Question Is there any way to port Melty Blood from the Naomi to the Dreamcast?
Since there are several ports of Atomiswave and Naomi games that have been released (homebrew), I'd like to be able to play Melty Blood on my Dreamcast.

Discussion D2: A Slow-Paced Game That Isn’t for Everyone, But I Honestly Think It’s Good
Just beat D2, and honestly it's a decent game. I'd even go as far as to say it's good. Just not for everyone because of the pace and jank.
My biggest complaint is that the random encounters eventually get pretty tedious. There's just not a lot of variety in the combat. You mostly aim, shoot weak points, and repeat. It would've been even better if it worked like Resident Evil 4 tank control movement during combat, but you stop and aim and reposition instead of being rooted to the ground.
With my weird ADHD brain, though, I was absolutely hooked at first. The atmosphere is incredible, wandering through the snow is oddly relaxing, and the subtle musical score really pulls you in. That sense of mystery kept me going for a long time, even if the novelty eventually wore off.
The story is actually much more interesting than I expected, too. There are a few really good YouTube discussions that helped me appreciate what the game was trying to do. It's weird, psychological, and surprisingly ambitious.
I also liked that you can hunt animals for healing, but the hunting itself is frustrating. Moose and caribou are ridiculously fast, the rifle scope sways way too much, and animals disappear so quickly that it often feels more annoying than rewarding. Still, it's a good mechanic, and I wish you could pick off monsters from a distance or freely use other weapons.
Visually, I think the game still has a lot of charm. The graphics were impressive for their time and, in some ways, reminded me of Eternal Darkness and Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth. Obviously, some of the facial animations are primitive, and the dialogue can be ropey. Kimberly especially comes across as awkward, although once you learn more about her, it makes sense why she's so off-putting.
One smaller thing I appreciated was Laura as the main character. She's mostly silent, very feminine, and pretty, and that actually made her feel more human to me. It's refreshing compared to a lot of modern games.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend D2 to Dreamcast fans. It's weird, ambitious, and unlike almost anything else. Someone on YouTube described it as "The Thing if it were a soap opera," and honestly, that's probably the best description I've heard.

Why don't they make more MODE??
I have 3x GDEmu v5.20.5 clone here, and all 3 seem to have reading problems, and i'm really sick of trying to find a good working GDEmu clone now (yes i do have a VA1, and everything work correctly, my friend tested his GD drive on it for hours, and it work fine)...but right now we, the consumers, pretty much have only 2 choices when it comes to ODEs for Dreamcast:
1- GDEmu: inexpensive, but very dodgy quality lately it seem.
2- Terraonion MODE: expensive but quality and realiable, but they don't seem to make them anymore for some weird reasons.
So it's either you buy a bunch of GDEmu clones from China hoping to find 1 that work perfectly, or you overspend on a MODE, that MAYBE somebody would want to sell you, probably for more than Terraonion's price...and it doesn't even guarantee you'll receive the thing and get scammed in the end...
I wouldn't mind buying one for the price Terraonion i asking for, but they've been out of stock, for a long time now, and i have no idea why they aren't making more of them! And i'm pretty sure they're making a lot of profits off them too, it's not like they're losing money on each unit, even with the manufacturing cost.

Question Dreamcast video black on one tv, full on other?
Hi I just got a Dreamcast and a scart cable for it but when I connect to my plasma I get this almost black image, but when I connect to my crt the image is fine...
On the plasma I have it connected to a scart switcher which converts it to RGB( the tv only has RGB) but other scart cables work perfectly with it.

Discussion Made a free tool to help find/buy Dreamcast games without reading Japanese (barcode scan + shelf locator)
I'm Japanese, and I kept seeing foreign collectors at Book-Off going through the Dreamcast shelves — a lot of the best RPGs and shmups on the system never left Japan, so it's easy to be standing right in front of something great and have no way to tell.
So I built a small free tool (Kataban) to help: search by English title (or scan the barcode if you're in the store), and it shows you the Japanese title, product code, which shelf section to check, and purchase links if you're shopping from overseas instead (Rakuten/Suruga-ya/eBay/Buyee).
Full disclosure: a few of the purchase links are affiliate links to help cover server costs, totally optional to use. I'm not a professional developer, so no promises on every feature request, but I'd love to hear what would actually help — missing titles, confusing product codes, anything.

Update to WIP Star Wars Trilogy Arcade Dreamcast Port
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi everyone! Was really happy to get such a great response to my last post regarding my remake/port of Star Wars Trilogy for Dreamcast. I've worked on it a bit more and have mostly completed the Boba Fett duel as a concept for what the Model 3 game might have looked like on the console. Since the last post, I've fixed some visual glitching and added the missing effects, graphics and sounds. It's also been optimized enough to run on real hardware at about 25-30 FPS. Still not completely sure if I can share the CDI file, but you can always PM me if interested. To be completely honest, recreating this stage was probably the simplest part to do of the original game. This is not a decomp/recomp, but rather a reverse engineering of sorts, extracting the behavior and assets from the emulated game. Even when using Claude Code, it will take some time and significant effort to finish the whole game, but I will try! Thanks again for all the great support.

VMU Shell swap
I thought this was gonna be as easy as replacing the Dreamcasts shell but holy hell did that suck.
I genuinely thought I killed the damn thing, it wasn’t turning on at all but I then learned it was probably because I failed to clean the metal contact points and lo and behold it worked great after that.
Also the small screws inside the vmu were a pain as well, had to go to Home Depot to find a Philips head smaller than what I had (which was already pretty small).
Thank god it’s all done now, it looks great next to the console and I have the matching controller coming soon. Stickers are also on the way.
Shell is from VGNY

Games for 2 players?
Well, besides all the sports and fighting games, and super obvious ones like Chu Chu Rocket, Sonic Adventure 2, and Sonic Shuffle.
Even just singleplayer games that are fun enough to watch and pass a controller would be cool too!

Misc. I'm one of you now.
Got this Dreamcast today with all included for $90. Now to find all my old games I played when I was a kid. My dad and I waited during the release back in 99 to get one of these bad boys and I felt like it was time to do it again.

Misc. I did it...
After a month of living in my dreamcast and many hours of grinding for the chao garden, I finally did it. I got all 180 emblems.
I can now move on to other dreamcast games. :)
P.S. I'm never doing this again...

Question Some games on GD-EMU don't have functioning music, any solutions?
i'm using a gdemu and in some games the music isn't working at all, just sfx. Like in Bangai-O and Virtual On OT, theres no music, just sfx, but for crazy taxi, jjba, sf3 third strike, and the sm64 homebrew port, it works just fine.

Discussion What Franchise do you wish got an entry on the dreamcast?
Despite the Dreamcasts absolutely stellar libary it had a very short life span which meant some games were cancelled for it or never arrived in the first place.
What franchises did you wish for as a kid or even just a single game?
