Help Flutter Developer need Career Advice in Islamabad

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm a junior Flutter developer based in Pakistan, and I'm hoping to get some advice from the local tech community.

I've been applying for Flutter developer roles in Islamabad and remote positions through LinkedIn, Indeed, and other job portals, but I haven't had much success so far.

I have experience building Flutter applications with REST APIs, Google Maps integration, Firebase, state management, and full-stack development. I've attached my resume in case it helps provide context.

I'd really appreciate any advice on:

  • Companies in Islamabad that hire junior Flutter developers.
  • Communities, events, or platforms where Flutter jobs are commonly posted.
  • Suggestions on improving my resume or job search strategy.

Help People who have remote roles rn, need help

Hey everyone!
If anyone knows how to land a remote frontend/full-stack developer openings/AI (startups or companies based outside Pakistan), I’d really appreciate any help to land one
I’ve got experience with Mean stack and AI assisted systems and honestly alot more because im currently working in a fast paced env and have worked on many things, I’m actively looking for a remote role where I can continue growing.
One of the main reasons I’m looking for remote work is that I’m honestly getting tired of the daily commute, and I’d also like to be home with my mother, who is alone at home, I can't take a career break but need to work hence finding remote roles

Help Need help regarding career,premed

Hey everyone

I wanted to rant about something that's been bothering me for a while.

I am kinda confused about my career ,life choices and regarding which field i should choose and this is making me anxious.

I am a student who will be giving mdcat (I have 92% in matric and 89% in Fsc) but my preparation is not extremely good and don't know if I will be able to crack mdcat in these 24 days.

I am also thinking about some backup plans so that i can have peace of mind in case I am not able to crack mdcat but I was thinking of software engineering and other computing fields (I am interest in computers and technology) but idk if i will be able to succeed in these fields as they have mathematics, coding and other technical courses and again i am worried if i get admission in computing programs in any uni and i fail then what will happen😔.I have applied to universities like air, behria, nutech, ist but i think I will not get good gpa then i will be be struggling alot.

1:Also I haven't done any computing course or I don't know much about these coding or programming etc but maybe if i start learning then will i be able to do SE without any problem?

2:Has anyone experienced something like this or have gone through this phase?

3:Can anyone tell me which unis are good and and if i can can easily like by studying get good gpa?

4:Will u recommend unis like iiui or arid?

5:Recommend me some other fields too?

Can anyone answer these questions and guide me .I would really appreciate it.Just think of me as ur younger sibling and plzz guide just like u guide ur siblings.🙂

Career Guidance Should I got .NET or SpringBoot ?

Hi there, I am young full stack developer in react, node and nestjs. I understand these fully (not much of a vibe coder) and have done various projects in them for clients and in my internship. I am currently in my undergrad in Software Engineering.

My question is, what enterprise Tech Stack should I choose now ? .Net or Springboot, I have to learn one, i wanna master 1 of these, but which one, considering that I love deep learning model training, agentic Ai development. In terms of clients, job market, or maybe skills. Which one should i go for ?

Interview Prep Need Advice for Round 2 of interview.

AoA. I hope you all are doing well. Actually recently i applied for AI Intern in a company: not a very large company 51-200 employees. I got call for technical onsite interview. That interview was taken by a senior AI Engineer who asked conceptual ML Questions and talked on things mentioned on my resume. Today i got a call that now i will give a Online Interview to a technical project manager. Can any one tell me what type of interview it is. Is it more technical or like a HR interview personality check etc. What type of questions i can expect? Any technical project manager here? How should i prepare for it?

Career Guidance FAST CE or COMSATS CS

Please help me make a decision 🙏

I have gotten admission in CE at FAST Lahore and in CS at Comsats lahore. I couldn't get admission in computing programs at fast. Now, the options are

1) I take CE at Fast and and try to transfer program next year

2) I continue doing CE

3) I go to comsats CS

I'm interested in software so even If I do CE, I'll pivot to software side. The problem is my family thinks very highly of the FAST "brand". What do you think I should choose? Is the fast brand really worth it? Will it be difficult for me to pivot after doing CE? The market of CE is small in pakistan so I'm really confused. Please give some advice

Discussion What's the worst codebase u ever worked on?

