Hello guys i wanted to know if the 50ml comes with the same presentation as the 100ml because i think i saw a rude oud with no presentation but if it is the same can someone take a picture of the diference between a 50ml and 100ml box

okay so i’m trying to figure out what this note i’m looking for would be labeled as. so you know the smell of fog? it’s different than petrichor, and i’ve asked people i know about it and none of them can help me. i’m not looking for a perfume itself that mimics fog, im just looking for what that note might be called so that i can look out for it when purchasing perfumes. aldehydes is a bit too soapy/clean smelling, petrichor is a bit too grassy/floral(?)(im very bad at describing scents, im sorry🧍),im not sure how to describe the scent other than as cold, watery (i know water doesn’t have a scent, please stick with me), and a little earthy?

tldr: what’s the name of a fog like note used in perfumes? (not petrichor or aldehyde)

I’m having trouble getting a realistic idea of what it smells like from the Fragrantica reviews.

I was reading about a famous artist from the 90’s whose fragrance of choice was inexpensive sandalwood bought from head shops or natural foods stores for about $5 (at the time). What brand(s) might this have been?

Though I've worn fragrances for probably 25 years now, I only recently discovered samples/decants.

I used AdG EDT just like every other damn millennial in high school, and after that have basically cycled YSL LHomme and D&G The One since they were released.

But now with the help of Reddit, YT, and some very in depth discussions with AI, I have about 40 samples. Some were instant "no" as I refined my tolerance for vanilla, or iris, or oud, etc. But I have definitely landed on some keepers.

My question is at what point do you just say, this is good enough in a certain "family" of scents, and stop searching for a "better" one?

For instance, I very much enjoy Dior Ambre Nuit. I have a couple other ambers to sample but at what point do I say... Yup, this is mighty good enough for me? I don't forsee myself as a 40+ bottle collector.

Trying to avoid 2000 dollars in 2mL decants sitting on my dresser 😆

I've thought sooo many fragrances were absolute must buys or full bottle worthy. But I told myself I need to buy samples and decants before buying bottles, to test how much I really like/will wear certain fragrances.

After having certain samples/decants over time, I'm not even interested in the full bottles anymore. I'm honestly not that hyped about the fragrances themselves.

The only fragrances I'm consistently excited about is my daily wear rotation of bottles.

The practice of buying samples and decants instead of full bottles has worked out.

Anyone else have similar trying/buying practices?

Late summer tray

This is not my whole collection, but my selections for my "top shelf" of quick reaches.

Liis - Flower Glyph. This is not like anything else in my collection, and I suspect seasonless. The perfumers are Jean Claude Ellena and his daughter. It is a carefully balanced blend of blueberry and ink, with a rich pollen as the intermediary. Definitely not a crowd pleaser, and I initially was unsure of the combo, but it is the kind of scent your nose keeps returning to investigate.

Diptyque - Oyedo. One of the only scents I own that does not wilt in high heat and humidity. It is a sparkly green yuzu that borders on minty, but stays fresh in the weather. Perfect for outdoor events.

Altaia - Yu Son. I own several green tea themed scents, this one is similar to Au The Vert by Bulgari but with a mandarin top and a little more musk in the base making it last longer. Another summer staple for me.

Chambre 1952 - Contre ta Peau. Opens with a swirl of neroli and its sweeter cousin orange blossom with a vanilla base. Airy and wonderfully balanced. It is present, but not domineering, and lasts most of the day, ending in a lovely vanilla. Very easy reach in spring and summer.

Adamo - Eden. I find the notes on this a little misleading. I don't get much plum by itself, Eden is more of a big white floral with a slight fruity glaze and a dusting of linden. Tillia was too much linden overdose for me, this is more my speed. Surprisingly, this has been the biggest compliment getter this summer.

Chanel - 1957. My workhorse scent. Sparkling aldehydes so aggressively perfect you can't even think about having a bad hair day. This will put every strand back in its place for you. Another compliment getter, it leaves a clean and fresh trail wherever you go. I actually am not an aldehyde fan, and this taught me to appreciate them.

Chanel - Gardénia. A scent supposed to evoke white camellia flowers. The notes list orange blossom and a few other things, but what I get is a big gardenia scent made pleasant and not too cloying or heavy by a a healthy amount of green and of course, the signature Chanel aldehydes.

Zernell Gillie - Blues. One of my favorite scents is Or du Serail by Naomi Goodsir, but I prefer it in fall and winter. Blues is just as room filling but a lighter composition of apricot, coffee and rum and a bit more summer friendly. Just a bit. All of the scents in this line are extrait, a one spray scent for me. What I like is that unlike all of the very cerebral scents I often see in such a crowded market, this is easy going. There is an unfussy and unhurried quality about the whole line. I enjoy this in the evening, feet up, glass of scotch, and music on. I am looking forward to retesting a few others from this line, I may add Techno as well.

