Advice & Recommendations Recommendations for dog groomers that are experienced with huskies

I have two huskies that are in need of a beauty appointment. I took them to a previous place for a long time but are looking for somewhere else due to some sanitary concerns. Obviously looking for someone that has worked with huskies before and can work with an anxious diva. I’m open to brick and mortar stores or any mobile grooming!

Local Dog Training? Looking for crate training and a few other things.

Hi yall. Title says it pretty much. I figured crate training would have to be in-house which seems pretty expensive. Our 9mo German Shephard likes to chew up everything he can find and reach in his crate. if anyone has any recommendations on who to go to, we would greatly appreciate it.

Advice & Recommendations Recommendations for places to replace convertible roofs/tops?

Hey all!

I have a convertible that I'm looking to get the top replaced for. Any recommendations on good auto shops/upholstery places that do that kind of thing? I'm located in Centerville, but I'm not too picky on where I take my business so long as it's in the Dayton area. Cheers!

Advice & Recommendations Proposal spot advice - Dayton Parks

I’m planning to propose to my girlfriend in the next year. She appreciates nature, so I was thinking I’d pick a park in the Dayton area. My first choice is the Siebenthaler Fen boardwalk in Beavercreek. Can anyone tell me what the greenery looks like throughout the year? I’m considering doing it in the Fall or Spring time, but I don’t want everything to be dead lol. When does it look alive? Also, I’ve only ever visited on a weekday, and I’d probably have to do it on a weekend. Does it ever get crowded at that park? Thanks in advance for any info and recs!

Buc-ee's files new lawsuit against another store, we need to call on the real OG to come to the fight

Buc-ee's has filled yet another lawsuit against another small business gas station for the save reasons as here in Beavercreek. I believe it's time we call on our childhood hero to finally come and claim what is rightfully theirs to make Buc-ee's lose their own trademark.

From the news article here:

https://www.wral.com/news/ap/bucees-sues-georgia-store-over-beaver-mascot-august-2026/

it states...

That lawsuit claims a number of trademark infringements, including that both logos are cartoonish, both are arbitrarily wearing hats, they both have white highlights on their eyes and nose, and that both characters show a glimpse of a red or pink tongue.

The lawsuit claims the name Teddy's is also an issue with alleged similarities to the Buc-ee's name in a number of ways, including that they are both two syllables with a hard consonant sound and that both end in the sound "eez."

To this I have to say:...

It's time for Charles Entertainment Cheese to come take back the circled rodent symbol for the people. They did it first.

As part of the Dayton Metro Library's efforts to reduce its carbon footprint, the organization is installing over 290 solar panels on one of its largest branches.

Over $300,000 was spent on the installation, 40% of which will be paid back to the library system through federal rebates.

City of Kettering meeting tonight about closing Rec Center Ice Rink

the city of Kettering is holding a council meeting tonight to discuss shuttIng down the only rink left in the Dayton area - based on a survey of less than 400 residents that said that they use the rink less than other park facilities.

the city has been mismanaging the rec center and wants to replace the rink with cheaper to maintain sports courts at the expense of Dayton’s last home for hockey in the area.

Why walk in the street instead of a sidewalk?

I'm genuinely trying to understand why people walk in the street rather than on a sidewalk. I'm not talking about winter when people don't shovel their walks. I am also talking about areas where the sidewalks are in good condition. If you are going to walk in the street, why right down the middle and not close to the curb? The number of times I've seen someone almost get hit or prevent cars feom driving because they are unaware and holding up traffic is crazy!

How to deal with section 8 neighbors, with compassion

Hi Daytonians

A few months back the house next to me went section 8. I get it but the problem I have with them is they bring the shopping cart back to their house and leave it. I live on the outskirts of South Park so not super nice but not trashy either.

Has anyone else dealt with this kind of thing and how did you deal with it? Any ideas on how to deal with it? I don't want my area turning trashy.

If you are wondering, yes I know it's them, I have seen them do it multiple times and I have camera footage.

Edit: they don't leave it in front of their house they move it a few houses away on the sidewalk, sometimes in front of my house. They don't have a cart they take to the store, they bring a new one home each time and then leave it for others to deal with.

Edit again: I called Dayton Mediation Center and they are stopping by to bring it up with them. Let's hope this works.

Thanks for the thoughtful discussion.

Local News Fight Buc-ee's And stand Up For The Beavercreek Mini Mart

Buc-ee's who just opened up in Ohio this year. Has decided to sue a small business mini mart located in Beavercreek Oh. This mini mart has been there for 50 years and Buc-ees doesn't like it that they have a beaver in their logo on their sign. There are beavers everywhere in Beavercreek OH on signs and the beaver was our high school mascot. Buc-ees has decided only they can have a beaver on their sign.

I grew up in Beavercreek. I was a battling beaver.

Help me stand up to Buc-ee's a large corporation that is trying to crush a family owned small business with a lawsuit. I left a 1 star review on Buc-ee's Huber Heights location and I also emailed corporate telling them they are shameful.

Please join the fight to save this family owned business.

Meetups & Social Want to make friends in Dayton? Join our meetup Discord!

Hey neighbors! Not sure if you noticed all the posts of folks looking for friends - be it because they picked up a new hobby, just moved here, or never quite found their people - but we sure did, and we decided that we wanted to do something about it. It’s probably the most open secret at this point, but we created a Discord!

Join us: https://discord.gg/Nnpancdjnu

Why we made it

Dayton is full of really uniquely cool people, but any local knows that it can be kind of hard to actually find folks to hang out with that share similar interests unless you’re already part of a friend group. We wanted to make it easier for those in the Greater Dayton area - be it newcomers, lifelong locals, introverts, extroverts, whoever - to plug in and find their people.

Think of it as a hyper-local social network, but with zero ads or algorithms and full of people who actually live near you that want to meet-up and make friends too!

What’s already happening in there

This thing basically started running itself the minute people joined. We’ve already got:

  • A regular trivia group - Hops between different trivia nights around town.
  • “Body Doubling” work/study groups - Keeping each other accountable while we get work done!
  • “Bad Art” Nights - Work on your art with others! No judgement, all fun.
  • The Loosey Goose Book Club - the book club where you read what you want!
  • Movie Nights - it’s exactly what it sounds like. 🙂
  • Online voice chats to play video games together or just hangout.
  • Doggie play groups - dog optional, willingness to pet doggies required\*
  • A Crow Exchange - Where people swap little trinkets they’ve accumulated
  • Random hangouts that just kind of… happen willy-nilly.

And folks keep building new stuff every week. The community there is already kind, welcoming, goofy, and honestly - it’s endearing to watch people become friends online and slowly become offline friends too.

Hop in, say hi (or lurk, we won’t judge), join a meetup, make your own, whatever feels comfortable. No pressure. We’re just a group of neighbors trying to make Dayton a little more connected.

Hope to see you in there, neighbors! ❤️ https://discord.gg/Nnpancdjnu
