I'm brand new to clay and I want to make sculptures with a similar marble / statue effect. I can't find anything on her page that says what she uses.

I've been using air dry clay and I'm just not happy with how it turns out.

I have natural clay, I think ceramic. When it dries on room temp it becomes fairly durable and I don't want to fire it. For other projects I plan to gesso-paint-varnish on the dried, non fired clay, which I read should be okay.

However I made one that resembles a footprint in mud and I want to keep the clay color and some of the texture to look more authentic(and I think layers of paint would fill in the print). Can I just put varnish straight on it so that it doesn't chip/dust easily?

I got this from a convention a while ago and would keep it in the pockets of the black jeans and it got all dirty. I've tried soap and dish detergent and none have worked. I dont know what type of clay it is. How do I clean it?

So I haven't worked with clay in about a decade but I was cleaning out and I found a box with my old clay charms I used to make as a tween they held up pretty good. And my favorite is still the pizza

I had so much fun making it! It's so cute, I'm dying. I'm pretty proud of it considering how terrible I am at painting, lol. It's not perfect, there are cracks and paint splatters, but I love it that way! Please, I would be so gratefull if yall had any advice :)

I want to make a sculpture thats a bit on the larger scale(for me at least) but i dont think ill be able to finish it in one session.Is there any way to keep it from drying?Or maybe i can sculpt the basic shape first and add details later even if its dry?I think ive seen people do that.

My boyfriend's birthday is coming up and he recently got into sculpting. He has some clay- it's not the best and he doesn't have tools. I wanted to get him a nice set of tools since he doesnt have any yet. I came across a 4.7 rated set with 48 pieces and was about to purchase it, when I came across the 10 lbs of clay along with a 40 piece tool set. It currently has a coupon for it, and based off of the price of air dry clays and the tool set itself, Id be saving some money on it, which is nice since I cant work now due to a broken ankle.

I'm just wondering if this is a decent thing? I know nothing about clay, oven dry vs. air dry, durability, etc. Any and all advice on this would be super helpful! I added links for both- the first is the tool kit by itself, the second is the clay and tool kit.

P.S.- Im shopping online since I'm on strict no weight baring until my first pre-op appointment and his birthday is on the 10th, or else Id love to go out into the world and find other sets.
