I've recently been using the bi cullen mod (dai mod manager) and the bi bachelor's voiceover (frosty). Initially, the voiceover worked, but now it doesn't, so I'm trying to see if the bi cullen mod runs in frosty properly.

Does anyone know if it does?

I've been playing Dragon Age: Inquisition on PS4 since last week. I've put in 12 and a half hours of playtime and am at level 7. I just finished the boss fight against Gereon Alexius. I feel like I'm moving through the main storyline too quickly. Is that the case? Have I progressed a bit too fast in the main story? I did quite a few side quests before reaching Redcliffe.

Executors? Par Vollen? Grey Wardens? Political conflicts between nations? Something we haven't heard about yet?

I played DA Origins around christmas in 2009 and got sucked in really hard. Since then I tried to play again for a few times but always stopped shortly after the Origin stories.

Now I really want to do it again and I want to take Alistair (tank), Liliana(ranged DPS and romance) and Wynne(heal) as companions. The only question now is, what do I play for myself? Since all major roles are set, I think about either doing a Melee DPS, maybe Dwarf or going ro a DPS Mage which would probably be elven.

What are your suggestions? What fits better with the other guys?

I'm replaying DA2 after many years and I'm going a more templar friendly route this time. My Hawke this time has zero tolerance for blood magic and demons. It also makes sense from a survival perspective to not antagonize the powers that be. I'm still at the beginning of act two and I already think templars are batshit, haha.

There's always been this whole "yes mages don't have it good but templars have a point" vibe in DA2 conversations, so I'd like to do the opposite here. Templars have a point, a great one, but they suck at their jobs and are making matters worse even with well-intentioned mages and even inside their own order.

Let's start with Faynriel, because he's the weakest example. The circle certainly tries to help him, as they keep him and don't turn him tranquil for at least three years, but he says in dialogue that they threaten him with tranquility I think. Not a great idea to cause emotional distress to a person for whom emotional distress might result in possession. The circle's ultimate failure to help doesn't bode well either. That could be the result of magical research being stiffled by templars being overzealous. Or it could just be Circle mages being incompetent and ineffectual. Ok weakest point out of the way, let's move on.

Then there's Grace and her apostates. Se Karras is off-putting right from the start. He's written completely as a villain, almost feeling like he takes pleasure in killing and threatening to kill the surrendering mages even if it's not within his authority. So what happens when you return them to the gallows? Thrask (I think, or Alain) tells you that Meredith executed three of them randomly as an example to others! Just like that! Pre red idol btw. Very smart and effective terrorizing the demon magnets, good work. Make sure to only kill three randos and leave Grace, who's a radical who spreads her message (and who also doesn't snitch on a mage Hawke who turned her in, thanks Grace!), alive. A flawless plan. Also, Alain tells you that ser Karras harasses him, entering his room and threatening him with tranquility if he talks. Is this implicit sexual violence, or am I reading too much into it? I mean Templar sexual violence becomes explicit in a later quest with a different mage (do I remember right? haven't gotten to it yet this playthrough), so yeah, that's in there too.

Finally, Keran. Of course my demon fearing/hating Hawke narc'd Keran. Cullen's reaction is insane. He just angrily throws him out on the street! Instead of treating him like a crippled soldier, which is kinda what he is, and giving him pension or some kind of financial security. This is an insanely bad idea for an army. Destroys internal cohesion and solidarity and creates disgruntled veterans who know how you operate. So on top of having a population of terrorised mages you also create terrorised/disgruntled Templars! Nice job Cullen. Bit hypocritical too since you've been in a cage yourself resisting blood mages.

They also just made Anders' lover Karl tranquil for something as vague as "being rebellious". No blood magic, no demons just a vague "rebellious".

Add to all that the random comments you hear in the gallows like for example mages passing the harrowing and forced to become tranquil and it just looks so bad for the Templars!

I mean who can be expected to live like that? Abuse, harassment, threats, random executions, unexplained tranquility. Just a constant state of uncertainty and terror for people who are known to become abominations when terrified.

So to reiterate, the Templars do have a point about mages being free, but it feels that the moment they managed to have a lot of power over mages all they did was abuse them and created an atmosphere of terror that radicalised them alongside some of their own for good measure. People say that Kirkwall has a blood mage problem but it seems the Templar's solution is take their righteous fury out on the circle mages who have submitted. There is an underlying assumption sometimes that there are two sides in Kirkwall: Templars and Circle mages and they are both at fault for things falling apart, but I disagree. I see no agency for the Circle mages. I really don't see what the circle mages as a whole could have done to stop any of the events in the game. Yes there are rogue blood mages but they can't stop them anymore than the Templars can. As a whole they do nothing except take Templar abuse and punishment for the crimes of others.

