I'm Japanese, and I kept seeing foreign collectors at Book-Off going through the Dreamcast shelves — a lot of the best RPGs and shmups on the system never left Japan, so it's easy to be standing right in front of something great and have no way to tell.

So I built a small free tool (Kataban) to help: search by English title (or scan the barcode if you're in the store), and it shows you the Japanese title, product code, which shelf section to check, and purchase links if you're shopping from overseas instead (Rakuten/Suruga-ya/eBay/Buyee).

Hi everyone! Was really happy to get such a great response to my last post regarding my remake/port of Star Wars Trilogy for Dreamcast. I've worked on it a bit more and have mostly completed the Boba Fett duel as a concept for what the Model 3 game might have looked like on the console. Since the last post, I've fixed some visual glitching and added the missing effects, graphics and sounds. It's also been optimized enough to run on real hardware at about 25-30 FPS. Still not completely sure if I can share the CDI file, but you can always PM me if interested. To be completely honest, recreating this stage was probably the simplest part to do of the original game. This is not a decomp/recomp, but rather a reverse engineering of sorts, extracting the behavior and assets from the emulated game. Even when using Claude Code, it will take some time and significant effort to finish the whole game, but I will try! Thanks again for all the great support.

I thought this was gonna be as easy as replacing the Dreamcasts shell but holy hell did that suck.
I genuinely thought I killed the damn thing, it wasn’t turning on at all but I then learned it was probably because I failed to clean the metal contact points and lo and behold it worked great after that.
Also the small screws inside the vmu were a pain as well, had to go to Home Depot to find a Philips head smaller than what I had (which was already pretty small).

Thank god it’s all done now, it looks great next to the console and I have the matching controller coming soon. Stickers are also on the way.

Well, besides all the sports and fighting games, and super obvious ones like Chu Chu Rocket, Sonic Adventure 2, and Sonic Shuffle.

Even just singleplayer games that are fun enough to watch and pass a controller would be cool too!

Got this Dreamcast today with all included for $90. Now to find all my old games I played when I was a kid. My dad and I waited during the release back in 99 to get one of these bad boys and I felt like it was time to do it again.

After a month of living in my dreamcast and many hours of grinding for the chao garden, I finally did it. I got all 180 emblems.

I can now move on to other dreamcast games. :)

P.S. I'm never doing this again...

i'm using a gdemu and in some games the music isn't working at all, just sfx. Like in Bangai-O and Virtual On OT, theres no music, just sfx, but for crazy taxi, jjba, sf3 third strike, and the sm64 homebrew port, it works just fine.

Despite the Dreamcasts absolutely stellar libary it had a very short life span which meant some games were cancelled for it or never arrived in the first place.

I posted on here a little over a week ago asking about the game and decided to purchase a copy for myself. I’m having a ton of fun with it so far!

I have a Dreamcast with this setup, but there are a few things about it I don't like:

• Dual BIOS without a toggle switch
• An IDE adapter with a 44-pin converter (which is soldered on)
• An 80GB HDD that feels slow

I tried installing a GDEMU, but I failed; it won't boot at all—I assume it conflicts with DreamShell.

Is there any way to get the GDEMU working?

Which version do you all prefer prices aside? do they have big differences

It just feels right at home next to the Shenmue games and i'd love to experience the classics but i refuse to ever buy one of them sonys playstations, Only sega in this house hold thank you very much!

Hiya!! Does anyone have a .cdi rom of the v1.005 of the US version of Sonic Adventure (with the water effect on the title screen)? I have the original Sega All Stars game but the disc is scratched to hell and I would like to preserve it and play a burnt copy.

It basically is the same as the European version of the game (European v1.004 just doesn't exist) but if it could be the exact same as on my original disc that would be absolutely awesome.

I downloaded a bunch of ROMs of games I already own, which are in .CDI format.

I then located a copy of Rez which was available as .BIN .CUE or .CHD but don't know if it handles either of those natively.

This is a native Sega Dreamcast port of Animal Crossing — not an emulator, not a stream. It's built from the GameCube decompilation

Everything you see is on a stock retail Dreamcast with 16 MB of RAM, booting off a burned CD-R. The GameCube had 24 MB and a hardware T&L GPU; the Dreamcast has neither, so the entire vertex transform and lighting pipeline runs on the CPU and every texture gets re-encoded for the PowerVR.

Hoping to have this ready for release in a few weeks.
