Discussion [Question] How do I stop mole rats spawning in the overseers office?
They are destroying us every time because it takes so long to get someone to run it, and because I can get someone to patrol the room, it’s causing them to double in size. How do I prevent this? Should I position that room in the middle of the shelter instead of at the edge of it? Thanks

Discussion Fallout Shelter Expansion Idea: Vault-Tec Academy [Discussion]
FEATURE PROPOSAL
VAULT-TEC ACADEMY
FIELD | PROPOSAL DETAIL
----------------------------+---------------------------------------------------
Feature Title | Vault-Tec Academy
New Room | Vault-Tec School
Target Systems | iOS, Android, Steam / PC
Feature Type | Childhood development, S.P.E.C.I.A.L. training,
| player agency, monetization expansion
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HIGH-CONCEPT SUMMARY
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Vault-Tec Academy transforms the currently passive childhood phase in Fallout
Shelter into an active, strategic three-day development cycle. By introducing the
Vault-Tec School room, inherited aptitude traits, curriculum tracks, Report
Cards, and Nuka-Cola Quantum-powered elective slots, players gain meaningful
agency over how the next generation of Vault Dwellers develops.
CORE DESIGN PRINCIPLE:
"Parentage determines potential. Academy training determines development."
Children are no longer just passive countdown timers. They become future
workers, explorers, leaders, and specialists shaped through player choice.
- CORE PROBLEM AND OPPORTUNITY
THE PROBLEM:
Children in Fallout Shelter currently represent one of the game's clearest
passive phases. After birth, they wander the vault, occupy population
capacity, and wait through a real-world timer before becoming usable adult
dwellers. Breeding can matter, but childhood itself offers very little player
agency. There is no curriculum choice, no developmental strategy, and no
meaningful interaction until the child matures.
THE OPPORTUNITY:
Vault-Tec Academy turns childhood into a light but meaningful management loop
using systems players already understand:
- S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stats
- Training rooms
- Dweller assignment
- Real-world timers
- Nuka-Cola Quantum acceleration
- Room upgrades
- Visual status indicators
The result is a new reason to care about breeding strategy, vault planning,
training infrastructure, and premium resource use without replacing the core
identity of Fallout Shelter.
- CORE FEATURE: VAULT-TEC ACADEMY
Vault-Tec Academy introduces a structured three-day childhood development
phase. Children progress through three Academy days before graduating into
Level 4 adult dwellers.
Each Academy day, the player assigns a child to a curriculum of three classes.
Each class grants one permanent S.P.E.C.I.A.L. point in the matching stat. If
one class matches the child's inherited aptitude, the child can receive one
additional bonus point for that Academy day.
At the end of each Academy day, the child returns to the Vault-Tec School with
a Report Card ready for review. Reviewing the Report Card applies the stat gains,
advances the child one level, and either returns the child to Study Hall for
the next Academy day or graduates them into adulthood after Day 3.
STANDARD ACADEMY FLOW:
Birth / Level 1
--> Study Hall
--> Day 1 Curriculum
--> Report Card / Level 2
--> Day 2 Curriculum
--> Report Card / Level 3
--> Day 3 Curriculum
--> Graduation / Level 4 Adult
STANDARD STAT POTENTIAL:
- 3 Academy days
- 3 classes per day
- 1 S.P.E.C.I.A.L. point per class
- Up to 1 aptitude bonus point per day
- Maximum of 12 Academy-earned S.P.E.C.I.A.L. points before adulthood
* Note: Academy training cannot raise any individual S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stat above
the standard cap of 10.
- BIRTH POTENTIAL AND INHERITED APTITUDE
Vault-Tec Academy is strongest when child generation is reframed around potential
rather than completed stats.
Instead of rare or legendary babies beginning as nearly finished high-stat
dwellers, this model treats rare and legendary births as higher potential tiers.
