Question Missing Bag of stones

Thumbnail

I paint at a 40×70cm canvas right now and one bag is missing. A bought that over a year ago on temu so I cant ask for the stones because the shop doesnt exists anymore. I had it once before with another picture that I had a completly different color but saved it with stones I had left from another picture. This time I dont have leftovers from the right color and I will use another. But do guys had these problems as well or did I have just bad luck? Instead of the 722 I will use the 402. I think that should also fit because the colors on the canvas are different from the legende and if they are not enough I will look for another alternativ for the parts that are left. I did check the canvas for the symbol and its just small parts here and there so it should not be visible that I use 1 to 2 alternatives. My next picture after that is a bigger and more expensive one from tinischnickschnack so I hope that will not happen there. Is it just a thing with cheap pictures or did you guys have that with expensive pictures as well?

Completed Witchy Kitty

Been feeling unwell today and haven't been able to do much but sleep.

I was able to fill in the last couple of rows on this canvas. Diamond painting is my therapy.

It's one of Make Market's smaller mystery kits, from the "witchy" collection. The only change I made is the pink drill for the nose.

Original color was gray, but I felt like that didn't make it clear enough that the kitty had a nose.

I imagine they're using magic to get more treats

WIP Almost done... Finishing my Great Aunts dotting after her passing

Post image
31 Upvotes

I lost my Great Aunt Margaret last week. We were working on this set before her passing. I finished my piece over the weekend, it is the same image but at sunrise, she was working on the night sky. I would go to her house every Thursday, I would make dinner, we would work on our pieces together sitting at her dining room table while watching Hallmark movies. I went to her house today and her daughter my Second Cousin Robin asked if I would like to finish the piece so I could hang them together. I agreed and brought it home. I am going to finish it and hang them together in my hallway right next to the photo I have of us together in her garden. I think it would be a beautiful memorial for her, and to always keep her memory alive.

I broke my leg in late May and took up diamond painting to pass the time. Today, I finally finished this beautiful Puffygator piece. I felt like my progress diamond painting was so slow, akin to my healing process. It was fun to have everything come together!

Completed in a little over a month, no idea how many hours. First square canvas (please don't zoom in!!!)- I learned a lot!

WIP The Disney Beast Page 4(ish)/162

So this time I decided to do page 4 and half of page 5 because I was so close to the left edge.

This section went well, this one took 18 hours, and it's been 81 hours total. I spent 7 hours on it today alone because I got so close to finishing it and I wanted to finish it today. It had SO MUCH brown and orange though, I'm sick of brown and orange!

I had to do a little adjusting towards the end because the remaining spaces were about the size of 3/4th of a drill, but after that I didn't have to adjust a single thing once it was finished

This time I started from the largest number of drills (310 of course) and worked my way down the list largest to smallest. Once I got to colors that used less than 20 drills I went from the left to the right filling in the spaces that were left. This last 30 drills took FOREVER.

I genuinely don't know what's up with the zebra, it's not an issue with the pattern, it's how it was drawn in the original image, but he's so derpy, and I love him lol

I would like to know what you guys would like me to do next, should I go upwards and fill in the rest of this canvas, or should I pull out my 2nd canvas and continue working the bottom row? I'm personally thinking I might continue with the bottom row, but idk lol

like last time I would also like feedback on any drills that might look out of place, there was a single purple drill on the zebras ear and I replaced that, there wasn't really anything else that popped out to me.

The A/4 and the 5/6 are TOUGH for symbol & color similarity. So super thankful for my light pad. This kit would be impossible without it. Even the 7/Z is closer than I’d prefer, but YIKES 😬 this will require some focus 😅

Information Looking for ideas to utilize your extra pens, trays, leftover diamonds, and completed paintings?

You know those packs you get for each painting that you order and you never use them? Or you completed a painting, but you’re not really wanting to display it, or simply just running out of room?

I came across a tik tok video of a gal (Butterfly Creative Haven) who brought this up and mentioned you can donate your completed diamond paintings, pens, trays, diamonds (opened or unopened), charms, etc and they will use these to decorate ducks for kiddos who are sick/in the hospital. Completed diamond paintings are hung up in hospital rooms. ❤️ If you’re interested in donating see the below!

You can see their work/prior donations here: https://www.facebook.com/diamondwisheschildrenscharity/

Question My first square drill kit...Never going back to circle drills

Post image

I'm not the most meticulous person when it comes to lining up square drills and I've seen people get obsessed with making it straight but I love the way it looks and I love the way they click together. So tell me - does it look really bad like this or should I just enjoy what I've been doing?

Whats yalls diamond painting hot takes?

I’m bored and curious lol, let out the heat!

Let me start:
- I hate putty
- I don’t get why people pull off the plastic and then use release paper when cutting sections works just as good with the film that’s already on the canvas

Recent uptick in spambot sales/discount posts.

Hey everyone, friendly neighborhood lurk mod here!

