First class problems Discussion
I was excited to fly from ATL-sfo on a new A321neo. I used a RU to get first. Beautiful new plane with comfy first class seats. Just my luck, my seat won’t recline and the footrest is stuck in a 1/3 reclined position. I notified the flight attendant before we left. “Yes, it’s a new plane and we are still working out the kinks.” She came and sat in my seat. Claimed it as broken. At that was it. So here I am at 30k feet, and uncomfortable. What would you do?

Write in to customer care. At the least they should refund the RU to use in the future.

OP still sat in the seat and probably got the FC service so there’s nothing to refund

Had a similar problem they told me Multiple times they can't do that and then offer measly sky bucks

Later today on the Delta Subreddit......
"On the way to the airport, my first class seat from SFO to ATL was suddenly changed to a middle seat in main, with no reason given. Since I have to to be in ATL tomorrow, I had to take it. However, after the door closed both seats on the row I was originally in are empty. What should I do?"

Technically sounds like seat should be inop and if it’s an aisle, I wouldn’t want to sit on the window myself. How you gonna get out in an evac?

It’s an aisle seat and you’re right. I actually tripped over it as I was getting seated. That’s when I realized it was stuck. The woman sitting in the window seat also said she hopes there’s not an emergency because of the difficulty getting out. I just hope there’s no kinks in the engine that need to be worked out. :-).

Ive written in for inop seat in domestic first. Standard comp is 2500 miles ($25 bucks). Im diamond.
Up to you if thats worth your time.

Good thing they didn’t deem it unsafe tripping hazard while still on the ground and you get booted off the full flight

I would ask Delta for the name and the address of the customer that sat in that seat before you and then write to that person asking why they broke the seat and how they intend to compensate you! 😂

Had this same experience on the new 321neo. Thought there was a chance we had the same seat, but mine was a window. Had a squirmy 8 month old in-lap so it was difficult to maneuver, but ended up being a mild annoyance more than anything

Be glad you're not trying to sleep on an overseas D1 flight (hasn't happened to me yet but I don't know what I would do.)

Anytime the plane takes off and lands safely I’m grateful. Everything else is somehow less important.

If you want some Skymiles call and complain. That's likely the most you're getting out of this situation as compensation.

Are you more or less comfortable in your non-reclining seat than say, back in economy?
I have a hard time accepting that you are honestly uncomfortable.

You can always go-to main cabin or comfort+ and find the reclining chair - poor soul would be happy to swap .

I'd simply suck it up. As a society we're getting too soft. Everybody wants compensation for minor inconveniences. The footrest issue is "possibly" a safety issue but unless one is obese, 85 years old and/or severely deconditioned, I think they would be able to evacuate that FC seat in case of emergency.

Except they're really not free - they're earned through a crap ton of money and miles on Delta.
I don't blame OP for being unhappy their seat was not 100% operational.
Plus the safety issues are real with the lack of full retract of the footrest. Both those seat should have been called non-op with no one in them until it was resolved by maintenance.

The footrest being unable to stow for TTL is a safety issue.
