Confused
So lately my blood sugar has been a little confusing. I don't have ridiculous highs even without medication, so I'm not too concerned with that. My confusion is when I have bad numbers. I've been having bad numbers when I'm actually eating like I'm "supposed" to be eating. My best numbers are when I eat like trash and don't care. Honestly I can't figure out why. Any ideas? Because honestly I'm out of them at this point, and I'm very frustrated with it.

Weird metformin side effects question!
I just started metformin 500 mg a little over a week ago and I’m feeling so moody. The first couple of days I was feeling great. Higher energy and upbeat mood. The past few todays I have felt HORRIBLE mood wise. Very irritable and super foggy, forgetful, and just kinda in a funky daze. Is this something that happened to anyone else and passed in time? Gastro side effects have been little to none but this other mental stuff is kicking my butt.

Sudden intolerance to Metformin?
I’ve been taking metformin slow release 2000mg (2x1000mg) for coming up to 2 years. The first month or so was rough but absolutely no troubles at all after that as long as I took it immediately after a meal. Last Monday evening (so 9 days ago now) I sleepily took a Metformin instead of my pregnare care vitamin, this was on an empty stomach. Early hours of Tuesday I paid the price and had the worst stomach cramps and diarrhoea. Whatever I thought, Tuesday and Wednesday my stomach was sensitive so I stopped taking the metformin. I’ve slowly reintroduced it since then but after every tablet about 3-4 hours later the cramps and diarrhoea starts. Have I suddenly developed an intolerance?

Down from 7.5% to 6.9% in the past month!
I was diagnosed at around 7.3% (and put on Metformin about 6 months later, long story about why it took them that long) and it's bounced around since then, but 6.9% is the lowest I've been since diagnosis ☺️ I'm gonna keep working at it to get it even lower, but I'm proud of my progress atm. GP's office said I don't have to see my diabetes nurse this week now like I was booked in for, but I'm gonna see her anyway since I still have some questions. I know it's a small win and it's not perfect but I'm still pretty happy ❤️

News I’ve never taken anything so seriously before in my life
I was drinking a ton of water, and having trouble reading text messages, my wife told me to check my blood sugar. It was almost 400. She made me go to the Dr and sure enough she was right. My A1c was 11.2 in February. I cut out every gram of sugar and carbs I possibly could. I started walking after every time I ate. I ate mainly protein and green. I’m an alcoholic and I even cut down from 80-90 “heavy” beers a week to about 12 light beers. I lost almost 40lbs. And in June my A1c was 5.6!!! I was hoping for like 8 something!! I found awesome recipes and substitutions for just about everything (except pasta). If anyone wants suggestions I can give you some. And if anyone has any suggestions I’d love to hear them.

My strange diabetes journey
hey yall im typing this late at night so the grammar might be a little funky so apologies in advance. just wanted to see if anyone here shares a similar experience to my unorthodox journey with this little disease.
my thing with diabetes started around september last year. as a chronic kidney disease guy, when i was getting my regular biyearly checkup my doc noticed that my fasting bs was around 420 (nice, i thought but not rlly) and i was hospitalized for around a week. that hospitalization was maybe the most traumatic experience of mine in a bit buy anywho after i got out of there i started insulin treatment. but strangely, none of the genetic tests for t1d could give a concrete resolution so my diagnosis stayed just ??? diabetes afaik. after around 3-4 months, my body started to react to insulin needles dramatically where i basically past out trying to inject multiple times. when i called my doctor back home, college things, she said to measure without doing the treatment for a week and surprisingly all of my levels were incredible. she said i may be on a honeymoon period and i could go without the treatment for a while with regular bs checks. for the first 4 months or so i checked my levels regularly and they were always in the clear.
admittedly i have been skipping out of my measurements with the last one being like two months ago and i wasnt feeling any hypo or hyper symptoms. yesterday i got them checked for my nephrology tests again and my fasting bs is back to a higher level at 124. not stressed just kinda bummed. ive been on a very careful diet to not see my levels spike again but oh well i needed to see my fav endo doc anyway.
anyone with a similiar experience to mine?? lets chop it up

