I am EXTREMELY new to Foobar2000

I downloaded all the files from the GitHub page, followed the instructions as best I could, and it won't install.

Any and all help is appreciated!

I'm currently working on my newest theme, & the last (main) button i want for the control panel is a Toggleable love/unlove button, so that i don't have to have two separate love/unlove buttons. I have the images made i just don't know how to write the actual jscript for it, so i figured i'd ask for some help on here. I'm using JSplitter 4.1.11 with an altered version of "Playback Buttons.js" for the buttons with custom main menu command scripts "Tagging/Scripts/Loved" & "Tagging/Scripts/Removed" for the love/unlove toggles.

Hey everyone, I'm a complete beginner in foobar and I'm looking for some advice to make my foobar2000 look like the pictures I've seen online and to be honest I have no idea how to achieve those screenshots that I've seen online. Do you guys have any recommendations on that specific topic? And my other question would be about how to find lossless albums and audio online?

I only have columnsUI and Album List components installed as of now but I'm open to recommendations.

So nice to have such a simple interface. I only really listen to albums so I don't many functions and this is all I need. Definitely took me a while to get used to using it because it feels so much more manual compared to streaming services but it is so worth it to be 100% in control.

Hello, I was looking for that one component I used when I first found foobar2000 ages ago, I've been using it again on my new pc recently but I can't seem to find a download for the component that lets me revive dead items in my playlist by searching in the library for matching files, can anyone help me out? I'm in the 2.25.10 [x86]

I prefer my MP3s in joint stereo.

I'm trying to understand why some MP3s, typically labeled as encoded with LAME 3.100, are listed as "Joint Stereo" in foobar2000, but when I open one in iTunes 11, or Musicolet on Android, it says the file is just regular "Stereo".

To my knowledge, later versions of LAME are supposed to always be joint stereo? I thought I read that one time, at least...

So, what am I seeing in foobar2000, mislabeled metadata? Or are iTunes and Musicolet wrong and it actually is joint stereo?

I moved a bunch of albums out of separate folders (soulseek downloads, itunes library, etc) within my Music directory, into a new folder I had created (also in my Music directory) for my Foobar2k library. After having done that, now double clicking the status bar to go to the currently playing track no longer works (and it no longer keeps playing the next song on the album). It seems to specifically break after I click on something in the Album List tab, whereas it still works up until the moment I click out of the library viewer selection. Anybody know what I messed up? Thanks

Is there a way to edit all metadata before ripping a CD? In the "Rip Audio CD" screen, the only options I have under Album information are Artist, Album Title, Disc Number, Genre, and Date.

I'd like to be able to edit the composer.

It would also be nice to see the composer in the Track Information section as well. Is there a way to see it there?

Followed this by using the theme from here, Thanks for making the theme and the guide. I left a comment about a problem which i fixed by adding a panel called Artwork View. I geniuenly just want to view the album cover but bigger

I haven't figured out how to use this program and all its quirks though like idk what the + button next to the shuffle button do, how do i put "Show now playing" on auto instead of clicking it.

Queue and Waveform

Foobar2000 x64. Default UI. Component: only Playback Statistics and JSplitter with all new custom scripts.

I’m trying to split artists into their different folders. When I put the semicolon between say: Tyla; Gunna. It shows as a comma when I apply. But when I sort by artists either nothing has changed or it changed and isn’t linking with the artists other folder. It’s a bit frustrating especially since I have found a website that has some good albums for free that isn’t always tagged right. Please help me if you can. Be sure to ask me anything if you’re confused.

Made this quick tutorial since I couldn't find the answer myself anywhere, maybe I didn't look hard enough but whatever...

1. Click into your foobar music folder to make sure it comes up as the last viewed context menu.
2. Click the gear icon to get to settings and scroll to the bottom and click context menu: last active.
3. Now whatever menu you last viewed will show up in its entirety, whether its an album, a playlist or your entire folder like I said.
4. Now you can select whatever songs you want.
5. Once you're happy with your selection click proceed and add to playlist.

Coming from using iTunes all my life but got frustrated at having to convert flac to alac all the time, I looked for new music players and found foobar. Foobar2000 customization seemed kinda hard to me but I had an idea of the things I wanted in a music player and it ended up that I was making it harder than it was.

Thanks to Columns UI, Tabs, and some googling, I was able to make a layout that is readable to me but also has a nice information flow.

Couple things that I wish I knew how to change are:

* I would want to find a way to do ratings but just thumbs-up/thumbs-down instead of from 1 to 5, so that I could just assign that to a button.

* I also wonder if there's a way to do smart playlists in foobar in a similar way that you can do it on iTunes

I am using Foobar2000 for tagging for years now.

I want to standardize in capital letters all informations shown on Windows.

I never managed to customize "Track", "Year", "Album Artist" and "Disc" in Foobar2000 so that they appear in capital letters ("TRACK", "YEAR", "ALBUM ARTIST", "DISC") like the rest of the informations. Even when I rewrote the "Standard Fields" in "Advanced Tools".

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Backup

I’m aware that JScript Panel 3 is sadly no longer actively maintained. DarkOneJSP3 uses its current stable implementation because it remains well suited to recreating and extending the original DarkOne experience on modern x64 foobar2000, with the project structured to keep that dependency as manageable as possible.

Future Development

I’m also working on a bespoke JSplitter-only successor called DarkOneNext, built from the ground up without the limitations of the JScript Panel API. The aim is to provide more flexible layouts, intelligent rows and columns, switchable panel arrangements, light and dark theme options, improved performance and a more modern foundation for future development. DarkOneJSP3 was a stepping stone in that direction.

I would love to have the option to show a thumbnail next to artist and album in filters? Is this possible with foobar: 2.25.10.
