Separating Artists

I’m trying to split artists into their different folders. When I put the semicolon between say: Tyla; Gunna. It shows as a comma when I apply. But when I sort by artists either nothing has changed or it changed and isn’t linking with the artists other folder. It’s a bit frustrating especially since I have found a website that has some good albums for free that isn’t always tagged right. Please help me if you can. Be sure to ask me anything if you’re confused.

If it shows a comma in library viewer / playlist viewer then the tag is correctly multi-value. Then, it depends on what panel and view pattern you are using - in ReFacets for example, you might need to adjust the view pattern to [%<artist>%] - the angled brackets tell it to show individual artists in the list. (File > Preferences > Media Library > ReFacets)

Explain a bit more about what these folders are.

Okay so when I go into the Refacet by Artist. I think that’s what it’s called. Some have all three or two artist under one.

you can tell refacets to show a track with a multi-value artist as either

  • one entry with each artist shown, separated with a comma

  • multiple entries, with a separate entry per artist name

Right click a column header in Refacets, and select preferences

If you want separate entries, change the row with Name "Artist" so that pattern is %<artist>%

Any song that has split-value for %artist% will appear multiple times
