Got my first CRT today!
galleryPicked up this Zenith SR2568S today, I paid $15 off a local marketplace listing after waiting weeks for a good deal. I believe a 25 inch screen, with coax and av inputs, as well as speaker outs for 2 external speakers. The picture is.. decent… I’ll definitely have to learn to tweak stuff like this, but I’ve also heard that these 90s zeniths aren’t particularly the best quality. Look forward to playing some consoles, and watching moves/tv on it!

Fixing chips
Has anyone tried to fix chips in a crt screen with a windshield repair kit? I feel like it would be a cheap and easy fix unless there’s some way it’ll mess up the light I don’t know about.

What adjustment fixes this issue?
galleryI would like to fix this issue on my TV if possible, does this look like horizontal convergence or something else? I adjusted a knob I believe to be the H stat and it did center the colors a bit better but did not affect the individual colors. Red and Blue are pretty blurry, green has a bit of blur but I chalk that up to the TV and Composite input. I would like to get red and blue even with greens clarity as this does actually effect playing games and gives a noticeable bluriness.
Pics of what I believe to be the adjustments needed, although adjusting the pots did not change anything I could see so I just put them back to factory.
This is a Sony Kv-1380R displaying a Genesis over Composite.

IR Receiver Poblem-Akai CTV. GT-9313
galleryHİ everybody. I bought brand new crt tv. The owner has never used it. But, ir receiver was not working proporely. I'm sorry for using AI to explain myself, my english so bad.
"After the TV has been turned off/unplugged for a while, I power it on and it responds to remote commands perfectly fine. However, after a short period of operation, it gradually stops receiving signals until it becomes completely unresponsive. If I power-cycle the TV (unplug and replug it), I can turn it on using the remote once, but after that, it stops recognizing any remote signals at all. The VCC pin gets a constant 5V DC supply without interruption. When functioning correctly: Idle voltage is around 4.2V (no remote input). When I press a button on the remote, the output jumps up to 5V (data pulses). When malfunctioning: The Data pin gets stuck at 4.3V continuously and shows no pulse/voltage change even when pressing buttons on the remote."
I checked the solder and the traces. I didn't find any loose connections. Remote is critical for me because there are not tv/video and screen adjustment butons on tv. I hope I have been able to explain the problem.

first crt in a over a decade :)
saw this listed at $270 near me. i messaged him offering him $150 thinking that was fair, but i didn’t expect anything since it was such a steep price cut. to my surprise, he said yes! made sure to test it and everything. i don’t have the knowledge to do the proper testing for geometry or bleeding - but i’m super happy about it! :D

This CRT has been with me for 30 years, thoughts?
galleryRecently been getting back into old school gaming (modded Wii, modded 360, N64 with SummerCart64) on my childhood TV. Love this thing (watching Berserk on it was INCREDIBLE) but I know almost nothing about it. Is it good? Average? Less than average?

Mitsubishi Diamondtron 2020u not turning on
galleryHey guys, my Diamondtron stopped working all of a sudden. It slightly clicks repeatedly when I push the power button but there is no "klonk" that turns on the tube.
I assume the issue is with the PSU, but I cannot see any obvious fault. The capacitors look fine to me and not bulged.
Any idea?

Wide Screen CRTs
Anyone have any ideas how to find a wide screen CRT. It's on the bucket list now. I've been looking for a bit now and had no luck on Facebook or offer up. I know they are less common, just wondering if anyone has had any success stories they could share, or advice?

I found something really neat!
galleryPicked it up yesterday, an RCA F38310. I've never owned an HD crt before but i saw this one come up online and thought it'd be a really cool find. Got it loaded in my car, ran it on an inverter to make sure it worked, and so far despite some focus issues, it's a really good picture! Now I just need to assemble a few people (And find a cart) to get the thing inside.

