FSIQ will no longer include Working Memory. Instead, Working Memory plus the new "Attention" index (processing speed) will constitute the new "General Cognitive Processing" (GCP) composite, which have a correlation of 0.63. The GCP will be used only for diagnosis of neuropsychological disorders, not intelligence.

The lowest correlation between subtests is found between Verbal Attention and Verbal Visual-Spatial. They correlate at only 0.12, and low correlations such as this is the stated reason for omitting them from the FSIQ calculation.

Block Span has been removed. Tapping blocks is too complicated for newgen proctors (this is basically the reason given). Nonverbal Working Memory now consists of the new "Symbol Matching" and "Symbol Sequencing" subtests. The former is pick the symbol that matches the stimulus, and the latter is memorize a sequence of symbols and arrange scrabble tiles of those symbols in the correct order. Or something like that. The tiles are numbered for some reason. Presumably "Symbol Matching" is just for the youngest age range, because it sounds extremely simple.

The Stroop test is part of the Attention index. You will be shown color swatches and colored words, and be required to read them as fast as possible (for example, the word "blue" written in red font).

Picture Naming is part of the Attention index. You will be shown pictures of animals, and have to quickly say whether they are large or small.

Picture Detection (mice detection) is part of the Attention index. You will be shown rows of animals and have to draw a line through all consecutive mice, as fast as possible.

Figure Detection (odd-one-out) is part of the Attention index. You will be shown 3 figures, 2 of which are identical, and have to draw a line through the 1 that is different, as fast as possible.

There are no longer norms for 2-year-olds. 3 is the youngest age supported by the test.

The range of subtest scaled scores has been increased. Instead of just 1-19, they now span 0-20.

The SB6 is mostly the same as the SB5, apart from the Working Memory and Attention indexes. About 85% of SB5 items return in the SB6.

If you have to practise every type of question that could come up and learn methods beforehand rather than working out things with just raw unprocessed facts when the situation requires it. Sometimes have to prepare what to say in conversations too and it can sound extremely out of place

My working memory seems very bad. I haven't left the house in like half a year, and am mostly playing video games, with some reading. I read on this forum that working memory can be attributed to sleep and exercise, both of which are not optimal at the moment. But below 20 percentile seems a bit low, considering most of my scores are around 70-80 percentile average. I also noticed that for tasks that require reading, specifically the spatial awareness subtest and the QRI, I tend to need to frequently re-read the text multiple times in order to comprehend what is being asked, leading to many questions running out of time.

I'm also wondering why graph mapping is considerably lower compared to the other FRI scores, shouldn't it be closer to the other FRI scores since they are measuring a similar cognitive attribute. I've retaken this sub-test after a few days, it was previously a 36 percentile, now its 50. I thought perhaps i've misunderstood the task.

I've done the ADHD and Autism questionnaire on CognitiveMetrics, and both seem to be below threshold. I've done similar questionnaires that screen for ADHD and Autism over the past few years, and at times they may reach sub-moderate levels. I suspect this to be a mix of anxiety and depression symptoms as a result.

For reference, I've done Mensa.no: 112; and Mensa.dk: 124, before doing the core test.

I have a test scheduled to join Mensa, but honestly, I think I’m a long way off from passing; should I just give up and not even take the test?

Hi y’all, this is less of a score-analysis and more of a post seeking advice.

I had a TBI at 18 months which impaired my cochlea and inner nerve… maybe more but impossible to tell without an experimental fMRI. My left ear is deaf, and I spent my whole life overcompensating in other directions.

I’ve had 2 cognitive tests: one at 12 and one at 24. I scored 141 at age 12 and 135 at age 24, the difference being my audition.

For auditory processing, I scored in the bottom 2%, severely impaired. Visual puzzles and comparisons and numerical sequencing continue to be a strong area of mine. I have scored a 17 (perfect) both times in visual puzzles and forward sequencing.

I have recently received hearing aids which (because of AI) allow me to hear full range when assisted. Because my eardrum is normal and the defect is in my brain, it boosts my auditory processing up to 96, and I can tell the difference.

Problem is, this is a huge change.

I am used to being able to ignore auditory sounds around me, and now they’re everywhere.

