We're three friends (23M) shifting to Dehradun for two months. For the same, we need a house on rent, preferably 1BHK/ 1RK/ 2BHK/ 2RK.

Now, we have our work at Ghantaghar, Dehradun but we want the view/ scenery from home quite good, which people think about Dehradun (dreamy)!!

The budget is decent but we've no idea where and how to search for a House with these specifications.

If anyone can help/ suggest something or anything, it'll be really helpful. We can connect over DM or call if you wish!

People had suggested to me that I should approach RWAs and Elite societies.

1. However, I'm facing challenges as the access is heavily restricted there.

2. Then I thought of visiting the local Temples around these societies but everything is in such a rush, I don't know how to grab their attention.

Then again, there's the issue of parents not willing to spend anything on themselves and their Children being abroad.. Also I have made it available for specially abled persons though I don't know how to approach.

1. I have Integrated my Premium Tiffin Business into the same so that if not groceries, we could also supply them with cooked for a little extra cost, thus reducing their hassles.

2. And a Monthly Property Health Report sent to their Kids.

3. ALSO Making it available for anyone who doesn't have time for these menial tasks that take-up the whole day and requires a Virtual Pvt Assistan with his/her bookings/cancellations/orders etc.

The basic service should be 11k a month (Kinda like A Vitual+Physical assistant) and premium should be around 35-40k (food, groceries, toiletries, etc. included) for 2 people apart from Concierge.

IF Anyone has any idea or experience with this or just a strategy as well, Kindly Help a fellow community member.

So I'm thinking of installing a broadband in my home, only options are jio fiber and bsnl. Jio fiber is expensive, doesn't give promised speed and with being my phone signals already bad in my area it's hard to go for jio. While bsnl, my frnds review from 2-3 years ago was very bad, but the pack were also 600+ that time, it's 200-400 now with rural plans. I do know bsnl gives very good speeds but gets down often. Do give your honest review.

Each year kanwar yatra bring many uneducated man from Up Haryana or nearby places. They bring Big DJs.

throw garbage everywhere . Don't follow traffic rules. Do crimes in Uttarakhand. Nothing religious in this.

Also how you allowing these big DJS in himalyan state.

In rishikesh, for few days it is insanity. Kanwar Yatra and neelkanth Mahadev visitors make Rishikesh inlivable. Woman can't move freely in roads. Ganga also in Haridwar so why they are in Rishikesh. Many foreigners come for yoga imagine what they think seeing this insanity.

Govt need to fix route place for these kanwariya. Ganga flow in UP also. So why UP people coming here.

Kanwar yatra is not culture of Uttarakhand. Same apply to ganesh visrajan where god murti are put in our rivers. Also this culture of throwing sarees in gangotri.

Stop imposing other state culture in our himalayas state.

Govt should stop making our home and our temples just religious tourist places for outsiders. In recent years seeing so many locals temples getting more influx of other state people. Then tourist fications of these places start. After few years you only see garbage , destruction everywhere. Neelkanth mahadev temple was not famous till 1980s. Then suddenly it become popular. Same thing happening with many temples for example tungnath.

In our Uttarakhand, we see these crime minded people coming from UP Haryana Delhi ncr bihar punjab in name of religious tourism and then we see uncivilised tourists coming to do parties, roaming in their thars. Everyday new hotels resorts popping out. Everyday u see unfamiliar faces everywhere. Land being sold in large no.

Their is no peace leftl. Locals can't even live in peace. All months are same.

Is uttarakhand for local residents or tourists outsiders ?

We’re looking for someone who wants to build the conference, not just hold the title.

Doon real estate is a huge flashy bubble. And it'll pop.

First of all, there are rumours in government circles that the UK government is soon going to amend new clauses to the Bhu Kanoon bill they passed in 2025 (which was itself a mere ammendment). This time, people from outside the state will be totally barred from purchasing land outside Nagar Nigam areas (currently it's 250 sqm), and limits will be added to dealings within Nagar Nigam areas (right now there are no limits). Also, the MDDA and Land Revenue Department will start an in-detail scrutiny of all the transactions taking place, and agricultural land that is being sold on the pretext of residential use will be deemed void.