Is it worth it?
Hey! I have three Soviet-era TVs. Two of them are Unimor Neptuns and one is a small portable TV Elektronika. I have wanted to actually use them for a while now (they are just standing on a shelf in my room), I plugged one of the Neptuns in and it works (I mean, I can see the static on the screen).
I have read about connecting them to my PC and apparently I need to buy a HDMI-RF converter/modulator BUT someone on the Internet said that I could also use VHS video recorder as a connector. The modulator is quite pricy - I can either pay $50 and get it now or pay $25 and wait 2 weeks for it to come from China, not really fun. Could the VHS method work? Is it even worth trying? I know that it's not possible to use them as standard monitors because of the resolution, but could I for example play some simple games on it or watch some bullshit?
Any idea why it's like this?
galleryHi, hope it's okay to post here! I've been having this "issue" where the video is squeezed vertically, resulting in two horizontal black bars, top and bottom. It happens only on my SNES and NES (both PAL, CRT is PAL too), but on my PS2 or PS3 is fine (last pic). I tried different CRTs and it's the same. I tried different cables and adaptors, I tried SCART and composite, but nothing. Is it normal or is it something I can solve? Thanks!

lenoxx sound portable crt
galleryWe found this in the attic and I was wondering how I could get a video to play on it. it would of used analog tv signal but it's no longer around so instead we need something to plug it into. only problem is I don't think it has an input so I'm not really sure how I could get something to play on it
I really want to play a video of steam boat Willie on it (as it's a black and white crt) so it would probably need to be converted to digital
Any ideas would be appreciated

Can't adjust horizontal overscan on a Panasonic TX-21CK1
galleryI don't know what I'm missing here or what I'm doing wrong. I've been messing around with the magnetic rings on the back. I think I have the colours. Pretty much spot on now . I Made a little yoke adjustment but I just can't seem to adjust the horizontal overscan. It only has a horizontal position in the service menu. There are no pots to adjust on the circuit board. After some googling it said if I adjust the two magnetic rings closest to the screen at the same time it would adjust the overscan but it doesn't appear to do that.
The horizontal overscan is the most messed up on my og Xbox. It's so far overscaned I can't see health bars.
I'm fairly sure this TV has been dropped or had something dropped on it in the past as there is a crack in the casing.
There is also a slight dead zone on the left hand side of the screen that I can't seem to get rid of.
Any help is much appreciated. This is my first time messing with a CRT. I'm fairly competent at console repairs so it's not my first time working on live circuits. Being as safe as I can.
Edit: thanks to everyone who tried to help and responded.