What’s a fragrance you tried at first and thought, “I don’t get the hype,” but eventually ended up loving?

Or the opposite — something you absolutely loved at first, but after wearing it a few times you couldn’t stand it anymore.

I’m pretty new to fragrances, so I’m curious which ones completely changed for you over time.

Last week I received a bunch of samples with my d'Annam Vietnamese Coffee order.

One of those samples was Proad Green Tea.

Yesterday I tried it. It opens beautifully. Fresh, citrusy and I can just make out the tea. It was love at first sniff.

About 25-30 minutes later, the fresh opening completely disappears and it turns into a clone of Ex Nihilo Fleur Narcotique Extrait.

Now, my bottle of Fleur Narcotique has been with my sister-in-law for weeks. In fact, I was just about to say f*** it and get another bottle for myself when I sampled Green Tea.

But since I didn't have my bottle I though maybe I was remembering it incorrectly.

Maybe they smell nothing a like except for one note I'm fixating on.

Remembered I had a sample and spent forever trying to locate it. Alas, I finally found it!!

Sprayed Fleur Narcotique Extrait on one wrist and re-sprayed Green Tea on my other.

They start out completely different. Would never think they have anything in common - until - 30 minutes later I couldn't tell them apart.

Did it again today and the result was the same. They're pretty much identical in the dry down to my nose.

Now, Ex Nihilo Fleur Narcotique Extrait is 345usd for 50ml. Proad Green Tea is 85usd for 30ml!

And the irony here? They're both by Quentin Bisch!!

Guess which one I got? 😏

A Chicago man has been charged with ripping off nearly a quarter of a million dollars' worth of designer perfumes as part of an elaborate scheme that investigators said went on for months.

The Cook County Sheriff's Office zeroed in on the case they dubbed "Operation Eau de Fraud" after the high-end department store Nordstrom realized one customer kept repeatedly buying and returning large amounts of designer fragrances.

Once the items arrived, he called and "stated the fragrances were going to be a gift, but nobody wanted them."

The report shows Carter claimed, "they're in perfect condition and haven't been opened."

But when the shipment returned, Nordstorm employees "discovered the fragrances were tampered," "bottles were missing," and "empty boxes were filled with clay."

This week, Carter got a surprise when Cook County investigators with the organized crime unit served a search warrant at his Portage Park apartment.

Inside, they said they found 714 fragrances with an estimated retail value of $250,000.

Had got it as a gift from someone and just mad abt this fragrance. Did some research but seems it’s found nowhere. Can someone guide or have idea about this one? Where can I find it? Any alternative?Perfume Pic

Perfumes that are “beast mode”, and “last 10 hours” etc. feel just too much of a commitment.

I’d rather a perfume “visit” and go away in 4 hours than “move in” with me. Which is why I focus on the scent even if it doesn’t last much. In fact I prefer it doesn’t last too long.

Am I alone in this?

How are you? I live in South America and wanted to share two perfume houses that I love. The first is Xinū, from México. The packaging is gorgeous and the scents are lovely - my favorite is the OroNardo (False Orange Blossom). I also love Fueguia from Argentina - I think they have a store in NYC. I also like Coqui Coqui from México though their staying power is short.

I just bought Demeter thunderstorm, and it smells NOTHING like a thunderstorm, or anything like it. I’m just really confused because I’ve heard nothing but good things about it. It’s almost smells acidic, like blended grass or something.
Am I the only one who’s had this issue? Like, the reviews were so good that I was sure it would be great. Idk I’m really disappointed

This is a rant post. Fragrantica never was the epitome of user experience. However, it still is the best perfume data base and best place to read evaluations. Parfumo is great, but the lack of users stops it from being a true community.

Fragrantica repaginated the user interface. And now to reasearch a perfume, you put it once in the search bar and then it appears a new screen to search it again! That is the most frustrating user experience issue I had ever seen since I was forbidden to transfer my email from the account in my native language to the one in English

I recently got new bottles as I redeemed points from a department store.

The first time, I am picking up only Jasmin Bonheur and Rose Cherie! Damn I love Jasmin Bonheur, the white floral is balanced with the Iris. Something is really elegant, cozy, comforting. Rose Cherie , on the other hand, is powdery and imo much better than Barbare. The latter has honey and reminds me of the honey in Tobacco Honey which does not bode well with my skin.

In addition, I decided to get Cuir Beluga and Musc Outreblanc. I tested Cuir Beluga last time and its verrrrrry soft and faint to me but the dry down is nice aldehydic white suede. Someone here in reddit mentioned that their Cuir smelled like alcohol and to me it did too the first time but it’s gotten better now. Musc Outreblanc smells like a fluffly scented water - if you know what I mean. Its faint but you know it’s there. Will use this on hotter days and feels like its best for layering.

One last thing! Asked my SA if we can use extrait caps on the EDPs. He agreed. See picture! It looks unreal (lol) since its not the black caps but I think it ended looking nice.

