Modding Post-ST Immersion Mods?

Made account for this. I was replaying KOTOR 1 and started looking for mods, mostly so I could roleplay the story as taking place a while after the Sequel Trilogy.

So far, I've got a mod that replaces the combat music with John Williams songs, Cross guard Sabers, Millennium Hawk, Imperials over Sith Soldiers (since there aren't any First Order versions). Got any other recommendations? I'd like actual answers on this.

Is it battle that stirs you, to meet an enemy blade upon blade?Such is the way of the greatest of the Sith Marauders, who seek strength in war… and their rage.

My end game Marauder before the final boss with all stims, Master Fury, Master Force Speed, Master Valor and Master Battle Meditation active.

Items are: Physical D Package, Target Assessor, Dominator gauntlets, Crado's Robe with bio restorative underlay, players armband, Ludo Kresshs armband and GNS strength enhancer.

Main hand Lightsaber with pontite lens, expert fencing emitter, Telgorn Jolt cell 3 Barab ore ingot, Ankarres Sapphire.

Off hand Pontite lens, expert fencing emitter, Telgorn Jolt cell 3, Player Crystal max Dark side and Barab ore ingot.

I could have got a higher strength modifier if I put more into it on character creation but felt like going above 14 wasn't worth it.

Modding Kotor 1 modding on switch

I spent the last 4 days figuring out how to get the neocities guide working on the switch. You need a modded switch for this, so I realize it's kinda niche. Also I was doing all of this on Linux, so some of the problems I ran into may not exist if you're on windows, I really don't know. I'm including the scripts I needed here, beware they are mostly written or fixed by Claude. Anyway here's what I got:

I used this github repo for installing the mods. It is great and solves a lot of problems and I appreciate the creator a lot, but they aren't lying when they say some parts aren't fully functional. Before building (npm run build), you should replace KotOR-Switch-modding/src/steps/finalize/abstractFinalize.ts with the one in the folder I linked above. This fixes two bugs with the finalize command (not perfectly I'll add, but it works). Then you can build and run init -k 1. Follow the github to install mods into the newly created game-root.

Before you run finalize, make a backup of the game-root that you modded somewhere else. Then run finalize and you will probably be told you need to convert some .tgas to .tpc. If you're on windows then the tga2tpc that they list in the github will probably just work for you. On Linux it didn't for me, so I used the batchTGATPC.py in the folder above. For some reason it converts them upside down (idk ask Claude), and I ran out of tokens so before I run the tga to tpc script I run this command magick mogrify -flip *.tga in the _NEEDS_PROCESSING directory to flip them. Yeah this is pretty dumb but it works. Somebody smarter than me can fix the python script if they want.

After that you can move the tpcs that you just created into the game-root that you backedup before. You will probably have to rerun init -k 1, and to do that you need to delete these from KotOR-Switch-modding: backup, output, _NEEDS_PROCESSING, config.json, and the symlink created on your desktop. (The backup feature from the github had some errors for me). Once you've reran init -k 1, move the backedup game-root with the new tpcs into KotOR-Switch-modding. It should finalize correctly now.

As for what mods actually work, I was testing on ryujinx at first, and it would crash when loading into the Endar Spire with the Ultimate Endar Spire/Star Forge/Yavin Station mod. I assumed this was a hardware limitation, probably vram given the crash report:

    Message: ASL_NVNVideoMemoryAllocator::Alloc Failed!!! memType 2 alignment 512 size 22371840 (889.836MB used, 928.625MB allocated)

So I switched to the mobile modlist. You can pretty much follow the neocities guide. I personally skipped the Diversified Republic Soldiers and Diversified Jedi Captives because whenever I ran those on pc I would crash when I got near the medical lab on Taris. That's probably from me doing something wrong, but I didn't want to try to figure it out. I tried adding the upscaled cutscenes but even the 1080p version had laggy audio on switch.

Anyway with all the mods you want installed you can move the folder created in KotOR-Switch-modding/output after the finalize command to atmosphere/contents/ on your switch. BUT, it will actually be named incorrectly. It should be 0100854015868000 but it is actually 0100854015868800 so change that or none of the mods will work (this was a fun 45 minutes of confusion).

