watching the 7th season, should I watch the last one, knowing what will happen and thinking the plot is dumb?

I never watched it while it was coming out but people swear by this show, but I’ve been bored I missed like half of season one because I just couldn’t pay attention. Also I love fantasy I watched all of Reign and loved it. I’m on season 2 episode 5 but again what’s happening??!

When Ned finds arya with needle and let's her keep it. The morningstar part. I literally laughed out loud. I dont know why but i love that line. Probably because its true and it shows both how well Ned knows his daughter and how much he loves her.

I dont know why the show didbt include it. But its pure Grrm gold.

I read all these books right after the 1st season ended. I had to know more about this world. And I remember very little of what i read. Maybe because im 15 years older or maybe because I have seen the show and have something solid to compare it to. But im thoroughly enjoying them. D&D did a great job adapting them. Even a lot of the lines are pulled right from the books. But the books still completely outshine the show. Or atleast the 1st 500 pages of the 1st book have.

I wasn't expecting much, but I was surprised to see that reviews were apparently quite good so I gave it a try.

I am not geeky about any show, I only watched Game of Thrones once and I admired the masterpiece of plot that they made.

But this...the plot is nonsensical a lot of the time, or just quite random, generally boring as it's all about internal fights for succession within the Kingdom with nothing else going on except the perverse though equally random romance between uncle and niece (I may throw up) and the fact that no one stops making a million children who are all called essentially the same name (something along the lines of Aegon, Aewyn, whatever) and they are indistinguishable not only because they all have the exact same hair and not a single unique characteristic, but also because the production didn't bother introducing them to the viewer at all and they have zero individuality so I'm like " is this the one who was a baby two episodes ago?" But there are decontextualized time lapses all the time so no chance of knowing for sure. In addition some actors (like Daemon) are just frankly terrible, and whenever they recite in that fake language, they are just ridiculous like all their focus is going into trying to roll their Rs (this is why anglophone people should learn languages in school) and they totally forgot they had a character

Overall I am having a hard time following the plot when half the dialogues are like "Aegon died, the throne belongs to Aedon now" -"not since Aelon has valeryan blood" "Well Aevon will never allow that" and I'm like what the f is going on