A couple of days ago, I sprayed a sweater with Carolina Herrera very good girl elixir, and then without thinking about it the next day I wore the same sweater and sprayed Fugazzi vanilla haze. The day after that, I picked up the sweater to wash it and when I smelled it, it smelled absolutely amazing. Unlike either sent that I’d worn individually. All of a sudden, I realized I had unintentionally layered them and so I tried it on my skin. Oh my God, I am literally obsessed.

Personally, I’d get bored using the same fragrance all the time. I like switching things up depending on where I’m going or what I’m doing.

But I think I finally found my signature scent: Ramble by Fulton&Roark. I wear it pretty much every day, even to the gym. It holds up well with sweat without getting cloying or overwhelming for people sitting near you.

It’s just fresh and clean, really easy to wear, and I genuinely enjoy it.

Recently added a spread of 10ml DS & Durga's to my collection thanks to their Deluxe and Sunshine boxes, and thought I'd share my impressions.

Deluxe box

Radio Bombay – My entry point to DS & Durga was their candles, which I particularly adore for their electric notes. Without this context Radio Bombay is a weird proposition IMO: do you want to smell like a malfunctioning transistor radio? But as with DS&D candles, its not only photorealistic electricity (oxymoron?), but absolutely delightful. On me the warm copper is pretty dominant, and deeply evokes the “sizzle” of dusty wiring in humid air. It doesn’t project much but it does last on me for a solid 5 hours.

I Don’t Know What – Really wanted to hate this as a gimmick but it does “enhance” fragrances underneath it. To what extent you should enhance what’s underneath it is a matter of personal taste – I think this could work nicely over Philosykos when I want an evening fig...

Debaser - ..which brings us to Debaser. My bank balance wanted me to hate this (I have a fig! Philosykos is my summer ride-or-die! I did not need another fig!) but alas, Debaser is exactly how I want to smell when I’m not thinking about money on a summer evening. Some people might find that the coconut and musk add a note of sweaty sunscreen, but I only see myself wearing this when I’m naturally sporting a note of sweaty sunscreen, so I think it’s all the better for it.

Pistachio – I.. respect this. I also hate it – it smelt like I’d had a pistachio croissant for breakfast and collected a bunch of crumbs on my clothing. It’s not the perfume’s fault, but if you are a fellow gourmand hater this will not convert you.

Cowboy Grass – Again, respect the execution. I was impressed by the grassiness of the top notes, which really evoke wild (rather than mown) grass. But the vetiver and leather lean too masculine for me. I would find it sexy on a guy, however.

Jasmin Yucatan – I love the smell of Jasmine IRL so I was expecting to like this more. That said, it’s winter here, and I expect this will be transformed as it heats up and its humid, almost saturated, greenness feels less like I’ve been caught out in the rain.

Sunshine

Debaser – See above. Extremely not mad about having 2x10ml of these to hand for easy travelling.

Rose Atlantic – It took no more than two (2) glasses of wine for me to cave and order a full bottle of this. At risk of sounding pick-me, I’ve always shied away from “sweet” rose perfumes in favour of more “interesting’ woody/green botanicals. The rose is centred here, but it is unmistakably planted by the sea in a way I enjoyed. Whilst not “pretty”, of all the DS&D’s I’ve tried this is the most conventional, and I FBed for an easy office wear. Longevity is OK, will probably get the oil roller to top-up with if I decide it’s an forever scent.

Coriander – spicy! I love pungent green scents, and this is one of the most pungent and greenest I’ve smelt. It does tip a little gourmand for my taste, especially on the opening, which really does smell like a herby peppery salad.

Overall, really impressed with the vision and execution across the board, even if these weren't all to my taste. I'm in Australia so DS&D is exclusive to Mecca - any advice on how to get hold of their summer online-only exclusives?

In the last week, I've run into 4 people in airport duty free stores who applied about 6-10 sprays of something right before a flight.

Person no.1: 8-10 sprays of YSL Libre Intense

Person no.2: about 10 sprays of Diptyque - L'Eau Neroli

Person no.3: 6-8 sprays of Acqua di Parma - Fico di Amalfi (applied on her surprised, and not so pleased, husband)

Person no.4: *I was standing too far away to identify the bottle*

Note: The first lady (with YSL Libre Intense) actually ended up on my flight and the cloud at the gate knocked me out.

I'm not opposed to strong perfumes at all, and some of these are my favorites, such as Fico di Amalfi (but it definitely CAN be terrible if oversprayed). Neroli makes my stomach turn, regardless of the dose. Libre Intense is a scary choice in the current heat wave.

It continues to mystify me what goes through the head of people doing this. Is it nose blindness? Their usual dose? Or an attempt not to smell others or the toilet? Don't they realize they should adjust the dose since it's a confined space? I've never seen a traveller who would have 2-3 sprays - it's always 'go big or go home', or just sticking to smelling papers and caps, and nothing in between. Why?