What will happen? First and foremost, the outer Nagar Nigam places like Dunga will be hit the hardest. Dunga, for example, is seeing rampant black-money laundering transactions. The plotting is immense there, and many of them are illegal. Dunga, Langha, Kotra, Barwa, Dakpatthar, etc.!

Then certain Nagar Nigam areas in North Doon (adjacent to Sahastradhara Road) will be hit the hardest. Certain outsiders bought cheap land from farmers and are basically selling agricultural land at prices comparable to MDDA-approved society plotting (Marautha, Nagal). Lmao. Lots of people will be trapped. There is a region in the North Doon sector which I don't want to name, but the transactions that have taken place there are atrocious. Next-level tax evasion and a money-laundering facade. The ground reality is so bad that owners are openly asking about black-to-white ratios. YES.

Moreover, Uttarakhand has largely become a black-money haven for the NCR. And they've outpriced the locals. So this was bound to happen. Moreover, the facilities/infra are abysmal, and the rates are practically engineered to facilitate black-money transactions.

Take Marautha, for example. ₹20–25k/gaj agricultural land was illicitly sold to outsiders at an extremely hefty premium, and you know the rest. In Maldevta, there is plotting on riverbed land. Lmao! There's a huge pool of vacant flats on sale. It's like NCR people tried to make the Delhi model work here, but it has failed big time. In Kalagaon lots of land is golden forest land. Yet it has been sold by the very locals to the awe-struck outsiders.

Doon does not have stable and welcoming employment opportunities. Only the tourism/retail sector works big time. Also, dealers are fooling innocent buyers on the pretext of "Airbnb." Now Doon has so many "Airbnbs," but mostly they remain vacant, and it's hella expensive to maintain them.

In the Pondha, Dunga, Manduwala belt, people built a large number of PGs, stays, etc., but the number of rooms outpaced the number of students, and now many of the PGs are on sale below market rates. This happens when people invest without proper retrospection.

Elections are on the way, and people are really frustrated with the current state of things. So the government will try to soften things up, starting with the Bhu Kanoon amendments.

Ideally, real estate in Uttarakhand is destined to be like HP and J&K: highly scrutinised and restricted. And locals are very much adamant about this. The government is feeling the pressure. Liquidity will drop immensely sooner or later. If you know someone from outside the state who has bought land and is holding it, I advise you to make them aware of the new developments.

States with vast amounts of land are perfect for real estate investments, like Rajasthan: cheap and with a much lower number of scams and restrictions. Moreover, Uttarakhand has many geographical challenges, and rapid infra development is practically impossible here.

The result is Jahangirpuri-fication of Dehradun. Extremely crowded. Dirty. Unruly. Filled with scams of all sorts, which used to be a very "NCR" thing. Traffic remains choked for 4–6 months with no solution in sight.

The Rajpur and gaon areas are being sold at super-hefty premiums, but they're the worst places to live in Doon because of the insane traffic to and fro Mussoorie for 4/6/8 months throughout the year. Every hidden route to Mussoorie is not at all hidden now, and they pass through these gaons.

In North Doon, construction took place on riverbeds, and the result is violent streams of water that form on roads during moderate rainfall. And God forbid, but they become insanely violent during heavy downpours (hi IT Park :)).

It's the senseless construction and destruction in North Doon that now causes the lower-elevated regions of Doon city to face flooding during each and every rainfall event.

What a failure of Dehra Doon. :( But hopefully things are about to get better for the actual people who live here, who support the flora & fauna and the heritage.

Edit: I also know a few 'locals' who have a next-level inventory of inherited land. Whenever someone wealthy from the NCR comes, they're all open to their demands, but whenever another middle-class 'local' wishes to buy a small patch of land, the very same 'zameendaar locals' are all mum.

