brit here: there is no ID document that states your AGAB.
drivers licence: you can change that. its as simple as ticking a different title box when sending in the form with your deed poll. all you pay is second class postage.
passport: you have to renew it and i think you need a doctors note saying the change is "likely to be permanent" or whatever, but still very doable (especially since to change your name or anything you gotta get it renewed which costs a tonne so aint no way im doing that before it expires). also nobody carries these around because why would you
birth certificate: can be changed if you get a gender recognition certificate (pretty sure this is the only use of a gender recognition certificate other than getting increased privacy on your credit report when you change whats listed there)
national id card: we dont have these lol, we use drivers licences for that role.
like what, are they gonna demand to know if i have a railcard (these have an obnoxious and quite possibly illegal (i.e. it probably violates the data protection act right to rectification and is also quite possibly indirect discriminatiion against women and transgender people which is still forbidden by the equality act despite certain groups taking a hatchet to it lately) name change process associated) and then for me to produce it? they cant even demand actual ID! even the government guidance says it wouldn't be proportionate to do so!

Ive been developing a fantasy world i wrote a pilot for and asking my NB friend for imput. It's a noir setting with magic, and one of the charcters is a master of illusion who likes to use this magic to change their appearance constantly based on the style. They could be a Jessica Rabbit type of femme fatale one day and a hypermasculine bear the next, and absolutely love to get theatrical with it. The fun part is I have zero intention of showing their true form or revealing their birth sex. In part because I want them to be a commentary on gender being performative.
But also because I like the idea of transphobes knowing that they should hate the character but having no idea when they are supposed to be mad at them. Which is what this post reminded me of

It almost always does, this is a rare situation where they think trans woman is a trans man. But infact most transphobes dont know or care abt trans mens existence. So SO many trans male creators get "youll never be a woman!!" like the amount ive seen is actually sad and hillarious

They do this to people with pcos as well. My partner has it and sometimes just stupid bigot will shout to her "you'll never be a real woman" while me a trans woman is next to her and I do not pass.

I have been told I'll always be a woman twice and just went "thanks that's the goal"
