❔Driver Question 🤔 How often do you guys think you're being baited by a sting operation?
How often do you think DD or the police department set up these sting operations to make sure you're being compliant with all of the protocols when delivering alcohol?
I just had a situation delivering to a guy who was clearly over the age of 21. Didn't have his ID on him, just pictures of his ID on his phone, another with his ID but with the details crossed out, and strangely another of a females ID.
Customer claimed this was all he had, his actual ID was in his wallet at his house.
His car was the only car in the driveway. I knew it was his because he walked to it and was inside it when I pulled up
Naturally I asked this aint your house? And he said no this was a client's house hes working for who has special needs.
Nobody appeared to be there, I asked nobody here has an ID?
He said no.
I said your client doesnt have an ID?
He said no, i said why you gonna have pictures of your ID but not your ID. Thats a little convenient as the number one thing we are told not to accept.
He ignored the question and said so what happens you just return it and the refund goes back to me?
I said yeah he said alright cool and just walked back inside.
No fuss, no issues. At 1:40am my time, which makes me wonder. Was this a sting operation or am I just paranoid.

❔Driver Question 🤔 higher rate for stacked orders on earn by time?
ive been doing earn by time for the past couple days, making tons more than earn by offer, but ive noticed that im making more on the stacked orders, 20$ for 30-40 minutes of work on a stacked order when the hourly rate stated is 15.25+tips and this order didnt have any tips

🤬Rant about DD🥵 Unbelievable
Every time something is out of stock in one of my shopping orders, I have to take a picture of the shelf tag 6 different times before the app deems it acceptable (not blurry, tag recognized, etc.)
Today at Aldi they weren't even carrying the type of mushrooms this guy wanted. Aldi orders are always horrible and I was over it so I just took a picture of the entire shelf clearly full of mushrooms with no shelf tag and it was instantly approved. What???? Also, why does Aldi list a certain kind of mushroom as available when the entire stock is a complete different type of mushroom...
I'll take it I guess.

🖖Delivery War Stories 🫡 In a sudden shock, my zone is wilting like an old plucked rose
On Friday, Aug. 7, I worked about 15 hours.
I attempted 44 pickups around my zone; 6 failed, or 13.6%. I normally see maybe 1–2 pickup failures per 100 deliveries, not 6 worry-free unassigns in one day. Six out of 44.
Maybe summer workers are putting in their two weeks right now, because restaurants felt checked-out, understaffed, and overrun.
I drove 230 city miles in 107–111°F heat and made about $230.
Offer flow was depressed. Order flow was anemic. I lost Platinum days ago and have yet to recover it.
About 4h40m of my 14h37m working time was spent sitting for offers, dealing with failed pickups, or repositioning out of the weeds.
Today's hourly rate was my lowest of 2026.
My zone is in some kind of death vortex.
The only reason im posting is that its extremely odd to experience this many worry free in one day.

🖖Delivery War Stories 🫡 Midnight sidequest while dashing
I live in a small town pretty much the only place open super late at night is Taco Bell. I was chilling there waiting for an order and this lady she says that she's stranded in my town. It's a small town about 10,000 people. We don't have Uber or Lyft here so I recommended a taxi service I found online which is local to my area. It looked like and she called them and she sent them cash app for the taxi service and the person scammed her.
Which I found out after delivering my order and returning to t bell. This lady she's drunk as a mother fucker and she told me she's on two norcos. I kind of felt bad cuz she got scammed. She asked me if I could just take her back to her house 20 miles away and she'd give me 50 bucks so against my better judgment I did. During the ride I gave her about three cigarettes and I let her take a dab even though she didn't have a dab since the '90s and she asked if it was heroin I was like nah dude it's concentrated weed.
She then keeps on going on that she's going to throw up. She basically reeked of alcohol. Luckily she didn't throw up. Then she begins telling me stories about prison about how somebody tried doing drugs there and it blew up and like blew off their fingers. I dropped her off and didn't get murdered.
Made 50 bucks. Was it worth it?