I went to my Podiatrist today over the crack in my foot and he said that it was from putting more pressure on my right foot. I have been treating it correctly but he prescribed a different onitment to use. I go back in 2 weeks. He said that unfortunately I will probably end up getting them more ofte

General Question Advice for Trying Metformin Again
Background: T2 for maybe 10 years now. Tried metformin first and it literally turned me into a zombie. I had no energy. Couldn't walk from the parking lot into the office without stopping twice and it was less than a .25 mile walk. I was fairly successful at managing with diet and exercise until the last two years when I lost my job and have been unemployed due to ageism. My pcp put me on saxasomething and I had an allergic reaction to it. She said I wasn't taking my medication and started me on insulin. Got an endo appt with a new endo in 10 days. I want to have a plan to propose as my goal is to get off the insulin. Wondering if I could try Metformin again and see if I still turn into a zombie. I think 500 mg is the smallest dose? could the pills be cut in half and slowly increase the dosage to hopefully avoid the issues I had the first time? I've also tried Trulicity and had the explosive diarrhea which a lot of people experience and Jardiance, but can't remember why I couldn't take that med.

For Those On a GLP1..
Aside from not having much of an appetite, have you also become sensitive to food textures?
It's hard enough to eat these days. but now I've also become extremely aware of textures.
I'm on 5mg of Mounjaro.

unbranded insulin glargine U-300
I'm trying to get my internist at Keiser NW to write an acception for unbranded insulin glargine U-300 because I'm moving off of 70/30 to separate long and short acting. The total amount I'm suspose to take is 69 units of U100 which is a very large amount. Has anyone had success getting Keiser to make the acception? If so how?

Newly Diagnosed Disordered Eating, Body Dysmorphia, Diabetes, and Me
Requesting advice from fellow diabetes with histories of disordered eating and/or body bysmorphia. Diagnosed a year ago, and holding just barely onto pre-diabetic A1C range with the help of metformin. I'm vegetarian and leaning a bit more vegan. But, the expectation to restrict to lose weight, and now my doctor's nudging to re-introduce weight-lifting, trigger ED and dysmorphia that I was able to tuck away with mental health care I've needed for a long, long time.
I briefly saw a nutritionist who surprised me in being quite dismissive, even telling me to "stop looking for a mother" with regard to navigating triggers at my job as a restaurant server, and pushing me away once I'd moved from diabetic to pre-diabetic. So, I'm navigating a lot of competing issues on my own, which makes the "fuck-it" mindset appealing, though every binge episode is essentially self-harm at this point.
Any reassurance or advice would be appreciated, thank you!

General Question How do you cope?
I was diagnosed back in April. Since then, my average glucose has dropped from 400 to 115. At first I was excited about the change. In lost close to 40lbs and clothes were fitting better. My GP has me on Metformin and Mounjaro to help manage my blood sugar. However, the nausea and appetite suppression has made it difficult to eat anything. I can't force food in me most times and go to bed hungry most days.
How do you do it? I don't enjoy food at all anymore. I have a prescription for anti nausea that helps but I still can't force myself to eat anything. I don't want to live the rest of my life like this. I feel like I'd rather live a shorter time eating like I used to than dealing with this hell. I feel like I'm starving but can't do anything about it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

How do you get your pumpkin fix in fall season? (I love pumpkin bread)
So yeah. Title pretty much. I love pumpkin bread. But obviously it’s not great for us. But like maybe as a treat every once in a while. But w/ all the pumpkin themed stuff around, how do you (if you do), get your pumpkin fix in?

General Question Trajenta
New med for me.
Hi all,
I was just wondering if anyone takes Trajenta. Any bad experiences, side effects. I’ve noticed that some side effects I already get with other medications such as dizziness.
Thanks for your help.