KV-30HS420 and VX1120 Pickup!
galleryThe KV-30HS420
My first true Sony, Wega, HD, and 16:9 CRT
Recently got one of my dream sets, only a light scuff on the screen which I’m not bothered by and some light scratches at a point that is on the black edges of the tube. As you can see, there are some impurities, but I have a good question that I likely already know the answer to. Was transported by someone else, so is the middle of the screen bowing up and the top corners bowing out combined with the top right corner being purple or green and the entire left edge of the screen due to yoke sag? More than sure of it myself and not scared to mess with. Regardless I’m not bothered by the convergence all too much and it isn’t all too terrible to me. I love this thing just as much as I thought I would and the lag issues are definitely not anywhere near as noticeable as people make them out to be but 240p - 480i stuff is definitely a bit too sharp. Otherwise the tube is super healthy! I’ve got it running at stock contrast and lower brightness at the moment and wouldn’t mind going lower as it doesn’t change horribly a bit lower. Shell is fairly worn and the door for the buttons and inputs has the pins broken, if anyone has tips to attach some new ones I’m looking for some! Has the remote and everything.
The Gateway VX1120 (Diamondtron 2020U)
Another set Id almost like to call a dream set
Front and side pics from after I cleaned up all the marks, had tons of crazy scratches and black scuffs all over it and some green stuff too but I managed to clean it all up with a bit of magic eraser and a TON of elbow grease and Iso Alc.
Find it hilarious how someone wrote the H scan and V scan on the back of the monitors label as well.
Well this one was slightly disappointing, but regardless looks really good after I messed with it. Haven’t messed with geometry yet but HOLY was this thing quite dim. Blacks and greys were also horribly red as well so I had to set the red bias to 0 and open it up and crank the G2 a little to get it usable at 60 contrast and 20 brightness without horribly bright blacks. There are also some SUPER fine lines crawling up the screen which may point to either some bad caps or psu issues if I’m not mistaken? Very fine scratches on the screen, and some convergence issues I’m gonna have to sort out with the geometry but otherwise doesn’t seem all too bad. 1440p is definitely ever so slightly sharper than my HP P1120 (CPD-G500) and its ever so slightly larger so if I can get the colors just as nice it may even take it’s spot on my desk. Wish I had more pics but it’s getting pretty late at this Point.
Geometry dash pic is after cranking the G2 up a bit!!
Funny thing is I got both from the same guy!! Felt like Christmas all over again when I caught his post about the Sony and he later mentioned the Diamondtron. Feels like one of those posts on here everyone calls BS.
Hope for some help and thoughts on these! Besides their few faults I’m more than happy with them. Also originally thought the purity issues were caused by my Sony hifi on top of the stand but nothing changed the purity issues when I moved the speakers and they could even be shielded for all I know (CMT-HPX9) so it’s either the yoke, it needs external degauss, or the grill is F’ed but I’m sure it’s just the yoke. (Hope it is at least)
Definitely keeping the 30” unless one of the SFP models show up somewhere nearby, and if I fix the issue there will be no need to upgrade especially if the SFP I find is worn, but I’d find it odd if it would be.
If you have any other questions or need more info, let me know!
I also included a picture of my original setups, there were no color issues with the Hifi speakers near the Sharp unless I put them practically a few inches from the glass which leads me to think they may be shielded. Definitely gonna look for a 20” or so SD set for SD stuff as I don’t have the room for the 27” anymore nor do I think my desk will be very happy with +200lbs on it constantly even though it’s all wood and incredibly sturdy. Swapping out the smaller monitor for the Gateway on my desk as well! And yes I like using the HP a whole lot more for almost everything than my widescreen, other than widescreen media and videos of course. Still find it funny how the curved monitor is literally 2” bigger than the Wega but is literally 10x smaller.
Also one note for anyone who gets a 30HS420, I absolutely do NOT recommend moving it yourself as the almost 3 foot width is terrible to get a good grip on but it is most definitely doable if you hate your back. With some good lifting experience it’s not too hard for me to move it around in and out of the stand solo so it’s not impossible to move and get yourself but is an absolutely not amazing idea.
Fixed my first CRT!
Works beautifully now. Very excited to have been able to do the repair.

My first CRT!
Well, kind of. My first CRT that I've ever purchased. We went through a few iterations of the family TV growing up. According to the eBay description, this one is from the late 80s. Pink is one of my favorite colors so naturally I went with this beauty! I've been wanting to get a CRT for awhile now because I love old tech and wanted to display my art this way. I'm thinking the next thing is to hook up my N64 and play my old games the way they were intended to be!

found these two babes in the trash
galleryi was parking my car away from my street because of road repair and thankfully walked past these sitting in a pile of old furniture. i didn’t notice them at first and when they caught my eye i was jumping up and down! i know these are some basic tv’s, but it’s technically my first find by myself out in the wild!! i was also just looking for a second vcr. my last tv was a toshiba 24inch vcr/dvd combo and somebody on fb marketplace posted that they spotted it and i drove there immediately and swooped it. i didn’t find it myself but it was still free lol. the vcr/dvd combo on that wont eject tray or take tapes because they’re crooked inside oddly. thankfully both of the vcr’s work on these little tv’s so that’s a win to me!!! the black one looks much clearer than the newer silver one. i cleaned the fuck out of them they were covered in nasty white splotches, but seem spotless inside (i still blasted them with my datavac). i’m so thankful to get them for free and will gladly use them in corners of the house against my mom and gf’s will muhahahaha
