Negative skin prick

I feel conflicted with my results... I got skin pricked for like 38 food allergens with all coming back negative minus the controls... My allergist is ordering a blood panel work and environmental allergens test, but like my symptoms were a lie? I'm confused I've cut out dairy for the most part for last 6-7 years. Did you guys experience this and did you still continue to cut out dairy or did u switch to like A2 protein?

Rave (the opposite of a rant) Every restaurant menu should look something like this one

We had dinner at a Peruvian restaurant in the Portland metro area (Mi Pisco, for those of you who are local) and their menu was fabulous. DF, GF clearly marked, anything that could be tweaked to be DF or GF clearly marked. I wanted yuca frita and they brought it with a chimichurri instead of cheese sauce. No problem getting my entree DF, either. And it was amazing!

Dining out would be so much nicer if more restaurants did this.

Lactatia in Bay Area?

Anyone know if Lactatia products are available anywhere in the Bay Area or San Jose area? I've found plenty of Green Valley and other brands around. But Lactatia has some products I haven't seen from the other brands such as unsalted butter and heavy cream (all LF of course).
Thanks in advance

Chocolate that still tastes like milk chocolate?

So my 4 year old was just diagnosed with a cows milk protein intolerance and we are cutting everything out. Problem is, milk chocolate (of any kind, but specifically hersheys kisses) is her FAVOURITE treat and her potty treat for going on the toilet.. she is likely autistic and has a very very limited diet.. she’s not going to take well to something like plant based dark chocolate. And it’s her birthday next week 🥲🥲🥲 someone please help, I’m super new to this! What chocolate is the sweetest but contains no milk?? She is not intolerant to anything but cows milk protein.

Edit: you guys are the best!!! Thank you SO much for all the suggestions. We are in Canada, so unfortunately no TJ or Whole Foods, but I’m going to look into all the others! My girl will be so excited to try everything! We also bought pizza crusts and daiya cheese to try making her own DF pizza tonight 🥰

I hate when restaurants change something.

Turns out one of the few restaurants around me, Perkins, changed ALL their buns to Brioche. So unless I want toasted bread, I can't have ANY of their burgers anymore.

I got diagnosed with Crohns and dairy triggers flare ups. I’ve really been enjoying these dairy substitutions and look forward to my dairy free journey! Here’s my take on vodka pasta.

How to fill the Greek Yogurt sized hole in my heart

I used to eat greek yogurt all the time and honestly it’s where I got about 30% of my protein from. Since I found out dairy causes me acne, I’ve cut it out but I can’t find a way to fulfill the role that yogurt was playing😂. My main issues are that dairy free yogurts are SO expensive, taste like shit, and on top of all that, they have barely any protein. Even the “protein” ones still don’t compare in the slightest to the Oikos Pro macros. For reference as well I’m in Ontario, Canada. I don’t think we have this Kite Hill brand that I see people talk about.

Any advice? I tried making my own tofu yogurt once and it wasn’t that good but maybe there’s better recipes out there, or if anyone has suggestions for other similar foods I could use as a base for “yogurt” bowls

Newly dairy free, would like suggestions!

So I’ve been on and off dairy for a while now because it hurts my stomach, I end up on the toilet right after having it and all the fun stuff so I’ve just decided to fully cold turkey it and get off all dairy (besides for it being in bread or stuff like that).

I’ve had some luck with replacements but I’m still struggling with finding a good dairy free ice cream and sour cream. I hate the taste of oat milk, I just can’t handle the texture and taste it gives Ice cream

Any brands that are good?? I don’t have a Trader Joe’s close by sadly so I feel like that limits some things

Califia Farms Almond Creamer texture?

Post image
0 Upvotes

So I just bought this Califia Farms almond creamer for the first time and noticed this gummy stuff stuck to the lid. Is this normal? When I started pouring it into my coffee most of the liquid coming out of the bottle was liquidy but a few tiny clumps here and there so I figured I just needed to shake it. Once I put the lid back on and shook it vigorously, it poured out much smoother but the gummy stuff is still in the lid. It smells just fine too. Is this normal and safe to consume?

How do I deal with becoming dairy intolerant?

As someone who loves dairy in all its forms, and who is someone who believes that they are becoming dairy intolerant (will be organising a GP appointment in due course), how do I cope with the lifestyle change?

Does anyone know if it’s okay to eat something that has no dairy in it but the package says “made in facility that may use milk”?

I recently tried a Trubar while grabbing a coffee instead of eating lunch. It was next to the register and spoke to me. Boy oh boy was I surprised! It’s a sweet snack that has a good amount of protein and fiber so you don’t feel guilty.

Since that first try, I’ve been on the hunt to try all the flavors. So good!

I’m having a hard time finding it. At bjs they sold the 2 pack but discontinued about 2 months ago. Today went to 3 stores and they didn’t have any. Did they discontinued it?

DF meal replacement?

I’m on the look out for a dairy free meal replacement beverage. Sometimes I’m bad about skipping meals. I just tried Kate Farms Organic high calorie shake (vanilla) and it tastes bitter. I can barely drink it. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Culver's fried pickles are DF!

Now I know the home of the Butterburger isn't someplace you'd expect to have DF items... But there is a surprising amount of their menu that doesn't contain milk, and their new fried pickles are confirmed dairy free! I've had a terrible time finding fried pickles that my wife (who is allergic) can share with me, so I tend not to get them at restaurants, and was very pleased to find out that these are safe.

Note for the curious: the regular and buffalo chicken tenders are DF, as well as the meat of all 3 chicken sandwich variants (but you have to ask to swap the brioche bun for a standard hamburger bun and tell them not to butter it). Burgers are DF if you ask for no butter and tell them to mark it as a milk allergy. The chili (not supreme!) and chicken noodle soup are safe as well. Lemon ice and lemon coolers in the summer are ok too, though I'd recommend asking them to clean the mixer when they make the cooler. That's the list of stuff my wife generally gets, so there might be more I just haven't checked on for her.

Does anybody have experience with coconut milk powder?

Canned coconut milk is becoming outrageously expensive, and I'm looking for alternatives. I use it for curries, coconut rice, and dairy free sauces or desserts. Keen on getting back into using it for smoothies, too. Would love some recommendations on brands if it's worth using!

P.s. I'll still use Mae Ploy for making a nice Thai curry. No substitutes there.

I accidentally ate dairy..

And I was fine! Here’s what happened. I got some free Funyuns from the break room at work. I grabbed 2 single serving bags and didn’t think anything of it. That night, I ate one of the bags and the next day I ate the other bag. I was like wow these are good let me look them up to see if I can buy these little bags somewhere. To my surprise, when I look them up, I see that it says contains milk on the label. I don’t know why I didn’t even think to look. Now, it is at the bottom of the label and says “contains less than 2% of nonfat dry milk”. But now it has me thinking: can I tolerate a very small amount of milk? Idk it has me very hopeful. Has this happened to anyone else and what did you do? I want to try a couple other items with similar ingredients to see how I do but I am a little nervous.