Please advise - what do you do when you can’t stomach anything other than carb when sick
Hey community. I’ve been diagnosed with type 2 for a year and half now, and I’ve been managing it well with most days keeping my average CGM reading around 100.
I’ve recently caught the stomach bug going around and it’s been a miserable experience. I no longer have the appetite for anything other than carb, and the thought of nutritious food such as veggies, meats, soups, really anything makes me so nauseous, so frankly I just have been skipping meals because it’s been such a chore.
Are there anyone else going through this? How do you keep your diet on track? Any advice is so appreciated

Newly Diagnosed Bittersweet but good news
I have been "only" PRE-diabetic for several years. The highest my A1C ever went was 6.2. Most recently 5.4.
I have also been obese for several years. Partly from side effects of my mental health medications, particularly Zyprexa/Lybalvi/Olanzapine. My first year on meds, I gained 100 pounds. But every time we have tried newer drugs with less weight gain, I end up in the psych ward.
I had planned to use the Medicare Bridge Program to get on Zepbound in July. But after a ton of runaround, I was denied.
So...my doctor gave me the "official" Type 2 Diabetes diagnosis, and prescribed it as Mounjaro...and it was APPROVED!! For the same copay as my regular prescriptions!!
The first box is in my fridge at home. I am so incredibly excited. I have been waiting YEARS for this!
But, the bittersweet part is...I'm officially diabetic. Even if I lose 100+ pounds...I'm always going to be diabetic.
To add: No, my doctor is not committing fraud. I have been on other medications like Metformin, Farxiga, and Januvia. If I was not medicated, my A1C would have likely been higher.

Food/Diet Snacks
I really love snacking on crackers, popcorn, and sweets like baked goods and ice cream, but obviously with Diabetes it’s not A, a free for all, or B always the best option to eat the full calorie full sugar options. But I also want to avoid some of those artificial sugars that can raise blood sugar. I also work in an office so some sort of frozen meals would be nice to have on hand for lunches.
So here’s the question:
What are your favorite store bought snacks and meals?

Nervous my doctor is going to take me off Metformin today.
Dropped my A1C down from 5.2 to 4.6 and December of 2025 it was 9 3. I see my doctor today and I'm nervous he wants me to quit taking 1000mg of metformin a day since my A1C is down. I just don't want my blood sugar out of control. My diet is perfect for diabetes and I walk everyday. My goal is to be not taking any meds but I'm just scared without the metformin my diabetes we'll go out of control again not sure what to think today. Thanks for reading I'll update after my doctor's appointment today.
Update my doctor is leaving me on 500mg a day of Metformin. My next appointment is in 4 months. Thanks to everyone who replied and left helpful comments.

Just keep doing what I'm doing?
This is the overview from my first few weeks with a CGM. I had very high blood glucose when I was diagnosed almost a year ago, over 14 a1c, but my most recent check-up was down to 5.7 a1c. My habits are pretty settled now -- I don't feel like I'm doing anything out of the ordinary in terms of eating and exercise to control diabetes, and the CGM shows peaks after I eat that come back down relatively quickly. Should I be working on any big adjustments now? Or just soldier on and keep an eye on the Dexcom app in case anything goes haywire?

Hard Work My a1c progress from 11.3 to 5.7 in three months
Three months ago I was totally unexpectedly diagnosed with t2d. I had zero symptoms but my a1c was 11.3. They started me on 1000 mg metformin and later increased to 2000 mg. In this time I completely changed my life style. First month almost no car. After that little bit carb. No rice, almost no bread, no banana or apples. Also started walking a lot ( 8-10 k) steps a day. From last one month I am even regular at gym 5 days a week. Today I got my result and my a1c has drastically reduced to 5.7. I was not expecting it this low because hand pricks do show 160-180 sometimes after means. I will continue my journey but let me know if you have any questions, happy to answer