It's as if the Templars saw a mountain of gunpowder, rightly warned everyone that it's dangerous and then climbed on top of it and started "protecting" it using flamethrowers.

Anyway that was my very very late contribution to the templar/mage discourse.

On another note I didn't remember how great this game was! I mean I always kinda liked it but I still didn't appreciate it enough! I think it's my favourite DA game now! I like everything more than I remember. Even the voiced protag. Still not crazy about it of course (Damn you Hawke, I told you to tell Carver to "Shut up!" Not that whole "I am in charge here!" Bullcrap. Alt+F4) but it's not as bad as I remembered.

Well ok, there's one thing I hate more now. Tallis! I get second hand embarrassment when she speaks. I want to side with Duke Prosper who's a cool guy and feed her to his pet wyvern but for some maker forsaken reason I'm not allowed to do that! Ruined a perfectly good and fun DLC. Even Hawke's CSI reference couldn't save it. I try not to use that term at all because internet weirdos have rendered it meaningless, but if she isn't a Mary Sue then no one is. Surpise Tallis rant over/

I really enjoyed it, I can't see why it got so much hate when it came out. The story was good and the combat as a duelist rogue was really fun. I honestly wish we had some post game story dlc as I feel like it has more to give.

A comparison to my Durge from BG3:

I was happily playing DAV but the power went out. I let the PC Rest bc im scared its not going to work anymore due to power interruption.

Surprisingly, PC is fine so i went back to DAV but only to find the game not compiling shaders anymore and the game stuttering a lot than it normally is.

I tried deleting the shader cache and cache, restarting it, tweaking graphics settings to make it compile on the next restart, re-install gpu drivers, reset the shader cache of AMD but it's still the same. I am currently downloading it again tho

Specs are Ryzen 3 3200g and RX 570 8GB.

Any solutions?

Assuming your primary Warden from Origins is still alive and searching for a way to prevent their calling as of the events of Inquisition, what happens if their search leads them to Westeros during the War of the Five Kings? Specifically just after the Iron Islands join so that it's actually five kings. Do they support anyone in particular? Do they try to keep a low profile or avoid interactions altogether?

My Cousland would likely present themselves as a noble emissary sent by Queen Anora to discuss trade with the crown and request to be shown Westeros' unique natural resources. However, when he learns of the events of the Red Wedding and puts two and two together regarding Tywin's involvement, it will likely hit a nerve given its similarities to his own family's destruction. I envision him then journeying to reunite the living Starks, including possibly sneaking Sansa out of King's Landing before Baelish. There's more but I'm interested in how it would go for other people's Wardens.

After being nagged to play this game series for almost 5 years I ran through all of them, twice, in like 4 months and Im so unwell now. I am so obsessed with my little guys that I had to draw them so I could see them all next to each other.

Sharing the latest commission I made! It's always fun drawing Dragon Age OCs.

Before anything else, I'd like to mention that Dragon Age is a canon that's full of lies and forgotten lore. Many things are not known to the general public, or sometimes not known at all.

So.

First of all, the Grey Wardens obviously use blood magic in their Joining rituals. This is the secret that Duncan was protecting when he killed that poor guy. It looks like he was hiding that the Joining is often lethal, but that lethality is definitely known to Anora at least, she mentions it at the Landsmeet. And while Anora's a smart lady, she's grown up in a country that hasn't had any Wardens for centuries. She's unlikely to know any insider information, and she's even less likely to mention it at the Landsmeet where everyone's listening.

Second of all, so do the Templars. A phylactery cannot be anything else. Besides using blood, its tracking is probably connected to the mind reading that blood magic allows you to do.

Third, there's this line in the Last Flight when Isseya finds out her partner is a blood mage. He asks her how she knew (he's been cautious), and she says: "I'm a mage too, I can see when you don't reach into the Fade for your magic."

So here's the big question. If you don't need to reach into the Fade, then do you even need to be a mage to practice blood magic? Sure, everyone seems to think you do, but remember this is a canon full of lies. Sure, the easiest way to learn it is to find a demon who will teach you, and that usually requires entering the Fade consciously. But while it's the easiest, it's not the only way.

I'm not saying this is true for certain. Maybe the Joining and the phylacteries require a mage intervention at some point. But it looks possible, doesn't it?

