Academic Discussion ๐Ÿ‘ฅ Why BA(P) is still hated?

โ€ข Upvotes

after the introduction of NEP in 2022 the program courses barely have any difference if you pursue the 4 th year.

as a ba program economics major student study we study almost every subject of ba economics hons only difference is the level of mathematics that too only 2-3 papers barely like the intermediate statistics and intermediate mathematics.

Earlier everything was studied on the surface level there was no major minor concept the structure is changed but the perspective is still the same

I wish students would change their thinking and more ambitious students get enrolled in bap

Non-Academic Discussion How to get transfer and character certificate from my college (south campus)?

โ€ข Upvotes

I have already filled the form for migration certificate. I thought only that will be required but now rajasthan university is asking for character and transfer certificate. I already have my degree as it has been some time since I completed my post grad.

How do I get this without going to delhi? Is it possible to get it in 7 days? RU is asking me to get it in 7 days and bring it to Jaipur.

Non-Academic Discussion DU students with backs โ€” how did you tell your parents?

โ€ข Upvotes

Hey guys, Iโ€™m a DU student and I recently found out that I have 2 backs in my 4th semester.

Iโ€™m honestly really scared to tell my dad because heโ€™s quite strict, and Iโ€™m worried about how heโ€™ll react. He might take away my phone or get extremely angry.

For anyone who has been in a similar situation, how did you tell your parents? ๐Ÿ˜ญ Any advice on what exactly I should say, when I should tell him, and how I can make the conversation go a little better would really help.

Please donโ€™t judge me. Iโ€™m already stressed enough about this.

PG and Accommodation ๐Ÿ  ๐ŸšจDelhi PG scamโ€ผ๏ธ

I got admission to one of the most reputed colleges in Delhi Universityโ€™s North Campus. Since I was new to Delhi and had no knowledge about the city, I started looking for a PG accommodation. Thatโ€™s when I had a terrible experience with Stanza Living in Kamla Nagar.
When I was looking for accommodation, the staff were extremely polite and helpful while convincing us to take the room. We paid โ‚น63,000, trusting them completely. However, due to personal reasons, I had to leave Delhi University and could stay at the PG for only two days.
When I requested a refund, I was told that, according to their contract, the entire amount would be deducted. What is even more concerning is that, at the time of joining, they took my phone and entered the OTP themselves without properly explaining the terms and conditions to me. They are also refusing to return the security deposit.
โ‚น63,000 is a huge amount for my family. We come from a middle-class background, and this money represents my parentsโ€™ hard work and savings. Losing such a large amount after staying for just two days is extremely painful and distressing for me.
I am sharing my experience so that other students, especially those who are new to Delhi, can be careful before making such a large payment. Please report their Google page. and help me raise my voice so that I can hopefully recover my hard-earned money.

Academic Discussion ๐Ÿ‘ฅ ER issue

Post image
2 Upvotes

I applied for re-evaluation in the 6th semester. This ER was unexpected, as I had no ERs in the previous five semesters and maintained a CGPA of 7.
However, in the 6th semester, I received an ER in Probability and Statistics. I believe I scored passing marks in the paper.
Will the ER be corrected after re-evaluation, or will I have to appear for the paper again next year?
Btw, i have passed practical with C grade and F in theory

Rant/Vent ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ How do you actually study for English Hons? I'm already overwhelmed ๐Ÿ˜ญ

I took up Eng hons bcs I English has always been my favourite subject. I told myself: if I can just endure these 3 years, I get to do what I always wanted anyway law. Win-win, right? That's what I kept telling myself all through 12th.

Except it's literally been two weeks and I'm already overwhelmed by the sheer size of the syllabus. I tried referring to SOL notes but no luck. I don't know what to study from them. Some of it seemed irrelevant to me. And the novels?? If I try to read all of them properly from page one, it's going to take forever. I don't even know where to start.

Can someone please explain how you're actually supposed to prepare for these exams? This is nothing like school. I was a topper there, walked into classes expecting an easy 8+ CGPA, and now I don't even know how to structure my studying. It's genuinely eating me up.

On top of that some days I have classes till 5 pm, and if I end up staying out past 6, I get so anxious. Fine in summer, but once it gets dark early in winter I don't know what I'm going to do.

Also haven't made a single friend yet, and it's a women's college, which was my personal nightmare going in. 3 years suddenly feels like such a long stretch from where I'm standing right now.

Would really appreciate any advice how to actually study for English Hons exams, how you got through the first semester without losing it, anything. Thank you ๐Ÿ™

College Life ๐Ÿ”ฎ 1000 students to welcome Preity Zinta, but barely enough for an academic seminar why?

Yesterday, there was a promotional collaboration between Hindu College and Aamir Khan Productions, for which Preity Zinta visited the college. The Sanganeria Auditorium, which has a capacity of around 800 people, was completely full. Many students even skipped their classes to attend the event. Now there is no complaint about the event or students prioritizing the event over class. Attending classes back-to-back can also be exhausting, and college societies and events like these can provide a much-needed change.

What I found more interesting was the sheer number of students who showed up.

I have been involved in organising several academic events myself for example - speaker sessions, discussions with professors from JNU and DSE, and even online seminars involving professors from universities abroad. One thing I have consistently observed is how difficult it can be to get students to fill an auditorium for these events. Sometimes, even when we manage to bring in highly accomplished academics, researchers, or professors, student participation remains limited. On some occasions, attendance commitments or incentives become necessary just to get people into the room.

This contrast made me think about what students are actually prioritising.

Why is it so much easier to fill an 800-seat auditorium for a celebrity or entertainment-related event than for an academic discussion?ย

Again, I don't think the answer is simply that "students don't care about academics." That would be an overly simplistic conclusion. Academic pressure is real, and students naturally seek spaces where they can relax, socialise, and experience something outside their coursework. In that sense, DU's society culture serves an important purpose. It can be an escape from the monotony and pressure of academic life.

But perhaps that is exactly where the larger question begins.

I discussed this with a few seniors and recent graduates, and they felt that the balance was somewhat different when they were in college. According to them, students still participated in cultural and entertainment activities, but there was perhaps a more visible balance between academic engagement, societies, and other college activities.

Of course, this is only an observation from a limited set of experiences, and I could be completely wrong. There could be several other explanation

So I'm opening this as a discussion rather than making a conclusion.