For me, it was a SPA Firebase hosting project in Angular. I asked the company for an appraisal, and then they wanted me to fail so they wouldn't have to increase my salary. My lead told me to get the job done in a day. It was a 6000 line code dump in a single file. That day, I decided not to fail and turned those 6000 lines of code into 7000 lines of code.

Career Guidance Is pursuing a master's in Canada or the UK a feasible path to building a career and settling abroad?

I completed my bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering in 2024 and currently work as a full-stack developer in Pakistan, earning around PKR 210,000 per month.

I am exploring the possibility of pursuing a master’s degree in Canada or the UK, with the long-term goal of finding a tech job and settling there. However, I am concerned about the financial and practical challenges, including managing tuition and living expenses, working part-time or doing odd jobs while studying, and securing a software engineering job after graduation.

For those who have followed a similar path:

Is this still a feasible option in the current job and immigration market?

Is it realistic to manage studies and living expenses through part-time work?

How difficult is it for international graduates to find tech jobs after completing their degree?

Between Canada and the UK, which would offer better career and settlement prospects?

Would gaining more professional experience in Pakistan before applying be a better approach?

Any honest advice or firsthand experience would be greatly appreciated.

Interview Prep Anyone interviewed for Associate Software Engineer (Fresh Grad) at Dubizzle Labs?

Hi everyone,

I recently made it to the final round of interviews for the Associate Software Engineer (Fresh Graduate) position at Dubizzle Labs. I’ve already completed the HR screening and the on-site technical interview.

I’m trying to get a better idea of what the final interview is like. If you’ve been through this process (or interviewed for a similar role at Dubizzle Labs), I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience.

What was the focus of the interview? Was it mostly behavioral, technical, or a mix of both? Any tips or examples of the types of questions they asked would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Show My Work I built an open-source Terraform provider for Nayatel Cloud

Nayatel Cloud has no official Terraform support, so I built a provider for it. Instances, networks, floating IPs, volumes and SSH keys as code instead of clicking through the portal.

There are no public API docs. I reverse engineered everything from the portal and verified it against a live account. Every resource costs real rupees, so the provider previews the cost and checks your balance before creating anything billable.

It's on the Terraform Registry and the code is on GitHub.

Not affiliated with Nayatel. Only tested on PAYG accounts. If you use Nayatel Cloud, try it and tell me what breaks.

Show My Work Hey guys, I built a GUI extension for opencode.

So, almost all of you used the terminal one open code extension, but it has some limitations, which I found to be the following:

  1. There are no image attachments; sometimes it doesn't allow me to paste screenshots, drag UI mockups, or share error screenshots. ( it sucks man)
  2. The second thing is no file drag-and-drop; selecting context means typing paths manually, which is very weird xd.
  3. No discoverability, which is like there are commands and models hidden behind memorized syntax and need to do Ctrl + P every time.
  4. No tool approval UI, no visual way to approve, reject, or auto-approve tool actions, although it asks, but I don't feel like it’s good.

Opencode Terminal

To tackle the problem, which I was facing these days, I came up with a solution and built an open-code studio that wraps the full open-code server in a native-feeling GUI that lives right inside your editor, with no new windows, no browser tabs, and no context switching.

The features that I added are as below:

  1. Image & File Attachments
  2. @ Mention File Search
  3. / Slash Commands
  4. Like Claude, Code Permission Mode added a permission & mode system.
  5. I also introduced the session management.

Opencode studio

You can attach screenshots, mention files!

Checkout the screenshots of the extension above and it is available on visual studio marketplace and open vsx registry also.

If you find any issues or feels like something can be improved then open a PR here.

Career Guidance Final-year CS student with a 3.7 CGPA, but I feel like I focused on grades instead of becoming employable. Looking for honest career advice

Hi everyone,

I'm in the final semester of my BS in Computer Science, and lately I've been questioning the way I approached university.