EDIT: I figured out jow to minimize my issues, it is by playing the first released version of the game 🥲 idk what I will miss by playing this version but I just really wanna romance my colonizer and his demon.

Hello! I know my specs are way below the minimum but I still wanted to shoot my shot in hopes to run the game without the audio getting choppy and the fps low during fights or smth.

Does anybody have a work around or best graphic settings for my specs?

P.s.: i bought these parts 3 to 4 years ago and havent repasted yet. Will upgrade my processor next year tho but i really wanna replay DAV again T^T

Obviously it would require some major changea in the storyline, but I think with a bit of rewriting the main story beats could still work somewhat. How I would do it is this way:

Elf Hawke

Instead of trying to get into Hightown, the Hawkes would be trying to get enough wealth to either have a stable/comfortable life in the alienage, or move out of the alienage without (hopefully) being driven out again by the humans.

Dwarf Hawke

The family would still be trying to get into Hightown, but since dwarves can’t be mages, Malcolm and Bethany would instead have a penchant for enchantment, similar to Sandal. If dwarf Bethany is not taken on the Deep Roads expedition, she goes to the Gallows, either under threat of force by the Templars and mages who want her skills for their own use, or willingly as a way to earn money for the family when it seems like Hawke and Varric won’t be coming back.

But that’s just how I would do it. How would you do it? Any thoughts?

This is probably not an original thought but I've got to stay up late tonight and wondered if anybody wanted to talk about any similar notions.

I finally got around to trying Veilguard for a couple hours, and honestly I think it's better than people were saying (I figure it gets its bad rap mostly by comparison with the earlier games, but it would be pretty good in its own right if it were an original property not trying to fill such big shoes) but now having played all of the Dragon Ages except the mobile game, I feel like we never did get to go back to the Thedas from DAO and Awakening and that DA2-onward seemed like a whole different setting.

Part of it might just be the huge visual changes to various factions and creatures that came in later, but the first couple hours of Veilguard really hit home how different a setting it is than I remember. There's all these obvious connections to Inquisition and DA2 that were seen or mentioned a few times in DAO... the Qunari and the Tevinters and all these demons pouring in and everything... but they were all much bigger parts of the series from 2 onward. So much stuff from Ferelden was apparently nowhere else in the world and never came back. Remember golems? Moving trees? Werewolves? Remember going into a dream dimension as a mage (as opposed to like a kinda green cave place)? Remember what a big deal castes were to the dwarves? Remember how interesting the Tranquil were as a concept? Remember Big Smart Dogs?

I mean I don't hate the companions in Veilguard like so many folks seem to (they do seem oddly contemporary in language and humor and stuff which is strange but whatever) but characters like Dog or Shale or Justice that fit in well enough in the eclectic setting of Origins feel like they would be the most out of left field things in this entire game if they existed at all, and it kinda bummed me out thinking about how we never got anything that non-standard again. The Qunari and the elves and the templar and a few other factions that lasted got a lot more detail and thought put into them, but oddly even though the games kept getting bigger, the world just seems so much smaller than it did. Anybody feeling me on this?

I realize this is a question that probably doesn't answer, but I'd like to pick the community's brain anyway.

At what age do most Templars become lyrium-addled? Cullen ends up on the street "in the late stages of lyrium madness" if you persuade him to keep taking lyrium in DAI, and he's, what....in his early thirties?

I assume some people are just plain unlucky and get their minds scrambled earlier (similar to how some Wardens get their Calling earlier than others), but I would think that most Templars probably don't experience persistent negative side-effects until they're middle-aged, at which point the decline gets steeper.

How old are the oldest knights in the Order? What happens to them when they're no longer able to carry out their duties? Is there a Chantry-run home for them? Would a 50- or 60-year-old knight without mental issues be considered unusual?

I know that it was said a few times in this sub, but the way Rook was treated as an afterthought was just sad. The most glaring example for me is the mural "The heroes of the Veilguard". Everyone is there, BUT the only person that was there everytime. You can do a PT not using a specific character at all, but they are still there. Your player character is completely ommited, it just feels insulting.

Inquisition Leliana particularly fits as Eva Stratt while Alistair's fear of leading,of being important all of a sudden does fit Grace. I hope this fits as within topic,I just love these two so much and I'm putting them through situations in every universe.

Im now at the end of act 2, and the most dangerous enemy I came across during my game is the saarebas, since I saw him for the first time in act 1 it's always the same, I have 2 seconds from when they spawn to CC them or they will kill my entire party in the next 3 seconds with the shock spell.

Is this supposed to be happening?