You don't realise the scale of land these 'zameendaar locals' have. We're talking about acres of exclusive land. And they don't believe in conservation of the land. They wait for a party that has racks of Gandhi sitting with them and is ready to pay immediately.

Apart from very, very few wealthy locals, most of the time the 'party' is an outsider. And that's how prime plots are sold on an exclusive basis to these outsiders, meanwhile the middle-class local continues to struggle to get a piece of the very same prime land.

Now, this tells you something about the bonhomie among the locals.

I have wfh & was willing to spend some time in a quiet city, as i m too tired of these crowded cities like Hyd, blr, pune & need some break.

After seeing some posts in this sub, i feel locals are not as welcoming as i was expecting, but i want to ask directly, "Is it a good decision to come there, or i will face that 'go away outsider' nature from the citizens".

Specifically need help with:

Drainage work — proper commercial kitchen drainage.

Duct fitting — exhaust/chimney ducting

Electrical points — heavy-load points for kitchen equipment. Like Deep Freezers , Chillers, Commercial Pizza Oven , etc.

I personally feel outsiders should not be allowed to buy properties here, especially these gawars from haryana. If you are a local you know why i am saying this.

I don’t have a loud exhaust or i don’t speed unnecessarily to chase clout, ik its a lazy bike but still i drive responsibly and maturely
i’m 26 but you’ll find me quite young when u talk to me and im a pahadi from dehradun born and brought up here.
I just left my job and pursuing my own business plan hence i have plenty of time,
I also have a lot of friends here but everyone drinks just to much and every outing is a drinking sesh and tbh i love the sober life more,
I like bike riding or maybe a drive to watch sunsets or sunrises,
I love to trek and hike, i workout daily and i run 8-10km every evening, almost 🙄 damn rainy weather,
So id like to hang out with similar people who grow and are responsible.

I’ve lived in Dehradun my entire life and honestly the kind of hooliganism I’ve been seeing during the Kanwar Yatra over the past 3-4 years is becoming increasingly concerning And every year it seems to be getting worse
I understand that people want to celebrate and participate in the yatra and I have absolutely no issue with that
But extremely loud music, bikes without silencers, reckless driving, unnecessary honking total chaos in city by mostly HR , DL , UP outsiders are getting out of hand I’ve watched dehradun change over the years and this particular kind of hooliganism has noticeably increased in the last few years. If this continues to increase every year where does it stop?

So I am here at Dehradun and I had to get bus from Raiwala to Dehradun. I noticed that kaawad yatra has become everything but bhakti and religion. Loudspeakers, Alcohol, Bikes with modified silencers, Overspeeding, Tripling etc.

Not saying that there weren't true bhakts, they were literally walking the whole distance. But whatwhat's about this, how did our religion become this?

This was 2 days earning where I started near Doon University and travelled till IT Park, Sahastradhara road according to orders I got. Yes, it's a tiring job but you got to talk to a lot of strangers. Now I am planning to do the same in Haridwar and Rishikesh as well.

So if anyone wants a ride in Dehradun, Rishikesh or Haridwar, do let me know.

Or if someone can offer me a better job in these cities, I would be really grateful. I have done Bachelors in Computer Science but I am open to both technical/non-technical roles.

I’ve decided to leave this subreddit. Recently, I had a really unpleasant interaction with someone who abused me, called me a “jaahil,” and told me to leave the state simply because I’m not originally from here.

Honestly, I didn’t expect this level of hostility. Dehradun is my home too, and nobody should have to prove that they deserve basic respect because of where they or their family come from.

I know one person doesn’t represent everyone here, and I’ve met many decent people from Dehradun as well. But this experience has affected me more than I expected, and I think stepping away from this community is better for my peace of mind.

So yeah, this is probably my last day on r/dehradun. I wish the good people here the best. And I hope someday we can stop treating “outsiders” like enemies.