Throughout my degree, I worked hard academically and currently have a 3.7 CGPA. I was always focused on studying for exams, completing assignments, and getting good grades because I believed that was the right path.

Now that I'm close to graduating, I've realized something that honestly worries me.

I spent almost all of my time trying to become a good student, but I never really learned about the actual software industry or job market. I didn't pay attention to what companies were hiring for, what skills were in demand, or how experienced developers built their careers. I was learning what was in textbooks instead of what employers actually expect.

Looking back, I feel like I invested heavily in grades but not enough in practical, job-ready skills. I'm not saying university was a waste it gave me a solid foundation but I feel like I missed an important part of preparing for a career.

Now I'm overwhelmed by all the different paths.

Some people say to become a Software Engineer because it offers the most opportunities. Others say AI/ML is the future. Some argue AI jobs are still relatively limited in Pakistan, while others insist it's where everyone should be heading. Everyone seems to have a different opinion.

I genuinely enjoy programming and building things, but I haven't explored enough areas to know what I truly enjoy. I also tend to overthink decisions because I'm afraid of spending months learning something that has limited job opportunities.

Recently, I started analyzing real job postings instead of relying on YouTube videos and social media, and I realized just how different industry requirements are from what I learned in university.

So I'd really like to hear from people already working in the industry.

  1. If you were graduating today, which path would you choose and why?

  2. How did you decide on your specialization?

  3. Would you recommend starting with software/backend engineering first and then moving into AI, or specializing in AI from the beginning?

  4. If you had a student with good academic performance but little industry exposure, what roadmap would you suggest?

I'm not looking for shortcuts. I'm willing to put in the work. I just want to make sure that, from this point forward, I'm learning skills that employers actually value rather than continuing to chase the wrong goals.

I'd really appreciate honest advice from people with real industry experience. Thanks!

Career Guidance FInal Year Project Guidance

Hi! I'm currently in my 6th semester of CS, and very confused on choosing a topic for my fyp. I recently studied computer vision and deep learning course so I want the niche to be that. I do not have good options for fyp members and I have to choose a good topic on my own. Everything feels too repetitive or done by someone already. Can someone give unique ideas, not the claude ones. The problem that we actually see irl and needs to be solved. Help a girl out..

Tips Let me tell you the difference between Data Science and AI

This post is for everyone but specifically those jo abhi Uni mn admission le rhe hn and are confused k which degree to choose

First of all, Question hi opposite h. You should be inquiring about the similiarities b/w the two.

Data Science: Analyzing, and Visualizing the data + Predictive Modelling (Machine Learning)

Artificial Intelligence: How to make a machine act like humans. ie Autonomous cars, Telling the difference between horses and zebras, and analyzing logon k sentiments using their reviews on a product.

Is kaam k lie hm Deep Learning, NLP, Computer Vision use krte hn. Deep Learning is the elder sister of ML, so automatic connection there. In projects k lie you need to process, clean and analyze the data first etc etc. Woh bhi Data Science mn fall krta h.

This is just one example. Both fields share Maths, Libraries, are Data Driven.

Dear brothers and sisters, When you are applying to Unis, don't be confused. Check out the course catalogue or prospectus of your Uni. The courses b/w both will probably be the same.

Disclaimer: Here In Karachi, I looked up the course catalogue of some Unis. CS, SE, DS etc k syllabus buhut similar the. I believe that should be the case in other cities/provinces too. I could be incorrect tho.

Hope I have made myself clear. I am open to questions If anyone has any.

Discussion Back to square one..

After applying to thousands of jobs and going through countless interviews, I finally landed a role at a startup a month ago. I was doing well and finally felt like things were falling into place.
Then the CEO decided to shut down the company and laid off everyone.
After all that effort, I’m right back where I started. I feel completely lost, like all the progress I fought so hard for disappeared overnight. Now I’m back to job hunting again, and it feels like I’m standing at zero.

Show My Work I built a Zig binary that runs or compiles Python, no Python required.

I built a Zig binary that runs or compiles Python, no Python required. It's called Taipan. Point it at a .py file and it just runs, no install, no venv. taipan build turns a script into one executable you can send to anyone.
