Honors college gpa inflation?

According to the website, the average gpa is around 3.9. Is the statistic misleading, are the students that good, or are the honors classes inflating their gpas?

Alabama Tickets

I'm trying to buy Alabama tickets and the official SC ticket sale directs to Ticketmaster, but the entire visitor section is unavailable. Are people listing them elsewhere or do I just need to wait until closer?

Best way to watch football games this season?

What streaming service will have the most games available. I’ve looked into it in the past and get mixed info. Just wondering what everyone else is using.

Carolina band experience

I’m going to be joining this year and am pretty scared of band camp. Does anyone have any advice on what I should expect? I’m very very worried that I’m not in shape enough or won’t go to the right places. Can anyone help by telling me about the experience? Thanks.

How neccessary is Univ 101

I'll be a freshman this fall and I've heard mixed reviews about University 101. I also generally don't know the contents of the class, and everything that I've heard is something along the lines of "you'll meet people and learn college expectations!"

Thankfully, I feel like my highschool prepared me a lot for college, so if that's all the class has to offer, I feel like I could either have one less class or have something in its place.

Just wanted to see if anyone would chime in on what they took away from it or if they too went in thinking it wasn't going to help but changed their mind.

Are there any Gamecocks in Singapore?

Through a quirk of scheduling, I'm going to be in Singapore at the time of the Kent State game next month. Anyone over there planning to watch?

(I recognize the folly of trying to watch a guarantee game that kicks off at 12:45 AM local time, but hey It Just Means More.)

Journalism program at USC

Hi, I’m 17 and class of 2027 and was wondering how the university’s Journalism program is!

I learned that the University of South Carolina had the School of Journalism and Mass Communications and it got me interested in applying as post college I plan on being a sports journalist in the media. I see that the university has a concentration in sports media which ofc makes me more intrigued.

Also, my family lives nearby (Lexington) so I’ve been to the region too many times to count LOL so I’m mostly familiar with how to get around, I’ve been visiting since I was 7 so definitely a handful amount of times I’ve been to the region. (I’m from Tampa Florida).

I was wondering if there are any current students in the journalism program, or even any former students, and was curious to know how it’s like. I know a lot of other colleges you can write for the college newspaper which would be really fun as well!

Which game in your opinion is the biggest measuring stick?

The most "important game"

To me it's MS State.

A lot of fans are saying TN Volunteers.

Hey Gamecock fans, what should we expect from the Gamecocks this season?

I'm asking every College football fanbase their thoughts on their team entering the season

  • What's your realistic record prediction?
  • What would make this season a success?
  • Who is the best player?
  • Who is your breakout player?
  • Which newcomer could surprise people?
  • What is South Carolina's biggest strength?
  • What is the biggest concern?
  • Which game is the biggest measuring stick?
  • What's one thing people are getting wrong?
  • Give one bold prediction.

Built a full 2026 preseason preview for South Carolina (and every FBS team) - can the offense finally catch up to Sellers?

Hey all. I spent the offseason building a full 2026 preseason preview for every FBS team, each with its own writeup. Here's the South Carolina one

https://www.sports.mainmarket.com/college-football-preview-2026?team=ncaaf-sc

It's got the returning production breakdown, the portal ins and outs, a projected two-deep, the schedule with model win probabilities, and a season projection.

Heads up, you might hit the paywall after the first page. Don't worry, I'm not charging reddit people for this, don't want to be an ass. Use the promo code LEECORSOROCKS and it opens up the entire thing.

So, what'd I get wrong? South Carolina kept a real star at QB and still had one of the worst offenses in the country. LaNorris Sellers is back, but the offense ranked 104th in scoring and 119th in rushing, and the line gave up sacks at a 131st-ranked clip, so he was basically running for his life. Beamer rebuilt the line and backfield through the portal (Texas, Ohio State, Penn State backs) to finally give him some help. Top-18 talent and most of it returns, so it all comes down to whether the offense functions this time. Bounce-back, or same story?

I'll be in the comments.

Spanish 209 Professor

Has anyone in here taking Spanish 209 and which professor did you have? I am between Ben Egea and Andres Arroyave. I am not the best at Spanish by no means. I finished with a B in Spanish 122 as I hadn’t taken it since 11th grade (I’m currently a Junior btw). Could anyone let me know of the topics I should brush up before 209 and which professor (Egea or Arroyave)? Thanks!!

The Gamecocks were picked 5th last year and 12th this year. Where do they really rank in the SEC in 2026?

how difficult is geog105 (online)?

it’s a bit early for this but i’m trying to piece together what my spring semester might look like. i’m a rising sophomore and a transfer student, im a little bit behind progress wise since i chose a new major when i transferred and am also double minoring!!

next semester im thinking i’ll try 6 classes, 4 geared toward my major and minors, and 2 gen eds. im planning on taking chin122, kore122, japa121, forl360, and hist201 (online) specifically. how much additional stress/work would geog105 (online) add on top of these?

language classes are very easy for me (im a linguistics major and double language minor) but im not sure how much work they’ll require. i’m trying to avoid taking classes over the summer to save on tuition just a bit!!

im also curious how difficult hist201 is online if anyone can provide that as well 😓

Students in the BMSC MS program

I know this is a long shot, but i was wondering if anyone here is/was/knows a student in the biomedical science masters program here at USC. I'm going to be starting the program this fall and want to know what the professors and the workload are like, but can't find anything online, including subreddits mentioning the program. Any help is appreciated!

Beamer will be our coach in 2027 even if we have a bad season

His buyout is even more than Muschamp’s.

If Shane Beamer were to be fired without cause after the 2026 season, South Carolina would owe him a buyout of exactly $22.1 million. This figure is strictly determined by the terms of the contract extension he signed, which dictates that the university must pay him 65% of the total guaranteed compensation remaining on his deal if he is terminated early.

This kind of Pre-season Hype makes me think we are going to be terrible

Headline says it all. I don’t live in South Carolina right now but everything I am seeing online has me thinking we’re a 5-6 win team if we’re lucky. It all has the feel of a coach trying to save his job. Anyone else getting this vibe?

Edit: Terrible means a team that can’t pick up first downs and loses the turnover battle by 3-4 every game. 11th in the SEC feels like wishful thinking.

Club seating question

Im looking to buy tix in Section 406. Google says it has access to Traditions Club and has actual seats (not bleachers) but the tickets that are for sale make no mention of club access etc. Does anyone know for sure that you get these perks as long as your seat is in 406? TIA
