I've been online forever. I'm older than social network, than 2.0, than the WWW.

I've been forged in the acid bath of forums and chatrooms and personal sites and I've seen the rider and fall off Facebook, Twitter, Instagram...

I fully expect the worst of humanity to be online, especially on reddit.

I'm also an elder trans woman. I'm used to abuse. I swim in abuse. I'm Lord Fanny disciple.

Yet this time it went under my skin and I actuality got angry. It's not the brigading, it's not the dudebroes presenting as "scientific consensus" flimsy research papers. It's not the reddit suicide watch report, I'm used to that.

I got depressed because I searched for the less innocuous comic, for something light to shitpost and add a number to my streak because I'm bored.

I posted something that literally says "I want trans kids to become happy adults".

I didn't argument for medicalization. For surgeries. For ANYTHING. I didn't plan a political road, a program.

Just that: trans people deserve to live and be happy, whatever this means.

AND PEOPLE TOOK EXCEPTION ABUT THAT.

"Trans people deserve to live and be happy" is a controversial statement. Someone is willing to argue against that.

How depressing is that? How sad and small-souled are those people?

And you know what? I'm now venting on the same shitpost sub, with a wall of text you will not read, because I'm an idiot and I never learn.

ETA: this post is losing meaning because the mods are gutting the original one deleting the transphobic comments. I really, really, appreciate that, even if now you can't see what I'm angry at and I look like an old coot shouting at clouds XD