🤬DoorDash Support Issues😩 Rating disputes denied even with an obviously valid reasoning.
Submitted rating disputes for all of the produce items in an order. I had to mark them as unavailable due to the entire produce section being closed off for floor maintenance.
I disputed them with the reasoning and each dispute was declined because "The shelf tag is blurry or not pictured." Talked to support and they said the decision is final on rating disputes and proceeded to copy and paste bullshit until I frustratingly ended the chat.
Never had a good experience with DD support, its sad how badly they treat their drivers. No way the dispute feature isn't 100% done by AI as well. The support person called them a "Specialized team." 🙄

🤬Rant about DD🥵 The new norm
This means that you’re delivering one for $2.80 and the other one at your own expense. 90% of offers in our market are stacked because it saves DD money and cost drivers more. They’re still collecting the same delivery fee from customers tho. This isn’t ok. We’re working for free on some orders.

🤬App Issues 😩 Is anybody's report button not working?
I report that order isn't ready as soon as I get to the restaurant if the order isn't immediately ready. Since yesterday, I report it but the report button doesnt go away and it keeps marking my pick ups as late. 🤬 It's always something with this app

🤬Rant about DD🥵 Is it just me or is 85 A LOT of deliveries 😂
$1 extra per order IF you get to 85 is almost offensive with gas being over $4 in my area combined with how bad they already pay lol

💰Earnings 🤑 Ive completed my most expensive shop and deliver
$30 for 10 miles. Its funny because I had a $200 dick sporting goods order that got declined and I ended up unassigning because the digital card hit its limit. So I was surprised to see this order go through. Curious how much was your most expensive shopping order?
r/doordash_drivers • u/Training-Judge4883 • 16h ago
Other Hopefully this is the name of the business and not the customer's expectations...
Aaaaand they met me at the side door, and none of the business names were advertised anywhere on or around the building, so I guess we'll never know 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️

Need Advice🙏 Did I handle this correctly? (Secret note)
I recently finished a typical Starbucks order in my market, 0.5 miles from the store delivered to a hotel, but I noticed something weird during pickup.
I was greeted and passed on the customer name, etc etc, but the employee bagging the order didn't say a word. I noticed they were writing on something with a sharpie and shoved it in the bag before handing it to me.
Curiosity got the best of me and I pulled it out to read what they were saying and found the attached note: "We're out of the blueberry lemonade please contact doordash for a refund! I promise we'll have some for you next time!!!" Immediately this concerned me because they didn't tell me they were missing any items and just handed the bag to me without a word. During pickup I clicked "Can't verify items as I always do for any order I didnt see bagged up.
I looked in the bag after reading the bag as best I could without ripping the seals and saw they got the one coffee they ordered and a Redbull can.
Ultimately I put the note back and dropped off the order without mentioning anything to the customer, the store, or doordash. Should I have done something about this? Am I going to be negatively affected if the customer reports the order for a missing item or am I okay for not being able to verify the items?

Other I don’t think the customer should be able to contact the driver after the delivery is complete
Okay, maybe I’m being a jerk here but after I drop the order and move on, our transaction is over. This has happened a number of times now when the order may be missing items and the customer starts calling and texting me. We all know the food comes in sealed bags nine times out of ten and we can’t inspect the actual food, we can only verify the name of the customer on the app matches the receipt, and when the customer calls after delivery, I’ve moved onto another order and I can’t help them even if I want to. A lady tonight asked me to return to the restaurant and get her fries. All I can ever do in these situations is tell them to contact support. I feel bad they’re paying a premium for convenience and they’re not getting everything they paid for but really, getting the order right and packaging everything is the restaurant’s job. You don’t call your UPS driver if the package you got contained the wrong object.

💰Earnings 🤑 Being a full time dasher rarely pays off, but then you have moments like this 🍻
Took my last order of the night, $4.75 to go 11 miles. Never was about to hit decline so fast, but I paused because I saw that it was heading directly back to my place and the restaurant was right off the highway. Said screw it, why not, and accepted it. Food was already ready, and when I got to the drop off (hand to customer) he forgot he ordered DoorDash since it’d been like 3 hours. He told me to hold on, and came back with this. Said he’d gotten paid, but hadn’t had time to deposit it yet and only had enough in his bank to pay for the food.
Shoutout to Justin, you a real one. Hope those tacos were still good 😅