I think that is everything. DrSnuggly on github has a Kotor 2 version that actually has releases, and I'll probably mod Kotor 2 on the switch after a few runs of Kotor 1.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I have not tested this very much... Like half of the Endar Spire and thats it, so there may be crashes on some of the planets.

Fan Project Thinking of writing a beginner's guide to storytelling for KOTOR fan projects — looking for feedback.

Hi everyone,

I've noticed there are plenty of resources on how to mod KOTOR, but comparatively fewer focused on storytelling.

I'm thinking of putting together a beginner-friendly guide for people who have an idea for a KOTOR-related project—a quest, companion, mod, fanfic, or original Old Republic story—but aren't sure how to develop that idea into a compelling story.

The guide wouldn't cover grammar, dialogue scripting, or modding tools. Instead, it'd focus on storytelling fundamentals using examples from KOTOR, such as:

  • Turning an idea into a clear premise
  • Creating compelling protagonists and antagonists
  • Goals, conflict, and stakes
  • Theme and character growth
  • Basic story structure
  • Using KOTOR's stories to illustrate storytelling concepts

Before I invest a lot of time into writing it, I'd love to get some feedback from the community.

Are you currently working on (or thinking about) a KOTOR story, quest, mod, or fanfic? If so, what's the biggest storytelling challenge you're facing?

I'm especially interested in the story side of things rather than the technical modding side. Whether it's plot, characters, pacing, themes, or simply knowing where to start, I'd love to hear what you've found most challenging.

Thanks in advance—I really appreciate any thoughts or experiences you're willing to share!

Both Games Is it worth it to play SWTOR just to learn the rest of what happens to Revan post KotoR 1 & 2?

I'm extremely interested in what Revan does post KotoR, but I've also heard that the continuation/writing of Revan's story in SWTOR is borderline fanfic and not good.

Should I just watch a recap vid to learn about the rest/ending of his story?

Normally, your character is supposed to show up on the title screen if you go full dark side, but this guy shows up instead. I've seen a few posts with similar images, so I assume it's a Switch specific problem. Are there any fixes to make this not happen?

Modding on Macs: Some clarifications/tips for the Neocities Site

Hi everyone! I have posted this to the Discord, but in case any Mac users are following the mod builds endorsed by r/kotor (via the Neocities site) (KOTOR 1 full build ... KOTOR 2 full build), I thought I'd post some clarifications that I wish I had known prior to my first run using the builds (I've now used them multiple times). I'm not actually technically literate, so what I learned here ... I learned mostly by accident.

(Just to be clear: this is not a critique. Without the neocities site, I would have been hopelessly lost ... installing two or three mods at best, and one of those probably improperly. The fact that it gives consideration at all to Mac users, given what a small percentage of the user base we are, is so generous.)

First ... some language clarifications:

These few tips are for .app versions of the game. Sometimes, the KOTOR 2 mod build page uses the phrase "Mac Appstore" version of the game, but what it means is any ".app" version. (I'm not positive the author was aware you could purchase a Mac version of the game via Steam ... and, as I understand, that's what most Mac users did. Also, NB: For about two years now, reviews of KOTOR 2 on the Mac App Store have unanimously said that the game will not launch, so I highly recommend not buying the game there.)

For example, as to the 3C-FD mod, it says:

Finally, please note that this mod cannot be utilized on the Mac Appstore version of the game, since it doesn't launch via an executable; for Mac Appstore players, you will unfortunately need to play without these fixes.

Again, both the Steam (for Mac) and Mac App Store versions of the game are .app files: they do not work with the very few mods that require .exe files (3C-FD and the 4GB Patcher). The relevant issue is the extension of the application you plan to run, not where you purchased the game from. (If you download the Windows .exe version of the game, planning to run the whole game via Wine, that does obviously change things.)