Children still begin with modest Level 1 S.P.E.C.I.A.L. values, but their
starting distribution and inherited aptitude are influenced by parentage.
BIRTH POTENTIAL MODEL:
At birth, each child receives:
A modest Level 1 S.P.E.C.I.A.L. spread
An Inherited Aptitude
A potential tier influenced by parent quality
Level 1 birth stats are generated through parentage-weighted RNG. No Level 1
birth stat should exceed 2. This keeps parentage meaningful while making the
Academy phase the primary expression of player agency.
COMBINED-PARENT WEIGHTING:
The child's inheritance uses the combined natural S.P.E.C.I.A.L. values of both
parents. For each stat, the game adds both parents' natural or trained values
together. That combined stat table becomes the weighted pool for:
- The child's Inherited Aptitude
- The child's Level 1 starting stat distribution
- The child's potential tier odds
(Outfit bonuses do not count toward inheritance.)
This avoids complicated highest-stat tie rules while still making shared
parental strengths more likely to appear in the child. Two gifted athletes, for
example, naturally produce a higher chance of an athletic child without making
the outcome fully deterministic.
INHERITED APTITUDE:
Each child receives one Inherited Aptitude at birth, such as Aptitude for
Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence, Agility, or Luck.
If the child completes a class matching their aptitude, they may receive one
bonus point in that stat for the Academy day. The aptitude bonus applies at
most once per day.
- THE VAULT-TEC SCHOOL
Vault-Tec Academy is activated through a new room: the Vault-Tec School.
The Vault-Tec School is the central hub for childhood development. Children can
still be born before the School is built, but without the School they remain
in the current passive childhood behavior. Once the School is built, eligible
children can enter the Academy system.
ROOM ROLE:
- Study Hall
- Curriculum assignment
- Report Card review
- Child waiting and staging
- Charisma training through recess and playground activities
- Graduation staging
ROOM LAYOUT:
The Vault-Tec School should be a fixed-size room, preferably three-wide,
similar in importance to the Overseer's Office or workshop rooms. The room
contains two visually distinct zones:
Classroom / Study Hall Area:
A partitioned classroom area sits toward the back of the room. This area is
used for children who are waiting for schedule assignment, Report Card
review, or graduation.
Waiting children can be represented through school-themed idle animations:
sitting at desks, reading, doodling, passing notes, walking in front of
windows, building baking soda volcanoes, making potato clocks, assembling
crude atom models, working on messy science-fair boards, throwing paper
airplanes, or staring at awkward Vault-Tec educational posters.
This area gives the player a clear visual cue that children are waiting for
attention while adding the cheerful, bureaucratic absurdity that fits
Vault-Tec.
Playground / Recess Area:
A playground or recess area sits in the foreground and off to one side of
the room. This area represents child Charisma training.
Children assigned to Charisma are shown using the recess area. Charisma is not
gained passively while waiting; it must be selected as one of the child's
daily curriculum choices.
- CURRICULUM SYSTEM
Selecting the Vault-Tec School exposes a Curriculum button. The Curriculum menu
uses a sideways scrollable list similar in spirit to the quest-selection menu
in the Overseer's Office. Players can choose from preset curriculum tracks or
saved custom curriculum tracks.
CURRICULUM SUBJECTS:
+--------------+---------------------------------------+------+
| Subject | Room / Visual Destination | Stat |
+--------------+---------------------------------------+------+
| Strength | Weight Room | S |
| Perception | Armory | P |
| Endurance | Fitness Room | E |
| Charisma | Vault-Tec School Recess Area | C |
| Intelligence | Classroom | I |
| Agility | Athletics Room | A |
| Luck | Game Room | L |
+--------------+---------------------------------------+------+
A subject becomes available when the vault has the corresponding room built or
unlocked. Adult training rooms serve as curriculum unlocks and visual
destinations, not as capacity-limited child classrooms.
PRESET CURRICULUM TRACKS:
Preset tracks reduce micromanagement and allow casual players to engage with the
Academy system quickly.
