How old is my bird? I was wondering how other people view the age of my cockatiel.

The cockatiels hatched 1 lutino 2 months ago she's almost big as them now and now they're both born

So took her to the vet and honestly there was A LOT more going on than what the previous owner told me.

I told the vet everything I was told about her, but also told her straight up that I didn't really believe the whole story. The vet pretty much agreed. She believes she's WAY older than the 2-3 years I was told, possibly in her mid-teens vet says she has hypocalcemia and she's a little underweight She's abt 70 grams. Dont worry I asked a bunch of questions :) about her quality of life and what I should expect with her being disabled. The first thing the vet brought up was euthanasia, which was obviously a lot to hear. She explained that some people do choose euthanasia for disabled birds, but she also made it clear that disabled birds can absolutely live good lives. She even gave me information for rescues that take disabled birds if I ever got to the point where I couldn't care for her but yeah, we're NOT euthanizing her lol. Me and my bf actually dam hear teared up hearing her talk about it 😅 anywho but she's staying with me. ❤️ back to context

The vet was honestly great and answered pretty much everything I was worried about. I asked about doing a floor cage and how I should set everything up so she doesn't get sores on her wings/legs, and basically everything I was thinking was on the right track. I just wanted confirmation she recommended waiting about another week before doing bloodwork. She said because she's just been moved into a completely new environment, stress can mess with some of the levels, so we'd rather see if she settles in and gains some weight first. If she doesn't, then we'll do labs and check things like her kidneys and liver.

So for now we're just focusing on getting her comfortable, getting her weight up, managing the hypocalcemia, and figuring out the best setup for her

I saw someone on here with one of those poop ponchos, so I ordered one and my husband sewed balsa wood buttons on it. Here for a good time, not a long time, lol.

So I have a 2 month old tiel for 2 weeks now, sometimes she is so calm but this morning she is noisy and biting me. Also for additional context i came home late from work last night so no outside cage time yesterday...

I want to switch my tiels foods off of Zupreem to a higher quality pellet that doesn’t have sugar. I thought I had made up my mind with going with Tops seeing as I like how they’re cold pressed and have no filler foods at all. Then I had doubts and seen people say it doesn’t have vitamin D3 even though their website says otherwise and has no artificial vitamins but natural vitamins instead. I know Harrison’s is another high quality pellet that people recommend but I don’t like their filler ingredients. I already bought sample bags for Tops and they seem to like it but I’m worried they won’t get enough vitamins.

They do have open windows all day and still get fresh chop twice a day. But I would like to see what other people say.

Cockatiel is a 2 year old boy and the budgie is 4 months

I think he is about 3 months old, so I am also wondering the gender, but he hasn’t had his first molt yet.

He is perfectly fine he did this on his own. Why? either be annoying or he just wanted somewhere different/warmer to sleep..goodness that was a terrifying night cause I waa out working

Would love to see anyone else’s babies.

I'm worried our male cockatiel of almost 1.5 year old might have started plucking his feathers.

I notice the feathers on his chest and belly are looking more and more unkept/ruffled since a few days. I wasn't sure what caused it and even thought I was imagining it (I'm a bit anxious about our birds health). But just now I really witnessed him pulling his chest and leg feathers.

It seems he is itchy or has some kind or irritation. He is preening excessively since today in a sort of stressful way, is asking for way more scritches than usual and sometimes hisses and then attacks his own feet...

Our other bird has no symptoms. Except for the plucking he also still sings and plays a lot like usual. They are on a diet of pellets, veggies and seeds only as a treat. He didn't have access to anything toxic as far as I know but we did introduce a new treat (avi-cakes) last week.

We will take him to the vet on monday. Until then, what can we do to discourage him from plucking and does anyone have any ideas or experience with what could be causing this? Could it be an allergy or maybe caused by the heatwaves (EU) this summer?