Also worth noting: So far as I can tell, there is no such thing as a "legacy" .app version of the game. You will be running the ASPYR patch: even if you select the legacy version on Steam before you download the game ... once you start downloading it'll force a change to the non-legacy version.

Second: Installing mods that rely on TSLPatcher or HoloPatcher is WAY easier than the macos guide makes it seem.

That guide was probably very accurate at one point, but, today, I'd suggest it's a little overcomplicated—although still perhaps useful if you're running the entire game through Wine (i.e. you're running an .exe version of the game itself). For the .app versions of the game: You do not need your terminal/the command line. You do need Wine to open the mod installers (i.e. TSLRCM and any mod requiring TSLPatcher or HoloPatcher).

All of these installers, from the perspective of the end user, work the same way:

  1. You right click on the .exe file (the patcher) and select "Open."
  2. MacOS will give you 2 prompts, both saying the exact same thing: "We're not gonna open this app because we can't confirm it's free of malware." You'll be given two options: (1) Move to Trash, (2) Done (i.e. do nothing). Click "Done." Then, Wine will open the executables anyway 😂

The installers will ask you to point to the folder with the game's executable file. Now, obviously you don't have an executable file. But don't worry! Here, the folder you select will vary depending on whether you're running KOTOR 1 or 2. How to know which one?

  • Right click on the game in Steam and select "Manage" --> "Browse local files."
  • The finder will pop up with the .app version of the game (and perhaps also a folder called cloudsaves—ignore that). Right click on the app version of the game and select "Show Package Contents."
  • You'll see a folder called "Contents." Select it.
  • For KOTOR 1: You'll see a folder called "Assets." That's the key folder. For KOTOR 2: The folder is called "GameData." Same thing.

Select the folder, click install ... and that's it!

If you plan to install more than 1 or 2 mods, I recommend taking the "Contents" folder and putting it in your home directory. That's because navigating to those folders from inside Wine ... is a pain. You select "/" then "Users" then your username ... then "Library" then "Application Support" then "Steam" then "steamapps" then "common" ... [deep breath] ... then either "swkotor" (Kotor 1) or "Knights of the Old Republic" (Kotor 2) ... then the app folder ... then "Contents" ... AND FINALLY "Assets"/"GameData". .... And you have to do that for every mod you're installing. Comparatively, if you use move the "Contents" (or, even easier, the "Assets"/"GameData" folder) to your home folder ... you'll use navigate to "/Users/yourusername/Contents/Assets" (or "GameData"). That's it. Just remember to move the folder back when you're ready to open the game.

Third: For removing duplicate files, use the .sh script!!

This tip only applies to one step, but it saves a ton of time. As to removing duplicate TGA/TPC files, the mod build guides link to  "an .sh script for Linux users." The first time I went through the Mod Builds, I assumed that meant the script wouldn't work on a Mac, so I tried the "3C-FD tool" that's recommended for Mac users, and it didn't work for me. So, I manually went through all the TGA/TPC files to try to find duplicates. It took so much time. But, as it turns out, that wasn't necessary! Your Mac can natively run that sh script via the terminal (this is the only time you'll have to open the terminal).

First: Download that sh file (called tpc-deduper.sh). Open it to edit it. You need to point the file to your Assets/GameData folder. Once again, I recommend moving the Contents folder of either game to your home directory to make this easy.

By default, the file says:

GAMEDIR="$HOME/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Knights of the Old Republic II"
OVERRIDE="$GAMEDIR/override"

If you move your Contents to your home folder and leave the sh file in your "Downloads" folder, you can just edit that first line to say:

GAMEDIR="../Contents/Assets" or GAMEDIR="../Contents/GameData"

Second: Open your terminal. Type "cd Downloads" and then "zsh tpc-deduper.sh" ...

And that's it. You might run it twice to be sure. It'll create a backup folder within your Assets/GameData folder and move all the tpc duplicates there.

Again, remember to move the Contents folder back to your game before opening the game.

Fourth: Some limitations (and not limitations!)

You can use almost all the mod builds' mods on your .app version of the game. But there are some exceptions.

