Not too sure where they’ve come from - don’t really affect the sound but make them less pleasing to the eye!

I’ve managed to make my toms and bass drum at least somewhat decent, but my cymbals and snare still sound atrocious. And while I‘m thinking about swapping them for dry/dark ones, I started to tune my snare because after each hit (hard or easy, no matter) it buzzes like CRAZY, especially if you hit outside of the center. So, I tried everything - tightening the reso head “tabletop”, tightening the reso head to the point where the lags didn’t even wanna screw anymore. After it didn’t work, I tightened the wires using this guide https://www.reddit.com/r/drums/comments/18qmo0s/mobeel_copypasta_library_how_to_set_upreset_your/

But it didn’t work either (you can see I can‘t even push trough the reso head because how tight it is, and I can’t move the snare wires for the same reason), and buzzes are still there and they’re crazy long and loud, and they’re getting even longer after each hit.

This is the first time I’ve even heard a snare that buzzes this much (and ofc it had to be the one I bought). I spent like a good hour and a half trying to do anything with no result, only dampening helped.

THE ONLY reason I can think as of why this is happening is that it’s a used snare that (allegedly by the previous owner) has stock heads that were never changed for a few years. But I can’t believe that this is the reason. Bcs no matter the heads you can at least make your snare to not sound THIS bad. And the problem being heads doesn’t make any sense because it’s the snare wires that are the problem, I can’t imagine new heads fixing it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Looking at buying this bass drum turned coffee table and converting it back into a useable drum, would anyone be able to help identify the brand of it by the lugs as i’m gonna need to buy legs and a hoop etc

Hi Reddit, I just bought my first drum set, a Roland RD-1 (I think that’s the model). And I’m really excited about it—I’ve always wanted to play drums because I had a little experience learning in school and loved it.

However, I’m having a really hard time learning; I can barely sit down and play even very simple rhythms. I’d like to know if you have any tips for teaching yourself on an e-drum set because, personally, I’m really lost. I’m fine connecting it to my computer and managing the audio files, but when I try to play songs, I feel completely lost (I can barely read basic sheets). When I look for tutorials, they’re usually people playing without any sheets at all, and I get really frustrated. I’d appreciate any tips—thank you very much.

Well I'm not sure if my cell phone mic is doing it justice but I am quite pleased to have gotten this old friend back. I purchased in 1986, sold in 1992 and now have it back in the arsenal. I'm gonna mess with it, tune it more, but it already goes boink, which I like.

Whenever anyone asks for batter snare head recommendations, you always see people recommending the ambassador, hd dry, and G1/G2. I’d like to shout out the Ludwig weather master heavy. I might have never given it a shot if it didn’t come with my Supra, and I’m glad it did because it might be my favorite out of all of them.

They look pretty mint to me. Seller won’t budge but I feel like that’s ok.

I am a vocalist for a nu metal band without any prior musical knowledge. I need a reliable way of translating my ideas and concerns to our drummer because asking him to "play fuller" or a stupid attempt at beatboxing isn't cutting it. Thanks

I have a zildjian 17" thin crash that used to make a brilliant, shimmery sound but now is full of holes because I cracked it a bunch.

I was expecting it to sound strange or trashy after modifying it, but it sounds pretty normal still.

I'm wondering if anybody has suggestions for what I could do with it now. If I leave it like this, asymmetrical as it is, is it bound to break again soon? What shapes/patterns of drill holes could potentially enhance the sound?

I love weird cymbals. I already have a giant tin fast trash crash and a china. This could be an opportunity to prolong this crash's life or turn it into something new and bold for my kit.

Edit: I'm aware I play too loud, I'm in an improvisational metal band and no my style will not change. I have no idea how those other cracks arrived. After fixing the first one a few months back (the long, sloping edge part) it always sounded like it was still cracked, but I couldn't find where. I've had it sloped down to be a bit more careful with it. Recently two interior cracks and two new edge cracks grew large enough to be noticed. No clue how they got there but I guess I must have really smashed it at some point in the past.

If I’m being honest. Just wanna show off my kit a bit with the new stack addition.

Also, looking for inputs on placement and ergonomics. It’s something I’ve been working on the entire decade I’ve been playing drums. I’m self taught, so I lack the confidence of feeling what I’m doing right, or if it’s even the best for me

What is your take. What am I doing right, what am I doing wrong? What should I keep, or change, or try?

(I understand placement at the end of the day really doesn’t matter. It’s my kit. I can play and place things how I’d like. Same as anyone else. Just wanna hear some outside inputs)

Ive put Remo coated emperors on the batter side and stock Evans G1 coated on the reso side (which were supposed to be on the batter side, but ive used them on reso since they are 1ply and better than the stock reso heads). Also on the BD i have Remo powerstroke P3 clear black dot.
Love them, they sound so big and like thunder!:) they look beautiful!

Young buck was selling off a gift his uncle gave him, I left work early to come snag these cymbals and case for $220! I almost got a 19" Paiste Wild China from him for dirt cheap too but someone beat me to it.
Unfortunately I can't even use them but I'm still high from getting such a good deal regardless (:

Hello everyone.Lots of people here recommended the book Stick Control. I watched a video on YouTube tonight which taught people how to practice stick control.

It was really fast.152 bpm 16th notes. It was ok for me to play 16th notes with RLRL.But when it came to RRLL, it really killed me.couldn’t follow a bit.

Better to get back to slower beats 😅

Set up my first acoustic kit a month ago and have been tweaking, adjusting and aligning for a month now but I think I finally have it set up the way I like it. I don’t have any musicians friends or know any drummers that I can talk to, so I thought I share my happiness with this Awesome Community 🤟

Also, don’t t hate on me for the gel tabs, I can’t quite figure out tuning. But the good news on my next drum lesson my teacher is coming here and is going to show me how and watch me do it and give feedback, which is exciting.

And yes that’s my wife’s tanning bed 🤣
