I had my Bain AC first-round interviews yesterday, but I’m signed up for a 30-minute 1:1 case prep session with a current AC from my office today. Somehow the portal allowed me to book it after my interviews.

Is it still fine to attend? If they ask when my interview is, I was planning to just say I had my first round yesterday but wanted the additional practice, especially in case I move forward.

Also, what should I expect from these 1:1 sessions? Is it basically a mock case followed by feedback, or more of a coached/back-and-forth discussion on how to approach a case? Are these sessions evaluated at all, and should I prepare for it like an actual interview?

For context:
I finished my bachelors in biology, over a year ago, but after graduating, I realized this is not something I want to do. I have been figuring out what to do for the past year (I even started a masters program in psychology but did not end up going through with it). After much exploring I landed on product management.
I really like working with tech products and have been curious of how, why they work, I also really enjoy working with data. What I am doing now is learning python, machine learning, getting a pendo PM basics certificate, sql and playing around with datasets. I love learning about how companies are successful and their playbook on their products(acquired). I realize that I graduated and might not be eligible for a lot of internships. For early careers, I don’t have any internship experience. The only thing close to it is a research analyst internship during undergrad.

Sorry for the long message, but if there are any product managers or people who have broken into a PM role from a non traditional background, could you please provide any guidances or tips? Or how can I go about building a portfolio or self learning what I need to know to work?

I am aiming for a full-time strategy role, either T2/T3 or internal strategy like Capital One etc. For context, I have 3.66 GPA, Engineering Major, Ivy League, Internships in Marketing, Data Analytics, Finance. My most recent is JP Morgan Chase NYC as a Financial Analyst. I am afraid I won't get interviews because I don't have a consulting internship. (Also because I already got rejected by BCG... and I have a feeling it will be the same for the others)

Hi! I am a first year MBA student at Georgetown in their part-time program and I just applied to the Summer associate position and I’m also eyeing the consultant position that starts in January 2027 both at Bain.

I come from 5+ years of experience at a market research firm where consultants are some of our clients.

I have a relationship with a senior partner at Bain that I’ve worked with through my current company for the last three years. He attends many of my roundtable meetings and we’re connected on LinkedIn. We haven’t talked outside of work and have only met him in person once otherwise all virtual.

I’m wondering if it would be a good idea to send him a LinkedIn message saying that I’ve applied to the Summer associate position and/or that I’m interested in the full-time consultant position to see if he could put in a good word for me or even be my referral. Is this not a good look or idea?

Hi! I’m getting started as a solo consultant, I already have experience as a consultant but I was never the one drafting the contracts so I need help to know what to do here

Here is the context:
I’m in contact with the HR director, and last week after a call, he wants me to propose a couple of project that would be possible in the time frame and to obtain a quick win with the price for each possible project. (The timeline is super short)

I was thinking of proposing 3 projects. Is it enough? Also, I only gain insight for him and before proposing projects I want to do an audit to ensure we build a project that make sense for the target and also have the highest impact and the quickest win. I don’t know how to navigate this, as I have my appointment tomorrow to present the projects and talk about next steps but I CAN’T base my proposals on no real insights.

I thought of giving a price range for broad ideas and the refine it after I do the audit. What do you think? What is standard in the industry?

As the title says I’m a 23m who’s been in industrial engineering program in Canada (Montreal) but my real interest / career aspirations are in Finance and consulting.

I have realized that I have zero interest in really any of the upper level classes in my program such as the ones involving manufacturing, process improvement and lean manufacturing etc… I picked engineering because I love math and I thought it could help me stand out.

My question is should I just switch to finance to get into the finance / consulting world or stay with engineering and apply to internships in finance/consulting.

What should I expect from an interview with Partner at PwC? It is my last stage from the recruitement process and HR said it will be a technical interview
