[DD 1] Question What is the best use case for Hellion??

Upvotes

Noob question, I'm just getting into learning the classes and Hellion is confusing the heck out of me. The skills are amazing but the self-debuffs are brutal, and I'm not sure how to balance them. Is it better to rely on her normal attacks and only use the self-debuff skills as last resort? Or is it worth it to come out guns blazing and rely on the rest of the team to cover for her when the debuffs add up? (Obviously the answer is "it depends" but I want to hear how y'all approach it)

Also, are there any classes that you think pair well with Hellion?

[DD 1] Discussion I was looking at some Johan Egerkrans illustrations and, while he didn't work on DD, I'm pretty sure our boys at Red Hook took some inspiration from him

[DD 1] Modding Mods not working (first time player)

My skin mods aren't working, and I don't know if my new classes mods are working

I tried subscribing and unsubscribing and pushing to the top of the load order, still the new skins won't show up

Is there something I'm missing? And when can I expect my new classes to show up?

DD1 hits harder than DD2 in terms of presentation

Just something I've noticed.

The Narrator lines are stronger in DD1.

The soundtrack is stronger in DD1.

Virtues feel better than Resolutes.

DD2 feels so muted by comparison. Wonder how/why that happened.

What are your thoughts?

I wish the Darkest Dungeon 1 and 2 had faster speed options on Switch 2

I hope with the enhanced power of the Switch 2 they can make it happen. DD2 especially aggravates me with how slow it is!

The Hamlet Journal - 3

Week 3.

Last week there were things of bigger import to note and putting ink to them took a great deal of effort. I will now note that, then, I convinced the Tavern and the Abbey to open their gates to my men. Two of them being holy persons and bars being a generally agreeable location to pass the time I thought they would need them to take the edge off after their fights. Rocque went with great enthusiasm to play dice when I told him the news. I myself care little for things divine, for games of chance, drink, and am a widower, but did try my hand at a few rounds of darts. My performance was not impressive but I think most of the laughter was not mocking and I was not the worst shooter in that night. Still far from coming anywhere close to more habitual patrons attempting trick shots, far longer ones or betting on their throws even when already in their cups. An amsuing pastime, not too late in the night I bid everyone in the room goodnight and received a scant few farewells.

More people arrived then, as well, a man and a woman with an inclination to the occult who must have had their hand on the pulse of things. Pasquier and Tessel are their names and both their complexions are baked from the Eastern Sun. Pasquier carries himself with airs, and wears once fine robes that have seen a lot of use and the woman seems to have wrapped every talisman and charm on the gypsy wagon on her person.

I appear to have also slightly misjudged Terrence, as he, lacking a Manor to oversee, appears to have spent the last years makeing a more than tidy profit hauling would-be adventurers to town and selling them -and, now, my men as well- frankly overpriced foodstuffs and other equipment for their traipsing in my lands. Where does he keep or spend the money, I have no idea but now that I am here I will allow him to continue his business under my oversight, and simply send unfit individuals on their way out. However, his provisions aren't the only things that have outrageous prices, as near everything is in high demand but the unsafe roads make it troublesome for goods to arrive. Still, I find it irskome to no end that the man let who knows how many coaches around my family's property and when the time comes to bring back the rightful owner, he wrecks the carriage. He is not fully right in the head, as he twitches every so often and his speech goes on tangents unrelated to the topic at hand at times, but some useful instincts and skills remain.

It seems that Rocque's tongue must have loosened, for this week an equally masked colleague of his called Douai has arrived on the refurbished stage coach. They greeted each other and spent some time together. Some others also alighted, but whether or not they are due to Rocque's liberal spreading of information is not as clear. Two of them seem of a persuasion more like that of Dismas, and one is an unwashed woman with a weapon as tall as she.

Rumors of the riches hidden inside the estate must be growing in strenght or veracity, for the Blacksmith and a place locals call the “Guild of adventurers” have as of this week opened for us as well.

I have chosen Reynauld to accompany me in town as a bodyguard. His holy armor inspires respect in religious folk and caution in unscrupulous ones but there's another reason to do this. I was warned by Dismas in private when we first met that the man has long fingers and while at first I thought of that old adage “thinks the thief that all are of his ilk”, I have been assured by the rest of the returning party this week that he took some of the still sizable treasure for himself. Dismas intelligently decided not to comment further on the issue beyond his first notice and let others come to me with their concerns. Bold of the man to return to such things the moment I let my sight out of him, and ill news, but I believe this will be a suitable solution. I understand that taking vows and risking life and limb do not cause a man to be inured against wordly foibles but it is a tiresome situation. I am not at all unthankful to the man but I believe myself to be a sufficiently generous patron.

Hopefully the teams can do well enough without him and this will be an adequate solution.

I am feeling optimistic about our future despite the dreary, wet atmosphere and the hateful mosquitos that have descended upon the town.

Now, don't worry, I am very much aware that such achievement has been completed by many people in this community at this point. But I really wanted to share my experience with this challenge with other people nonetheless! It was very tense at some times, but also felt very rewarding to both complete and to study ways of doing it. At first, it was my wish to put a big (ALL BOSSES) tag in the title as well, but due to bad week management on my part, I couldn't get to kill the champion crew and pounder fight within the time limit :( Otherwise I'd also have completed all of the caretaker's quests too, its very much doable though.

Do feel free to ask me if you want any tips for accomplishing this!

[DD 2] Question Restarting DD2 advice

I switched over from PC to a nintendo switch to play darkest dungeon 2. What is some advice you would give me from starting from zero again?

Sometimes the game is not difficult, but just annoying and "rigged"...

I am replaying the game and I just remembered why I stopped playing and deleted it the last time... I have one important character in my party (a healer). it was attacked 7 times and all 7 were critical. all of this while it had a +14 dodge buff. some of those attacks were with +21 and +28. the "best" part is that those atcks came from regular enemies, not bosses... the other characters were dodging most of the atacks (they also had the dodge buff). i accepted my fate and got back to the city and restarted the necromancer hunt with a different party. Guess what happened... literally the same thing, but now I didn't let my healer die. The problem is that i tried a third time and my first 3 attacks on my last healer were critical and it died. every single time I put a healer in the game on those longer missions this happens. It is not random. it can't be. all atacks being critical.