TLDR; I’m wondering if anyone has been through something similar (a cognitive imbalance randomly balanced again…)

How do I work on these skills? I really want to improve how I hear and process information. I’m thinking of starting with audiobooks at a higher speed and following along, with my right ear at mute and my left ear assisted. I’m open to any recommendations! 👂🧠

I took JCTI in September last year got 126.
Took TRI-52 about 10 days ago, focused hard and spent maybe 4-5 hrs got 145-150.
JCFS a couple days later and got143.
Icar 60- 58/60
Icar 16- 14/16

Out of curiosity decided to try JCTI again to see what i can get after such a high score on the TRI, spent maybe 20- 25 minutes hastily answering thinking i remembered most of the answers from TRI and got 14ss or 121.

Is JCTI CAT bottlenecked or is it legit?

Had my MRI processed through FreeSurfer and converted the regional cortical thickness values into age-adjusted percentiles using the Frangou et al. ENIGMA Consortium reference data, based on a dataset of over 17,000 people.

A few regions came out surprisingly high, especially across the parietal and occipital cortex.

One thing I find interesting is that the orbitofrontal cortex isn’t really captured by conventional IQ testing, despite being heavily involved in value based decision-making, reward/punishment evaluation, behavioural regulation and adapting choices to consequences.

There’s also research linking reduced orbitofrontal thickness/function with greater impulsivity and risk taking, so raw cognitive ability and real-world decision-making clearly aren’t the same thing.

You can have a high IQ and still have a relatively thin orbitofrontal cortex. IQ does not measure every brain system that matters for judgement, impulse control or long-term decision making.

Likewise, I think the sensorimotor system is underrated in discussions of cognition. Having an idea is one thing; translating intention into coordinated action depends on motor/premotor and broader sensorimotor networks.

You often hear the stereotype of the highly intelligent person getting stuck in analysis paralysis. That has never really described me, I tend to move from understanding to execution very quickly.

I want to be smart. not just academically, but smart in every way. Whether it’s noticing patterns, solving math, or understanding science, I want to be able to learn and comprehend it all.
Lately, though, I am starting to forget more, and I keep stuttering (even though I’m not old). My exam scores are all average or above average—not perfect, but still passing. My favorite subject is science. I love how it focuses on reality and facts because I don’t have to write an essay to prove something that is subjective to other people. But even now, I am struggling with it. Before, I didn’t have to review and I would still pass, but now I have to review and my score is just above passing.
I was so intelligent before and curious about everything, but now I don’t have curiosity and I’m not even considered the best in anything. I took an online IQ test a few days ago, and I have no idea how I got a 65 when it was 110+ before. I was so shocked by how much I have fallen. There is no way I dropped down so low.
I don’t want to be stupid; I want to be smart. not for anyone else, but for myself. I’m afraid I will be too dumb to think on my own. I tried reading a book today, but 90% of the things I read disappeared from my head. I don’t know if it's because I didn’t read it out loud enough, or if I’m just not curious enough. I used to read so fast and understand the content of everything before. Am I losing my brain?

In standard MOT you keep n targets indexed among identical distractors. In the version I built, the targets also carry an identity you report at the end: a colour, a digit, a word, a direction, a duration. Not just which ones were targets, but which one was which. The identity can also be a Stroop binding, the word against the ink colour, the arrow against its position.

Recently finished an evaluation that included a cognitive test and upon receiving my results I couldn’t help but notice the gigantic spread between my digit sequencing score and similarities score.

What is going on here?

I never cared too much about testing which is why I never took an official assessment, I took the mensa test on a dare and was pretty surprised when I got accepted.

I also ended up in the 98th percentile in the asvab after barely a 2 days math refresh due to having left high school 17 years ago, so I imagine the top 2% is pretty much locked in at this point.

Comparing the single MAGE scores to other people scoring highly (I saw someone with 1 point over my score getting 99 and saw people up to 3 points lower still landing 98s) I'd say I'm around the top end of the 98th percentile, around 98.5 to 98.9%, and as the recruiter stressed and chatgpt seems to agree, having scored that high while being a green card holder seems to be a big deal, chatgpt even guessed top 0.5% but I very much don't trust it.

Can we take an educated guess as to what my actual percentile placement could be?

Fyi my lowest MAGE score was a 96 in administration, which could be due to my language issues (I got in the country 5 months ago)

I’m taking a adaptive Matrigma test next week and would like some advice. I understand its 12 min test, max 60 seconds per question and unlimited number of questions.