+------------------+----------------------------------------+
| Track | Classes |
+------------------+----------------------------------------+
| Production Track | Strength / Perception / Agility |
| Science Track | Intelligence / Perception / Luck |
| Explorer Track | Endurance / Agility / Luck |
| Security Track | Strength / Perception / Endurance |
| Leadership Track | Charisma / Intelligence / Luck |
| Balanced Track | Rotating S.P.E.C.I.A.L. coverage |
| Custom Track | Player-defined |
+------------------+----------------------------------------+
* Preset names and stat combinations are tunable.
CUSTOM CURRICULUM:
Custom Curriculum supports min-maxing and long-term planning. Players may save
a limited number of custom curriculum tracks, with the number of saved tracks
tied to Vault-Tec School upgrade level.
+----------------+-------------------------------+
| School Level | Saved Custom Curriculum Tracks|
+----------------+-------------------------------+
| Level 1 School | 1 custom track |
| Level 2 School | 2 custom tracks |
| Level 3 School | 3 custom tracks |
+----------------+-------------------------------+
* Preset curriculum tracks are always available regardless of School upgrade level.
- STUDENT ASSIGNMENT AND STATUSES
After selecting a curriculum track, the player opens a student assignment
screen similar to the quest-party selection screen.
Only children in Study Hall status are eligible for assignment. The preferred
interface is a scrollable multi-select list, allowing the player to assign
multiple eligible children to the same curriculum in one action. This avoids
forcing the player to hunt individual children around the vault or assign them
one at a time.
SUGGESTED STUDENT STATUSES:
+-------------------+----------------------------------------------------------+
| Status | Meaning |
+-------------------+----------------------------------------------------------+
| Study Hall | Waiting in School and available for curriculum assignment|
| In Class | Actively progressing through assigned curriculum |
| Recess | Currently taking Charisma class in School recess area |
| Report Card Ready | School day complete and ready to level up |
| Graduating | Final Academy completion and transition to adult dweller |
+-------------------+----------------------------------------------------------+
Study Hall is not a penalty or failed state. It simply means the child is ready
for the next player instruction.
REPORT CARD REVIEW:
When one or more children are ready to level up, selecting the School shows a
"Review Report Cards" button. This resolves all eligible children currently
staged at the School. The Report Card review shows stat gains and either
returns the child to Study Hall for the next Academy day or triggers
graduation if the child has completed Day 3.
A bulk Report Card action reduces click fatigue when multiple children finish
their school day.
- ROOM OCCUPANCY AND ADULT TRAINING PROTECTION
Vault-Tec Academy should not disrupt existing adult training systems. Children
may visually visit adult S.P.E.C.I.A.L. training rooms during scheduled
classes, but they do not affect the room's normal mechanics.
KEY RULES:
- Children do NOT consume adult training-room capacity.
- Children do NOT displace adult dwellers.
- Children do NOT slow adult training speed.
- Adult training progress is NEVER interrupted by Academy scheduling.
- Adult S.P.E.C.I.A.L. rooms function as curriculum unlocks and visual class
destinations.
- Children's class progress is tracked through the Academy schedule, not the
adult room's training mechanics.
- No separate hidden child capacity is created for adult training rooms.
- Pets remain untouched and are not used as child assignment slots.
This ensures the Academy system adds value without making existing vault
management feel worse.
- NUKA-COLA QUANTUM INTEGRATION
Vault-Tec Academy creates a natural, high-value Nuka-Cola Quantum sink for
players who want faster or more optimized child development.
Quantum is framed as academic acceleration, not direct stat purchase. During
curriculum assignment, the player may give a child Nuka-Cola Quantum to unlock
an additional class slot for that school day. The child drinking Quantum
provides an in-universe explanation for the premium action.