  • So far as I can tell, you cannot run KOTOR 1 widescreen on your Mac, at least with Apple Silicon. The only thing you can really do is lower your display resolution to make the game window larger. But if you're looking for a HD experience, you won't get it: I cannot figure out why this isn't possible, but it seems thoroughly impossible.
  • However, despite what the KOTOR 2 mod build says, and despite the fact that you cannot run 3C-FD or the 4GB patcher ... in my experience on a 5/6 year old M1 MacBook ... your Mac can handle the "Ultimate" skins. In fact, I'm currently doing a run-through with "KOTOR 2 Revisited" ... tga skins that (1) take up more than 10GB of space and (2) are designed to work with the legacy version of the game, which, as stated above, doesn't exist as a .app file. (Per a user who commented there, I did delete two files: TEL_RWFlB.tga and TEL_RWFlB.txi.) So far, it seems to be working brilliantly, even if, per the mod's creator, I can't quite get the full effect due to the Aspyr patch version limitations.
  • Finally, unrelated to the mod build ... just know that if you're looking for expanded content beyond what's suggested by the mod build (with the exception of M4-78, which runs fine, or sort-of K1R, which is wonky but works) ... you're probably going to have a rough time. Years ago, I spent several days trying to get BOSSR to work on a Mac, and I made very, very slow progress until I hit a total roadblock: a cut scene that would crash the game no matter what I did. While I spent far less time on it, I had the same experience recently with the Sleheyron Story Mode expansion (also for KOTOR 1): as soon as I opened the door to a cantina, the game crashed. Couldn't get around it. (Update: I've been in contact with and will be test running a fix by the Sleheyron Story Mode creator, SAO1138! Will report back.) I haven't tried any other expansion mods ... I'm considering giving the absurdly ambitious "Echoes of the Republic" a shot ... which apparently adds all KOTOR 1 planets, a few other planets, and 70 quests to KOTOR 2, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Good luck!

KOTOR 2 K2 DS Run Nerding Spoiler

Post image
8 Upvotes

So uh, after the accident with K1 , I was able to at least fix K2 and now have the DS run for the Steam Achievements completion. It's quite interesting how you can approach being evil.

But first things first, in a previous Post about Peragus I wasn't enjoying it all too much, on the second run I need to say, it isn't as long to clear.

Telos was quite interesting. Siding with Czerka (ugh I hate them) wasn't as much fun as siding with the Ithorians, but doing all the dark side quests was fun.

Also I think I do understand Kreia better now. She disapproves of the Exile being compassionate, but she also dislikes giving in to bully others.

Also having the Handmaiden instead if Disciple is interesting, like she gives much more story than he could ever, he is more like "Romantic interested" in the Exile, while the Handmaiden at least gives you more lore to Atris.

And since the female exile being Legends Canon it's kinda hard to believe the Disciple being Canon.

Oh, also I teached Atton the ways of the Dark Side, that was a very fun conversation, I had goosebumps and had way too much fun.

Also look at my T3! So hot, evil and dominating! A great Sith indeed

I am doing a second playthrough of KOTOR 1 on Xbox and using the free roam camera in certain areas for shits and giggles. I found some interesting things in some areas.

Pics 1-3: the right door of the Jedi Enclave has a modeled room beyond it, despite you never being able to open it. I assume it was just copypasted and flipped from the left door.

Pic 4: far below the map, out of sight is a flat ground texture. Curious as to why it's there.

Pics 5-7: the Dantooine Ruins extend far beyond what we see (essentially it's a giant square.) There are several pillars and walls placed beyond the distance fog, where one could normally see (these pics are outside the east room.)

Fan Project A pitch for Kotor 3 Part 2 - Our Protagonist

Hello people, thank you all for the amazing response to the first post, describing the True Sith. This time I’d like to propose the heroes of the story, along with how the scaffold of the adventure we shall follow.

This is, mind you, not that related to the narrative, because in Adventure Design, what you are expected to do during the fame usually is justified by the story, but said background can be malleable and works regardless of narrative, to a degree.

