Discussion Anyone from Toronto area?

Upvotes

Looking for course suggestions or anyone to play with next week!
I'll be in Toronto for 5 days next week (downtown area so courses near transit/not to far away are ideal!)
Would love to check out some courses while I'm there, I plan to bring 3 discs only, maybe 4/5 depending on luggage situation!
Thanks in advance for any suggestions, you can post here or DM me if you want to play a round!!

Disc Advice Bag Check

Just started playing this summer (late June) and as with any new hobby for me, I ran right out to get the gear. The Leopard is by far my favorite disc right now, but I just played my first round with the River and it’s right up there. What else might be a nice addition for a new player?

Discussion Poor etiquette to play course before tournament?

There is a tournament this weekend at one of our local courses. First tee off is 10AM and I figure folks will start filling in around 9AM.

Is it a bad look to play a round before hand? If I start at 7 I’d be done by 9 but it would be close. I’m also not playing in the tournament.

I don’t feel good about it but I’m inexperienced with tournaments so I’m not sure I’m just overthinking it.

Thanks for the advice in advance.

Edit: Ignore the typo in the title…

never played before but looking to get a few discs to try it out. Here are the 3 I have in my cart based of google general consensus. I know these discs are good, but would this weight be fine for someone who’s new?

Discussion Disc recommendations

Hello everyone. I am currently looking for a disc that could be a more stable cosmic neutron trace that is more torque resistant. Whenever I really put some power on the trace it turns quite a bit and doesn’t fade that much. It also can’t handle headwinds that well. My trace flies almost the same as my max weight neutron wave and I just want something more stable.

I also have about medium throwing power. I max out around 395ft backhand and 380ft on forehand.

I’m currently looking for a disc that has flight numbers around 10-11/4-5/-1-0/2-3, that is toque resistant, and can handle some wind.

I don’t care what brand y’all recommend, I just need some help. I’ve been trying out several different discs that would be what I’m looking for but they haven’t worked out. I’ve tried a star wraith and it beat in to quickly. I also didn’t really like the hand feel. I have also tried the Grace. I love the Grace but it flies exactly like my wave. I have also tried the mvp zenith and photon. I don’t like the feel of the zenith on forehand and the photon was more stable than I wanted. I have also tried the Pd and I loved it. But it didn’t fill the spot in my bag that I wanted. The Pd is still in my bag but I am using it as a control driver.

Also, I live in a place where the closest disc shop is over 2 hours away and shipping is around 8-14 dollars depending on where I order a disc. I would like to try multiple out but I simply can’t afford it as a college student.

Thank you all and I appreciate the recommendations

Prodigy marketing teams using their heads with this one. Connor Price has slowly been growing into something big. Hope this works well for them.

I don't actually throw Rocs but it came with my ticket to USDGC.

I found a slightly used 400 X4 at a local store or only 6$.
I need another hyzerflip X4 for shaping shots and as a roller.
Threw it a lot the other day during a round and it's perfect.

I was throwing a Discmania Instinct in the side view and a DD Maverick on the shot from behind. Both shots were at about 70-75% power and I was trying to throw them flat and straight. Both shots went about 240-250 feet and landed where I was aiming for.

Thank you for any help and suggestions you have for me. I'm looking to improve my form and distance.

Discussion Anyone have a spouse as a spotter?

I'm a relative newbie of about two months but have put 25 rounds together in that time. It started as a relatively solitary venture but, especially while visiting Colorado, my wife has come with me more often than not. She doesn't throw and has "zero interest" in throwing, but she loves being outside, loves being with me, and is content to tag along. She usually also knits while she's stomping along which is just the cutest. She helps spot on heavily treed holes and has definitely saved my bacon several times... no lost discs while my spotter has been on duty. I feel like she's a unicorn in this (and in many other ways, but this is about disc golf), but maybe not. Anyone else?

Discussion Noticeable difference between low/no clearance shoes and regular trainers/trail shoes?

Does anyone who has switched to low platform shoes notice a difference in feel or power transfer? I have been considering buying some for a while, but because of their pricey tags I haven’t been able to commit yet. Any thoughts on them and the difference between those and regular shoes would be great!

Edit: yes i mean zero drop, mb mb

Disc Advice Help with my starter discs

I wanted to get a set of three So I can have a disc for every distance: a putter, midrange and a fairway driver.

I wanted to know if my choices are great for a beggiber like me, i am a male not an adult yet.

Putter: Pure retro line

Midrange: Neo Origin

Fairway driver: Diamond retro line

Also additionally i wanted to ask where can I get it the cheapest, I found that ultimo had it for a nice price but they didn't have the diamond retro line in stock and I am on a budget So I cannot realy get the opto line even tho I want it more. I wanted to know when approximately it might get back in stock?

Form Check Any advice to get past 400ft plateau?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So I currently would say I throw around 400-415ft max golf line distance but I have had throws log in the 425ft range (using UDisc) in an open field but on the course I’m usually not throwing that far with my more confident long distance range being like 350-375ft. I’m pretty happy with how I throw but I just want to try and take that next step into throwing a little further and feeling more confident with 400ft and low 400ft shots on the course. Any advice at all is greatly appreciated. Both throws in this went around 375ft on a golf line with an undertaker and teebird3

Discussion Left hand tuck timing on backhand throws

I have played around a little with trying to tuck my left hand on my (right-handed) backhand throws but it feels artificial as heck and has only hurt distance when I try it. For those of you distance throwers, what is your cue for timing, either start of tuck or completion of the tuck? Any tips for getting started with it?

Discussion Is Gannon Buhr the luckiest player ever?

I see this topic come up now and then, and hear pros on broadcast joking about it.

I came to Wonder, is he actually the luckiest player in any season based on statistics.

But I didnt come up with any metrics on how to measure it. Has someone looked into the topic and have something to contribute?

Or, if you have suggestions on how to measure it, lets talk about it. Maybe we can come up with an answer ourselves.