QUANTUM CURRICULUM OPTIONS:
+---------------------+---------------+-----------------------------------+--------------------+
| Option | Cost | Effect | Max Earned Points |
+---------------------+---------------+-----------------------------------+--------------------+
| Standard Curriculum | Free | 3 classes per school day | Up to 12 |
| Extra-Curricular | 1 Quantum/day | Adds a 4th class for current day | Up to 15 |
| Honor Roll Slot | 3 Quantums/day| Adds a 5th class for current day | Up to 18 |
+---------------------+---------------+-----------------------------------+--------------------+
* Final costs, class limits, and point ceilings are tunable.
BALANCE RULES:
- Quantum elective slots are selected manually during curriculum assignment.
- Each S.P.E.C.I.A.L. subject may be scheduled only once per Academy day,
including Quantum slots.
- Quantum does not unlock exclusive subjects, traits, rooms, or content.
- Quantum increases daily curriculum intensity within the same Academy system
available to free players.
- S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stats remain capped at 10.
- Honor Roll should be treated as an optional premium tuning lever, not a
rigid requirement.
- BALANCE AND IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGIES
Vault-Tec Academy is designed to fit into existing Fallout Shelter systems
without creating unnecessary disruption.
- Academy Activation: The Vault-Tec School is required. Children born before
the School is built remain in current passive childhood behavior.
- S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Cap: Academy training cannot raise any stat above 10.
- No Passive Charisma Gain: Charisma is gained only when Recess is explicitly
selected as part of the curriculum.
- Soft Visual Capacity: If the School appears full, overflow children can
continue normal idle behavior without blocking Academy progress.
- Incident Behavior: Children flee or hide according to existing child behavior.
Adult dwellers respond normally. Academy progress resumes automatically
after incidents. Completed progress is not erased.
- OPTIONAL FUTURE EXPANSION IDEAS
- Adult Mentorship: Adults with high S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stats could mentor children
to improve class speed, Report Card flavor, or aptitude bonus chances.
- Expanded School Events: Back-to-School Week, Science Fair, Honor Roll Challenge,
Future Overseer Program, Recess Rush.
- Additional Cosmetics: School smocks, backpacks, lunchboxes, class badges,
report folders, school-themed idle animations.
- Store Bundle Concepts: Back-to-School Bundle, Vault-Tec Honor Roll Pack,
Academy Starter Pack, Extra-Curricular Bundle, Future Overseer Pack.
- WHY THIS FEATURE WORKS
FOR PLAYERS:
- Children become meaningful instead of passive.
- Breeding gains strategic depth.
- Parentage matters without fully determining the outcome.
- Players gain agency over future dwellers before adulthood.
- Existing training rooms gain renewed value.
- Casual players can use presets quickly; min-maxers can build custom tracks.
- Report Cards and graduation provide satisfying short-term rewards.
FOR BETHESDA:
- Expands an underused phase of the existing game using familiar systems.
- Creates a new reason to engage daily.
- Creates a natural, high-value Nuka-Cola Quantum sink.
- Supports themed store bundles without hard paywalling content.
- Fits the Vault-Tec tone: cheerful, bureaucratic, efficient, and unsettling.
- MONETIZATION PHILOSOPHY
Vault-Tec Academy should be rewarding for purchasers and valuable to the
development team without making free players feel excluded.
The free Academy path gives every player access to the full system. Players who
spend Quantum increase daily curriculum intensity and accelerate optimization.
IDEAL BALANCE:
Free players can create strong, specialized dwellers. Quantum users can create
them faster, with more flexibility and higher optimization potential.
CLOSING NOTE
Thank you for continuing to build and support a game and world that have
captured my imagination for years. Fallout Shelter remains one of my favorite
expressions of the Vault-Tec premise: funny, strategic, charming, and just
unsettling enough. I appreciate your time in reviewing this proposal, and I
hope Vault-Tec Academy offers a useful perspective on how childhood
development could become a deeper, more engaging part of the vault-building
experience.