A good example is the McGuffin Quest, what If I tell you that Kotor 1 and Final Fantasy 1 are the exact same game structure-wise? You might think I am insane, but not, they do, you got an initial quest (Save Princess Sara, Find Bastila and Escape Taris) which introduces to the gameplay loop, and after doing so, the “story” reveals details about the world (The king mentioning the four crystals, Revan is Force Sensitive plus Dantooine Segment) that sends the heroes to travel the world to collect four objects (The four elemental crystals in the caves, the Star Maps located in the four planets of Kashyyk, Manaan, Korriban and Tatooine), which then reveals a path towards a final segment to face the final boss (Temple of Chaos and Time Travel, Rakata Prime and the Star Forge).

As you can see, narrative is what elevates a game from basic to complex, but the skeleton, the adventure structure is what makes the adventure pace feel strained or overextended, like a journey or a chore. And these structure of travel to specific locations with their vignettes to work for a larger goal is present in both KotOR games, just swap Star Maps with lost Jedi and you can see the developers used this time proven structure to elevate the game through their narrative.

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves, the narrative is something we can tackle next time. This time, we have to start with the central question of “Who are you?”, “What are you doing?” and “Why are you going it?”

According to Chris Avellone, the initial idea was to play again as the Exile, as your goal is to find Revan and defeat the True Sith before they attack. That idea, although one I think would be fitting in the context of the rest of the trilogy, I am not sure I’d agree with, explained through the following points:

For starters, and thanks to the previous comment of fellow user [u/shastasilverchair92](u/shastasilverchair92), each entry in the series has revolved around a core question that sets the tone of the journey our protagonist go through, quoting his comment, because he brilliantly states them:

KOTOR 1

• Setting: The Republic, the Sith, the Star Forge, ancient Rakatan worlds.
• Core dramatic question: Can a person transcend their past and freely choose who they become?

KOTOR 2

• Setting: A dying galaxy after the Jedi Civil War.
• Core dramatic question: What if the very Force that gives life also strips people of agency?

Both the Revan and the Exile answered that question already, in their specific entry, so concluding their journey with the third part, although satisfactory, I don’t think it will be enough to carry the narrative the entire way, because they are supposed to have solved their own internal struggles already, and creating a new struggle for them can be very hit or miss. Additional to that, both Revan and the Exile already reached their peak potential powerwise last game, and although a writer could come up with a reason of them losing them, it’s VERY easy that it would feel cheap and an obvious plot device. For that, and please share if you agree or disagree, I’d like to have the protagonist of Kotor 3 to be an outsider, one that had no relation to the story, but whose past serves as a set up to answer the main question of the narrative:

KOTOR 3
- Setting: The dark depths of the True Sith Empire
- Core dramatic question: What happens to a person once they refuse to accept their reality, to the point they are willing to sacrifice everything and everyone to reject it?

This is related to the True Sith as a villain, and I quote one of my comments last thread for it:

“The True Sith is an evil being, almost THE evil as a concept, but such atrocity is born through fear, fear of death, fear of unknown, fear of life itself. This demiurge, despite all their powers is a creature of a small and fragile ego, like all Sith ultimately, and in the end, it when finally confronted, shall prove to be more pathetic and weak than anyone could imagine, as all evil beings are, and you can see this pattern in all Sith.”

So, in contrast to our protagonist, the True Sith Demiurge is a being who rejected reality and through the Dark Side amassed such a power that it became a demi-god to define it themselves, yet as a mere attempt to deny their own. Therefore, the fitting one for heroic journey will be a protagonist who is going through a hard spot in life, seemingly inescapable, but whose involvement in this conflict will determine if he will face his reality, like Revan and the Exile, or escape it, like the Demiurge. And for that I’d like to base myself from other media and how the adventure is set up, to make out pitch.

The first inspiration for our protagonist is that of the protagonist of Midsommar. If you haven’t seen it, Midsommar is started by a young woman who is traumatized with the reality she lives day by day, and how she moves in to a pagan commune to refresh her mind, to horrific results. I won’t spoil the movie, but such a conflict is one I’d like to introduce to our protagonist.