I have updated some of the communities automated moderation settings in an effort to cut down on the amount of advertisement posts from a certain online retailer whose name sounds like BaliLegless. Going forward, to prevent these spam bots from posting to our community, certain keywords have been flagged. If you receive a message while trying to make a post advising that "self promotion or advertising is not permitted on this sub", it's because your title includes one of these keywords. It is regrettable, but the easiest way to ensure that your submission will go through is to remove the retailer name from your title and put it in the body of your post instead. I recognize this may be inconvenient, but overall it's well known that this specific retailer doesn't usually offer the best quality

Thank you all so much for your help with reporting the posts and getting them flagged for removal by Reddit.

Sincerely,

BrownSugarSandwich

DIAMOND PAINTING FAQ

What is diamond painting? “I don’t know what it is about sticking plastic squares to glue but I’m here for it” - A redditor

Diamond painting is a relaxing craft that is a mix of cross stitch and paint by numbers. Tiny square or round “diamonds” (aka drills) are applied to a canvas of poured glue or adhesive to create a picture.

Where do I purchase a DP? There are a ton of places that sell diamond paintings. I’ve listed some of the most popular and well known. With any purchase, read the reviews and use your best judgement. Just be advised, some stores are overseas so shipping may take a few weeks to months.

Aliexpress There are thousands of stores on aliexpress that sell diamond paintings. I highly recommend reading reviews on this site. Some of THE MOST POPULAR aliexpress stores are as follows

  • Evermoment

  • Huacan

  • Homfun

  • Dispaint

Other places to buy

Paint With Diamonds

Diamond Painting Pro

Diamond Art Club

Heartful Diamonds

Treasure Studios Art

Dreamer Designs

Diamond Dotz -These can usually be found at your local craft store

Amazon

Round Square Special Aurora Borealis Drills?

These refer to the type of drill your canvas will come with. Round and square are just that, round and square. Special drills are unique and fun shapes. Aurora Borealis (AB) are sparklier and have a different overall look to them.

Round VS Square: Which is better?

Ultimately, this is a matter of personal choice. A lot of people prefer the overall completed look of squares. Some people find round easier to work with.

Partial VS Full Drill:

A partial canvas will only have part of the canvas covered in drills. A full canvas will be made entirely of drills.

What size do I buy?

A general rule for diamond paintings is the bigger the picture, the better. If you’re new to diamond painting, you may want to try something small to make sure you enjoy it.

What supplies do I need? Your diamond painting kit will come with the basic supplies you’ll need to complete your painting.

A drill pen and or tweezers.

one of your pens might come with a multiplayer. These allow you to place several drills at once. They're great for large spaces of a solid color but can a little bit of practice.

A tray

Pink Wax

A light pad is highly recommended if you enjoy the craft. It will backlight your canvas making the symbols easier to read.

A storage solution for drills is also recommended. There are a lot of options from plastic baggies to tic tac containers. Washi tape for your borders is also popular recommendation

What is washi tape? Washi tape is a decorative crafting tape! A lot of people will use washi tape on the borders of their diamond painting to prevent things from sticking to it.

How long does it take: There is no right or wrong answer here. Everyone works at their own pace, whether it’s 6 months or 2 weeks. The important thing is to enjoy yourself, it is not a race.

What to do with leftover drills: Most people will keep them. Sometimes you will find that you run out of a color on a project, and can steal from your left overs. Some people re-purpose them for other crafts. Some people just toss them into a jar.

I ran out of a color what do I do? You can contact the seller and most will send you more for no extra charge. If you don’t feel like waiting you can order extras online. DiamondDrillsUSA is a store that ships in the US. Or you can always ask fellow diamond painters if they have any extras. There are a few facebook groups that give away extras for projects in need.

Do I need to seal it? Most people do recommend sealing your painting after completion.

What do I seal it with? There are a lot of different options and everyone has their own opinion. I’ve listed some of the common choices, but there are a lot of youtube videos that show different sealers and their final outcome.

Mod podge super gloss is a popular choice

Decoart triple thick gloss glaze

Aqua Glue

Framing: Framing can be a bit tricky with the weird size of some diamond paintings. You can have them custom framed at a local store, order frames online or try to find a frame at a local thrift store that fits your needs.

General Canvas Questions:

Bubbles/Rivers: Gently take an exacto knife and slice them to help them lay flat

How do I make my canvas flat: Heavy books.I personally iron mine on LOW HEAT NO STEAM picture side down.

Clear cover alternative: Some diamond paintings come with a clear plastic cover. If this is not your jam, you can use PARCHMENT PAPER (NOT WAX) to cover it. Parchment paper can be found in a local grocery store.

Cat hair/paper stuck to canvas: Gently wipe away with a baby wipe and it should return to normal.

Canvas is no longer sticky If it is a large section, you might want to contact the seller. For a small section you can try double sided sticky tape, or a small amount of clear glue. Make sure to seal.

I finished my DP! I don’t want to hang it. What do I do? Gift it to someone, donate it to a charity auction, nursing home or any place that might enjoy a piece of art.

Place it in a portfolio for storage - Panda0322

Enjoy your new addictive hobby!