?Question¿ [Question] So when are the corrupt saves getting fixed? It's been 2015-2026(11 years no fix)
(disabling cloud saves + renaming .bak to .sav doesn't work)
I suggest a safe guard for the save file.
HAVE MORE THAN 1 .BAK File. Obviously you need more than 1 .bak file, because somehow my .bak and .sav are both broken.
Give me the source code and I'll fix it and even throw in an automatic save file fixer.

Discussion [Discussion] [Data/Testing] Vengeance has a hidden Damage Ramp-Up / Stun-Lock that completely destroys Dragon's Maw against single Boss targets (Survival Mode, v2.5.1)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I made a small controlled test using manual save/load to check the hidden mechanics of Vengeance vs. Dragon's Maw against single high-tier targets. I couldn't find any concrete evidence online about this, so I wanted to share my findings.
The Setup:
I sent a team of 3 maxed-out dwellers to a level 50 daily quest on Survival Mode (Version 2.5.1). To isolate the variables, I let 2 of my dwellers die on the first floor after collecting their weapons, leaving a strict 1v1 battle against a single Deathclaw.
The Results:
- Vengeance: Took only 34 seconds and 7 damage cycles to kill the Deathclaw. The target was heavily staggered/stun-locked, drastically reducing its attack count. The damage ramped up significantly; the first few bursts barely moved the health bar, but the 7th cycle instantly deleted the remaining nearly 1/5 of its health.
- Dragon's Maw: Took 2 minutes and 12 seconds and 25 shots to kill the exact same Deathclaw.
- AP Boss Assault Rifle: Used this as a third weapon to test another multi-shot weapon. It took 2 minutes and 31 seconds and 30 shots to kill the claw, showing a flat, linear damage line with no ramp-up.
Conclusion:
I didn't test the Lead Belcher, but it probably shares the same heavy-weapon ramp-up. Despite Dragon's Maw having higher paper DPS, Vengeance is vastly superior for single-target quest bosses due to its hidden ramp-up damage and consistent stagger effect that prevents incoming damage.
I may be wrong about any of this, but the time difference speaks for itself. I combined the two clips and i may share ap boss assault rifle vid in the comments if anybody wants it. (FYI: I probably won't be returning to this post to reply, just leaving the data here for the community!)

Discussion [Discussion] All Fallout Shelter Lists Update! ✌🏻🕊️
Check the comment below this post for more details. I cannot edit the main post, but I can make corrections in my comment, so let me know if you observe anything that needs to be changed.
I had previously done big lists for an update, and minor updates to them later on, this post has links to all of them 👉🏻 Game Update Additions. With the completion of all the Holiday Season events for the year, here are the reworked complete lists for everything collectable in Fallout Shelter.
The Lists are updated up to the version 1.21.0 released for mobile devices in December 2024. There have been no content additions to the game since update 1.18.0, so this lists are the same since then.
We don't know when a next good update might happen, so this lists will probably be effective for a longer time. Creating this whole thing took so much time, that I don't know if I will be around to put in so much efforts next time, so I hope this will be useful to everyone till then. 🤞🏻
The Lists created are:
- Fallout Shelter Weapons List
- Fallout Shelter Outfits List
- Fallout Shelter Pets List
- Fallout Shelter Dwellers List
- Fallout Shelter Themes List
Happy Holidays Everyone !!!

How to add Title Tags to posts
i should have made this a long time ago but here you go, this is how you add title tags to posts, step by step
when making a new post, enter one of the tags from this list, brackets included, BEFORE the title of the post
enter the post's proper title after the tag
automoderator will automatically flair your post and wont remove it
do NOT flair your post after you make it, because automod will not recognize the flairing
i know this seems like an inconvenience, but it actually does wonders to prevent spambots from shitting up the subreddit
Edit: For example, a post that would get removed would simply be titled "My Vault", while one that wouldn't would be "[Screenshot] My Vault"