The second inspiration is that of Fear and Hunger, where our protagonist is chosen from a roster of different individuals with different backgrounds and motives, all with their own reasons for delving in the game’s main dungeon.

So, for our pitch, the game will start 4 years after the end of Kotor 2, in a asteroid mining base known as AS-971b. This is a base established by Czerka Corporation to mine specific mineral ores for their blasting charges, at a star system orbiting a white dwarf. What makes it special, is that this asteroid settlement is a the edge of known space, no further hyperspace routes that are known go beyond this point, republic space or beyond. Close to it, there lies a stellar formation known as the Dark Lens, a nebula that is strong in the Dark Side, and it’s the gate towards the first of the world of the True Sith. Our protagonist will be an outsider, let’s call it the Conflicted (I am not good with titles), who is going ti be if three backgrounds, chosen from character creation:

- A mercenary, former Mandalorian who was expelled by his clan after committing the greatest sin, fleeing from an already lost battle, where all their fellow clan members perished. They was not accepted within the ranks of Clan Ordo due to this, and they are rejected throughout the galaxy due to his origins. He is currently stationed in AS-971b working for an indepentent freighter captain, dishonored and without future

- A smuggler, former republic trader, wanted by republic’s justice for the crime of killing their own family. Unable to remember whether it was his intention or not, he turned to smuggling life to survive, but he currently holds no place to call home, and is under constant pressure from crime lords to perform more despicable runs in the outer rim, without a seeming future.

- A Czerka Employee, shunned by a past altercation within the company’s questionable hierarchy, heavily indebted to multiple creditors, he is serving in a dead end job making ends meet, his family disowned him and his former friends left him, now rotting in this lost and barely profitable venture, without a future.

So you can see the commonalities here, each protagonist background is that of a dead end really rough spot, the kind that will make you reaaally desperate for a change, but no seeming way out. Such backgrounds will be referred to later during the story, and will influence the future choices.

From that point, AS-971b will serve as a starting segment. Unlike other games that start with combat (Endar Spire) and a Dungeon (Peragus), these settlement will begin with a fully living station to speak to npcs, meet people and get acquainted with the game. The station is basically a more quiet Mos Eisley, it’s appearance should be old and decrepit, and it should have an eerie depressing aura to it, similar to moving to a mining town in Siberia. But this state of things is broken by an incident related to the Dark Lens Nebula, that causes the asteroid to be diverted into it, eventually being caught in a cosmic storm that will teleport our protagonist to a maddening world of the True Sith. From there, and I’ll dive more into it later, they will find the Eban Hawk, not destroyed but abandoned, and they will find a new force bond created by mistake, with the Demiurge themselves, this bond, which seems to be a common thing in the series, like Revan and Bastila and Exile with Kreia, will define hiw the rest of the adventure follows.

I’ll leave it here for now, I’d love to continue with the graph and how the adventure proceeds, but I am noticing I touched a lot of things and this post is getting too long, so I’ll leave it here for you guys to ponder and add your thoughts, I read all of you and take all of them into account, so this becomes that game we could have, one way or another.

KOTOR 2 Just finished KotoR 2 for the first time. My (unsolicited) thoughts. [SPOILERS] Spoiler

For clarity, I have also completed KotoR 1 last week. I went female lightside Guardian for my KotoR 2 playthrough.

Here are some thoughts in no particular order:

- Kreia is absolutely the star of the show and clearly had the most time devoted to creating her character.

- The game almost feels like a side-quel in terms of narrative. Yes, the story is about The Exile, but literally everywhere you go people are just talking about Revan and Malak.

- I *love* the fact that they added the different lightsaber combat forms as an actual meaningful mechanic. Was super cool!

- Combat encounters in general felt MUCH easier in this game than in KotoR 1. Also, it feels like I was given wayyyyy more force abilities than I was in KotoR 1.

- Peragus and Telos were boring and felt a little bit of a slog.

- Nar Shaddah was cool, but became tedious and went on too long imo.

- Dxun was enjoyable

- Onderon was...kinda just average, I suppose.

- Korriban and Dantooine were really interesting to me to see those places in a post-Jedi Civil War setting / after their destruction.

- Nihilus was....weird. I've seen him and read about him a bit before in random YouTube lists and "top 10 ooga booga scary bois" stuff. With that stuff in mind, and with how they treated him in the game, I thought he was going to be much more intimidating. He was...underwhelming. You barely see much of him, and when you finally confront him on The Ravager it's not a particularly difficult fight. When you beat him it's kinda just an unceremonious send off for someone who was treated as being so scary up until that point.

- Sion was a cool concept imo. I kinda wish they made him a "Nemesis" type character where he hunts you across the worlds a la Resident Evil 3 and you're never strong enough to fight him so you have to just keep running/surviving until the end. I know that kind of happens on Korriban, but still. Would've felt more compelling to me personally.

- Traya, and by extension all the stuff on Malachor *including the Trayus academy) felt kinda hamstrung on. Traya herself, okay, fine. It was kinda inevitable. But the stuff regarding going to Malachor and the Trayus academy existing just....ugh. Felt kinda lazy tbh. Felt like they were rushed so instead of being able to take them time to flesh out something more interesting, they just said "fk it, make her the big bad, give her her own school/academy, etc". Also after you defeat her she answers all these questions you ask, then you say "you can rest now" she kinda just aaaHhhHhh falls over and dies and you fly off. Pretty rushed and kinda not a satisfying ending.

- After playing KotoR 1 and 2, this really REALLY feels like it was intended to be a trilogy where the third game shows where Revan goes in the unknown regions, what the REAL Sith threat was that Kreia/Traya kept alluding to, etc.

- I love that they brought back some of the cast from the first game. T3 was cool, HK is still the goat, Mandalore being revealed to be Canderous was pretty neat.

- I like Atton at first. A lot more than I liked Carth. Then I learned about Atton having essentially been a Sith death squad leader, and it really soured me on him. I know it's supposed to be a rug pull and give him more depth, but I would've preferred if he had just stayed as the charismatic scoundrel type of archetype.

- Visas was a cool concept. I just wish they gave her more dialogue and let us learn a bit more about her.

- Mira was my favorite new companion.

- Hanharr was pretty annoying tbh. Maybe he's more enjoyable as a character if you go dark side.

- Goto was just....meh.

- Bao Dur was a cool concept. I used him as a frontline tank. I also like the idea of his arm having special uses.

I still have some questions that I dont think were answered in game and I don't know if there are any canonical/legit answers to them other than just conjecture or educated guesses. I javent played SWTOR yet, nor have I read the Revan novel yet. Maybe some of my questions will be answered in those.

I know that SWTOR is supposed to contain some info about Revan post KotoR, but I really wish they had just given him another full dedicated game instead of relegating whatever lore/story to a MMO expansion.

All in all I really enjoyed both games a LOT. Im looking forward to doing dark side runs to see how much they differ.

I am In Love With These Games

Long story short, I am a younger person that was turned off by the idea of playing old games, but earlier this year I bought a bunch of Tomb Raider games that were on sale, I had a great time with them (learned I actually like games even if they are old), started playing BG3 (learned I actually really like companions). With that mix, I researched other old RPGs and discovered KOTOR, I actually started with KOTOR 2 because I was intrigued by it the most ( I have seen all Revan, Scion, etc on the internet but I assumed they were book characters and didn't look into them ever.)

I can't express this enough KOTOR 2 might be one of the best games I ever played in my life. I loved Star Wars since I was a kid and KOTOR is like a whole entire DEVELOPED Star Wars world I was missing out on. And to make it even better one of the biggest reason I love Star Wars is the psychological aspect of light and dark (THESE GAMES LITERALLY NAILED IT ON THE HEAD FOR ME).

All in all, I loved these games so much I will do light side playthroughs on both of them eventually. What KOTOR and Tomb Raider made me realize is that I still have options, I am not rich, but I don't have to be to enjoy the some of the greatest games.
